Wadden sea is beautiful, as are the Frisian islands. Tide goes out a long way around there, the place changes all the time. Lots of unique places to see. Heligoland is really fab but can be wild weather out there plus the shipping lanes in/out of Hamburg. I've been to all the Frisian islands and its a fab part of the world. Stay safe.
I ENJOY EACH ADVENTURE. I LIVED ON A 32 FOOTER CHRIS CRAFT 1949 SAILBOAT IN SHELTER ISLAND, SAN DIEGO CA FOR 3 YRS. ENGINES WHERE TOAST BUT I GOT THE BOAT LIFE. IT WAS CHEAP THEN.. YOUR VIDEOS BRING ME BACK TO THE GOOD OLD DAYS. THANK YOU.
Hi Sam! Your lady companion is lovely, she has a beautiful smile, she is looks perfect similar twin to the "Girl With A Pearl Earring" shown in Johannes Vermeer's painting.😉
I think it is the landscape, color and sounds of this that reminded me most of all of my dad's 27 footer decades back, in England. Especially that distinctive thrum of a 2-banger diesel. Even the sea state was similar. Edit: To join in the chorus of praise for your companion, of all of your sea mates she seems like she really loves every bit of it.
Hello Sam you really go to some beautiful places what a beautiful boats out there and your friend has the most beautiful pleasant heartwarming smiles she's a beautiful young lady treat her well good to see that you have a new partner to travel with stay safe out there my friend God bless you both stay healthy and that pizza looks really good at the end of the video that made me hungry LOL now I have to eat some ice cream and some cherry pie
Great video and this young lady is so compatible. She really adds to the video with her interest and interjection. Hope we see her as a permanent person in your life and videos. Three 👍 up
Hi Sam, we were also boarded by customs in Texel some years ago. We thought it was because we were the only British boat in the marina! Lovely to see the Netherlands in your video. We are just starting a circumnavigation of Ireland.
I've benn following you know for quite some time and really enjoy your travels! Great job, from ft myers myself! I started following you just before hurricane ian, i didn't realize you were from this area! That was cool to see! Keep up the awesome videos!
I walked the wadden zee years ago . Yes walked try it !!! Your close to my home town of Alkmaar!!! It's realy in the top of holland above that you have the dutch islands as north as can be . Now you have a long trip south to Belgium.
You forget to see the Islands, Texel, Vlieland, Terschelling, Ameland and Schiermonnikoog. A lot of tourists visit them all year long, it is worth to go there. Enjoy.Cheers.
I grew up in Enkhuizen, funny to see it featuring in your video. The lock you sailed through just before Enkhuizen is a very interesting "Aquaduct". You actually sailed over the freeway passing underneath. Also, the island you spent the night on lays in a lake that originally was meant to be emptied and used for farmland. At one point they decided te keep it. The island is part of a re-naturing project as the IJsselmeer is almost devoid of life due to over-fishing.
Upon the vast and murky Wadden Sea, Sailed Sam, a burdened sailor, woe was he. Amidst the mudflats, under the moon's pallid shroud, He trudged through the darkness, with despair he was endowed. The tides whispered secrets, a foreboding affair, His heart, like a raven, beat black with despair. In the arms of the Wadden, he found solace so rare, His soul intertwined, a tale of woe to declare.
Great to see Sam sailing in my hometown waters in The Netherlands. FØLK FLYTEN's harbour is Medemblik. Hope to meet you somewhere.. Thanks for all your inspiration and the great video"s.
Good to see you sailing in the waters of My Dutch Ancestors. Your new Gill Foulies Look Great. Hope they perform as well as they look. What year was the ancient structure built that you videoed?
18:46 Ferries to Texel. Double ended, when I was on it years back passengers fed the gulls, so clouds of birds followed the boats. Good maritime museum in Den Helder. My new favourite place in NL is Hellevoetsluis.
Hi Sam and lovely girlfriend, I almost envy you both, your sailing in my country in which I don't live anymore but the Waddenzee is so special have a save journey
maybe that yellow thing at the lock gates with the 3 and 2 meter was an air draft sign, as the water height drops the air draft beneath the bridge increases.... just a thought..
I sailed on the Wadden back in 68 could not have been more different, hot sunny days not much wind. No need for cloaks with arms usually called jackets!!!
Hey Sam, you haven't introduced us to your lovely new companion?? 😊 Anyhow, another fine film from Sam Holmes.....oh boy the rain and cold of northern Europe haha we know all about it, I live in Southern Ireland where this weather is our everyday, almost. Still all the same, lovely places to visit. Bet you're looking forward to getting south, careful of the pod of Orca's off Portugal. Scientists reckon they have been upset by something and are taking their revenge, but as James from Triteia said, let's hope they don't teach the younger ones to be aggressive. Safe travels out there, sending best regards from Cork, Ireland.
That boat you saw that you thought was sinking is a coastal transporter, it has massive load capabilities and the hull when empty is way up out of the water. Probably it had coal or something like that onboard. It's probably one of the most seaworthy ships out there.
@@mcphatty84 ah right, that would indeed explain the weight.....nice one for checking. They're an unusual sight if you've never seen this type of vessel before 👍😊
She made you a sailing pullover and you haven’t proposed yet!?!? My husband & I, of 47 years married, are wondering WHATS WRONG WITH YOU!!! She is a KEEPER!❤️
The Black Sea isn't an option until the attack on Ukraine is over. Fair Isle hoped to sail there from the Med but were strongly advised to stay clear of waters with untethered mines... Is there a loop of waterways that can return a boat to the North Sea so they don't have to retrace their journey?
I've been watching these videos for a couple of years and now I've recently bought my first boat a 23.5 hunter! Thankyou for the inspiration!
That's a nice boat and I betcha got a good deal.
Congratulations!
Enjoy and eventually go big
Sam did his Hawaii solo in a Hunter 23 👍
That has a winged keel, doesn't it? We had one in our racing fleet. It was a nice little boat that sailed well. When are you setting sail for Hawaii?
Fire
I love how every video of Sam just starts without an intro, he just gets right into it 😁
I love the no-nonsense production values.

