I literally was looking at this model yesterday lol! I would love to see you work on one of these. Also I finally found your ebay store so I will be keeping an eye on it and hope to buy some models from you someday. Your work is among the absolute best I have ever seen in my life. I have only been weathering for about 3 years and I am no where near your level of skill. Thank Dan.

It is easy to replace the RTR (old "blue box") motor with a Genesis motor. You will have to do a little grinding on the frame with a Dremel and cylindrical mill bit, but it is fast and easy. You will have to slide the worm gear coupler over a tad to get correct drive shaft engagement. This will give much improved operation. All of my tunnel motors have Genesis motors but for one, which has a Kato motor. Having LEDs in the newer locos is a huge improvement. You can also saw a little off the rear weight with a hacksaw to make room for a Keep Alive, making this an even better running loco.

Great video as always! I’d much rather have the $125 model than the $100,000 real prototype😂

It is a great loco, unfortunately we the customers have pay alot of for these locos, them plastic cheap McHenry COUPLERS aren't worth a damned!!! They (Athearn) should of at least throw in a couple Kadees. I will say again this loco looks pretty impressive, thanks for sharing your input on this engine👍

With Lionel's BTO, they should look into the weathering and patch jobs .

KYLE got a few of the older CEFX units and a lot of them were basically original SP colors.

Hey Dan, this is Shane! I talked with you about the working brakes on all of the rolling stock!!!
Do you have any ideas whatsoever regarding someone that would like to take this project on?
You wouldn't believe the neat stuff I have engineered for trains. I have to be careful talking about it; It would be really easy someone to make off with this technology!!! Any ideas---at all???

The word is out that Athearn has lots of new items coming out next year. Could it be D9's, GEVO's in their various configurations and more modern freight cars???
