It was a great deal for me because at that time I was discovering a lot of Nirvana stuff I’ve never heard before on the internet and having a new studio song felt special. In 2005 “Heavier than Heaven” was released here in my country, I had preordered the book, and listening to that album made me get in the mood for the release. Still one of my favorite songs from their catalogue.
actually he's using an ibanez supermetal for this specific recording and a univox high flyer, although he is famous for using the ds-2 and ds-1. And he is using a tube amp for this but not a twin reverb. Its a marshal jpm 50, for this recording although he mainly uses his mesa studio pre amp for other recordings.

Kurt only showed up for one of the 3 days and he didn't bring any of his equipment with him, hence the change in equipment. EDIT: it is worth noting though, that LiveNirvana doesn't cite the Ibanez Supermetal as the pedal used, but a Boss distortion pedal that Kurt didn't normally use.

@Mikael909 you can make the same sounds by buy buying a feedback pedal,such as the behringer fd-300 feedback/distortion pedal.basically,when he's doing the parts that sound like a LAZER you hold down on it,to create a feedback overtone,check it out.
Hell yeah, this feedback is hard to reproduce but sometimes it sounds alike, feedback depends of the gear used, angle between guitar and amp speakers, and a lot of other variables, I made a cover of this song, tell me what you think about 😉✌️

In the official tab book it says to pluck notes behind the bridge (suggesting the use of floating tremolo type guitar by default) at the start. If you actually pluck these notes with the area BEHIND THE NUT instead on your headstock it sounds more authentic. I BELIEVE kurt did it this way because it sounds IDENTICLE to the recording to pluck behind headstock. Anyone else do this? I think Kurt used a telecaster on the recording also.

He played (and destroyed) a Mosrite Ventures guitar and played a lot of Jags, both of which are basically surf guitars. His choice of guitars seems to have been less about what was right than what was cheap and decent quality (you could pick up Jags and Mustangs for nothing in the Superstrat n' poodle-perm 80s as they were so hugely unfashionable then).

Its probs a mustang trem/vibrato tailpiece, considering he used mustangs alot of the time and the fact that sound is easily achievable on that guitar