Always great to see Andelina in an episode of SHS. Another great adventure Sam. Thanks for sharing!
that vessel that looked like it was sinking was a dredger. It can draft it's entire hull save for the bow and stern. Pretty cool boat!
Your videos always make me smile. The Dutch have so many interesting sailing vessels and great places to sail. Thanks Sam😀😀
This is by and far my favorite Channel on the internet.
Holland is nice.I live in Lelystad and together with my baby Victoire 22. 6.60m sailboat.Great movies you have.Awesome
We love you two 🥰
Keep sailing... And smiling... And sharing!!!
You bet

Glad to see you both back . All the best with your new venture Glenn. xx
Always great keeping up where you are in the world! Keep it coming!
so many beautiful towns in Holland. Thanks for the video Sam.
Wow, what a great first mate! Good to see you , Onalee! The sea looks friendly!
Sam, so good to see you sail "our waters". Enjoy your stay and safe travels to Belgium.

Love seeing the blue IKEA bag for your bottles. We moved kids into college with those.
Those things cant take a beating, I always keep a few around in case I need to move a bunch of loose stuff around
Loved the video Sam, your sense of humor had me laughing. Enjoyed your comments on the wadden zee.

Great work Sam! Very cool spot.
“You can see why we don’t have this technology” bit was perfect start to finish. Loved it
Thanks. The real credit goes to the Waddenbelevingspunt though
Ditto previous comments. Good Vibes on this channel!!! Love your show!!!!!
Waddenhaven Den Oever is a fantastic place, my favourite dutch harbour.
"This is the probably the house where the people that worked here lived" --> it's my favourite yoga/meditation spot haha
"You won't see this on Uma sailing"...haha. No doubt!
Love Kika and Dan also!!!!!!
BE HAPPY , I ❤ YOUR VIDEOS .

