For example there is only 1 set of medals in weightlifting, rhythmic gymnastics, badminton, taekwondo, wrestling... You get my point
Athletics is almost impossible nowadays. Hard to get more than 3 golds in athletics per games. Swimming is most likely, then a few winter sports (Biathlon/Cross Country/Speed Skating/Short track speed skating/Alpine skiing) - although you need to be top level on almost every discipline for each of them, then gymnastics and maybe shooting.
Mondo Duplantis new OR/WR in Paris at 6.25 will probably be unbeatable for a very long time (for anyone but him, it could be broken in 2028 when he will be approaching his peak form and Mondo could still be the gold medalist for the 2032 and 2036 games if he’s still in shape and not injured). To put it in perspective, it took 20 years to go from the WR at 6.14 to 6.16 - but only 10 years to go from 6.16 to 6.25 due to Mondo. And nobody is anywhere close to jumping that high at the Olympics where the ceiling is only at about 6 or 6.05 meters, which is child’s play for Mondo.
The games' scheduling does not allow Zatopek type of dominance anymore, even in theory. In 2024 marathon and 5000m final were run on the same day. That is cruel schedule, but in theory doable, unlike current one. Now events are set so that short distance runners can maximize their participation. If I may, I would like to draw attention to the winter Olympics and the performance of Dr. Eric Heiden. In the 1980 Olympics, Dr Heiden swept the speed skating events, winning gold in everything from the 500 to the 10,000 meter race. The United States overall won six gold medals in the 1980 Winter Olympics. The US hockey team earned one. Eric Heiden won the other five.
Very few of these records are actually unbreakable. Especially not the youngest Athlete to win gold. Watchmojo might have forgotten, that Skateboarding now exists and the two gold medallists so far were 13 and 14 years old. There are still active olympic athletes with several appearances, like Isabell Werth, who has competed in 7 olympic games so far. She is 55, so when she keeps going, at this rate, she would have 10 olympic games by 2036, when she will be 67, having competed 44 years, so just barely more than the 40 years Millar had when he retired at age 65. Andrew Hoy is already at 8 games and still active. Heck, Nino Salukwadse IS doing her 10th games this year, so she is already tying Millar and the record will be broken in 2028, if she competes again.
Exactly. Also, as for pole vaulting, everyone thought Sergey Bubka's men's world record of 6.16m was unbeatable, and it was for 20 years, until it wasn't. And now the latest wr by Armand Duplantis is a whole 10 centimeters higher at 6.24m. Granted, neither are Olympic records, but it goes to show that as training methods and technology advances, there's always the possibility of some new kid from somewhere around the world coming in and sweeping the floor with the old records.
you have mentioned Dimitros Loundras is the youngest athlete to ever compete in the Olympic Games, taking part in the 1896 Athens Olympics at 10 years, 216 days old. Loundras is also the youngest medal winner, having won the bronze medal in the team competition,
Actually the greatest record ever was by Rachael Gunn (known competitively as b-girl Raygun), with the most number of kangaroo hopping completed in a competition.
2 things to be added from the most recent Olympics. I believe the most consecutive individual gold medals won now needs to go to Mijaín López of Cuba who is the first person to ever 5-peat the same event in 5 consecutive Olympics (Greco-Roman wrestling). Also, I believe that Armand Duplantis of Sweden should be the more acclaimed pole vaulter
Armand also just broke his Olympic record twice and broke his world record for the ninth time in pole vault. I think it's safe to say that his records are safe barring him coming back and breaking them again
I would say Bolts record is more likely to be broken than Phelps record. The 100 meter record gets broken every 10-15 years. 23 gold medals is so far ahead of what has ever been done that its ridiculous

Remember, not only does Usain Bolt have the 100m record, but also the 200m record and was a part of the 4x100m record as well. Even if someone breaks one of his individual records, no one will ever be able to claim all 3 like he did
Concerning Table Tennis, they might not start a domination era, but the two French Lebrun brothers, Félix and Alexis (aged 17 and 20 respectively), do seem to have what it takes to challenge the Chinese and Asians as a whole. The hammer is the one we're waiting for, the discus was finally broken this year which stood as long as the hammer.
You guys sound too optimistic about women's pole vault records ever NOT be broken. Nothing could be farther than the truth
Remember Sergei Bubka and now Armand Duplantis ? Strike a bell ? NEVER SAY NEVER
Ian Millar!!! Huge showjumping icon for all equestrians
In my opinion some things on this list CAN be breakable
5 straight years without missing a single day of practice, jeez no wonder I will never be champion
Carlos Yulo. The First Male Summer Olympics Athlete From The Philippines With 2 Consecutive Summer Olympics Gold Medals During The Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
Well if other sports like the 100m sprint were split into running backwards, hopping with one leg, sideways, blindfolded, hands tied behind the back and other meaningless variations, then perhaps Phelps' record would be broken
skipping and galloping too lol. you forgot relays (teams) of these variations and different lengths of these variations too instead of just the fastest person to the finish...