Well, overfishing certainly didn't help, but the afsluitdijk is probably worse for the wildlife in the zuiderzee.
I hope you guys loved Holland, my home land. Great sailing country. Goede vaart (happy sailing)
Good to see you back on pickled herring. Great choice for winter sleep 😎
All vids are as smooth as Tennessee Whiskey.
Nice Jackets!! Cozy!!!
Great video Sam . This passage your on in Belgium looks pretty dam neat , makes me want cross the pond and take a look see.

I really enjoyed this video thanks for taking us along.✌

Yup, ferries not cruise ships.

Hope this doesn't sound weird but at 23.30 the pretty young lady's profile reminded me of Vermeer's "Girl with a Pearl Earring"🙂
Great video. Enkhuizen, Compagnieshaven is the harbor where my boat is. Unfortunately we didn’t met. I guess we would have a nice chat. Take care .
Sam - Listen carefully … she’s a keeper
I cant😂
She might be, he isn’t
Leave the boy alone!!
Maybe she’s annoying off camera
All these men simping over this total stranger. Go figure.

Great video! Nice lady seems to be a good companion. Enjoy my friend. Be safe.❤️👍💯
Great looking couple
I’m sure the ship going backwards had just lost its clumps of foam 😂
Loved it!
Keep on keeping on!
In the summer time you can do guided muddy hiking tours to the wadden islands. (called Wadlopen)
Much recommended!
Sam, great video! Have to say I’m kinda partial to Zoe though 😆 just kidding; thanks for sharing your adventures
Sam you don’t always introduce your female companions or maybe I miss them. PS I’ve followed you from California to Hawaii and your work projects.
Fully support this!❤
She's a keeper. Don't break your heart dude.
How do you do that?
@freedomfreedom6544 you break your heart by being an idiot and letting her get away or not treating her right
You would do good to settle with that girl. ⛵️
Dude, she's gotta stay on the channel. Reminds me of my Brazilian wife. Smart, pretty, and capable.
Damn its six thirty in the morning and now I want pizza, should have waited till later to watch your video. Thanks for sharing this trip Sam 👍

Wadden are sandbanks.
Den Helder is an important harbour town for the dutch navy.
That used to be doggerland. A very interesting topic to read a little about.
Fun video, thanks
Anneliese? resembles Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring. Anyway, good travels.
dang 100%
The sign at 10:40 shows the vertical clearance under the bridge (in meters).
What a gentlman....
Nice jackets. Proper introduction to your crew would be nice. Study in Grey up there. Sunny and breezy in Panama

Fascinating
Ah, familiar waters! Welcome to the Netherlands!
Omg Sam eating a broodje bakpao on the Ijselmeer :) Welcome back to the Netherlands!
Sam Holmes: shaggy, gutsy, and interesting. Inspiring adventures on a shoestring. Much admiration.
What did you call the round, yellow observation structure in Wadden?
looks so fun

I think we lost Sam to a beautiful smart Dutch woman. The moment he sailed into the Netherlands I knew he was in danger. 😂
I thought she was Norwegian.
@@OnceABustAlwaysABust Your never met a Dutch woman clearly :-)
@@waterfaucet9926 I thought she was Dutch (previous vid with the flag)
@@PeterPanbe Didn’t they first meet up earlier this year (maybe last year) while he was in Norway.
@@waterfaucet9926 oh. Is that the same girl? Let’s see if he answers 😜
Hey Sam, what was the name of that observation thing? I didn't understand what was special about it so I want to look it up.
Good video
Great video. From Holland it is possible to take the waterways to the Black Sea, perhaps an interesting voyage for you both.

@RechargeableLithium The French Canals in summer cout be another option, perhaps she could accompany you?
G that old pirate ship looked cool guys
Wow Samwich, I never have seen a pizza vending machine. I wonder how the crust is?
They must really like having the gunnels in the water when cruising the wadden zee!