Phelps's first games was in 2000
German rider Isabell Werth now has competed in 7 Olympic Games (everyone since 1992 except 2004 and 2012) and won 2 medals in each of them (14 in total) each of them at least silver.
Incredible records
The 200 M women's record of flu jo by 21:34 in Seoul 88 is still unbreakable
So bolt set a world and Olympic record that no one thought could ever be beat, then broke the world record 1 year later proving that his Olympic record could theoretically be broken
Remember, not only does Usain Bolt have the 100m record, but also the 200m record and was a part of the 4x100m record as well. Even if someone breaks one of his individual records, no one will ever be able to claim all 3 like he did
Arshad Nadeem of pakistan just throw the longest throw of the century 92.9 meters ...
Women’s 800m 1:53.43 by Nadezhda Olizarenko (URS) Moscow 1980
I would guess Usain Bolt’s 100 meter record mights be one of the "easiest" to beat
Ma Long on the Thumbnail?? Wow!
Maaan... Just from those clips that youngest perfect 10 on the on even bars!!! She looked like a fluid robot 😅😳🔥
Phelps first Olympics was 2000 Sydney at age 15. He got 5th in 200m butterfly.
Goes to show how much research Watchmojo does for their videos.
Tentoglou will break the record for long jump for sure!
Concerning Table Tennis, they might not start a domination era, but the two French Lebrun brothers, Félix and Alexis (aged 17 and 20 respectively), do seem to have what it takes to challenge the Chinese and Asians as a whole. Both of them are already World Champions, and have beaten Chinese players before, and Félix has already taken bronze in Paris 2024 (aged 17). Do keep an eye on them in the future.
As a counter to the questions regarding nation of origin for US athletes in 1904, how many athletes competing for other nations do their training in the USA?
You forgot 1500 m running of Hicham el Gerrouj , the Norway athlete Jacob tried to break his Hicham's record many times but failed
That pole vault record was broke in Paris 3 days ago
SK archety streak will never be broken. They've been the only country to win gold since 1988
No mention of Lasha snatching 223kg? Was thought impossible. I don’t think anyone will ever do it again.
phelp's record probably will never be broken, not only does the athlete have the ability to win their his/her individual events but also the team gotta have the ability to win the relays as well. leon def got the individual part down, but its hard to win the relays for him comparing the caliber of the other french swimmers vs the US/China/GB/Australia. in addition to China's dominance in table tennis, u gotta look at South Korea's dominance in archery esp on the women's team event, they have never lost since its inception, 10 consecutive golds.
If the Olympics add SC swimming, leon has a chance

9:58 maybe an alien could beat it 🇯🇲
I have watched a simulation of Bolt vs a cheetah, the cheetah runs 100m in 5.95 seconds at its top speed, which is about 4 seconds less than Bolt's best time...if Bolt was given and advance of 40m they would cross the line nearly at the same time
Not broken, but equaled - Diana Taurasi won her 6th Gold Medal in Basketball in Paris to match Aladár Gerevich
Thats massive, but Aladár won 7 gold over 6 olymipics
I doubt these records will ever be broken
I won't say Bolt's 100m record is unbreakable (the 200m absolutely is).
However no once since has come close. He set this 15 years ago now.
what about Massú's two gold medals for both singles and doubles in tennis in ONE edition??? Even Federer said that is impossible for anyone to win both medals at once.
What the heck! Ma Long is the only male Table Tennis player to defend his Olympic title and 2 grand slams in the history of Table Tennis
Phelps's record unlikely to be beaten, unless they add 25,150,300,500 and so on meters and couple of relays.
The 100 m will be broken. I think there's an actual physical limit of how low that number is, but I think it can be 9.50. I also think the women's pole vault will be broken too.
Nah, once they're six feet under, its broken tbh ~ 😂😂😂
It's going to be difficult breaking Usain bolts record. Winning gold in 100m and 200m in 3 consecutive Olympic games will be very difficult.
Add one more. The Cuban wrestler became the first one to win 5 gold medal in 5 olympics.
LeCap’s uncle had to check his watch mid air like damn i been up here for a while
After 1980, India hasn't won a single medal in hockey up until 2020.
They have 8 golds in hockey... There were 10 Olympics from 1980-2020. Yet no nation beat that records.
Thats called record. Domination. India is the undisputed King of Hockey.
Phelps record is untouchable..
This year a kid like 13 years old or so won a medal in the skate
I thought you had to be 15 to compete
The following records will never be broken: Jan Železný 98.48 m Javelin 1996 - Flojo 10.49s 100m dash 1988 and Javier Satomayor 2.45m High Jump 1993 and Usain ofcourse. Usain is a freak of nature.
And Marita Koch
Arshad Nadeem set a new Olympic record in javelin yesterday with 92.97m!! Charles Austin has the high jump record with 2.39 from Atlanta 1996!
