I just came back from living there for a couple months. I was in chengdu. If you love food go there! Its great. I also went to chongqing and zhangjiajie. Which I HIGHLY recommend zhangjiajie for 3-4 days. Many people say go to Bejing, It has all the popular stuff but if you dont wanna go that route, XIAN has great history, Chengdu has great food and alot to do, and then I obviously recommend going to zhangjiajie. Chongqing also has many things to do and is massive!
Finally coming to my hometown great! I have been following you for 5 years and have been hoping that you can come to Xi'an to enjoy our delicious food. I am very happy to see you here!

This is my hometown. Everything you tried is so familiar and so delicious. I hope you will try the cold skin noodles in your next video. Cold skin noodles and Chinese hamburger are the two most signature dishes in xian. They are normally paired together and called xian combo.

I was in Xi´an 2018 and it was a great experience. The food is delicious and I liked it a lot. This is a good video to show all this. If you like to adventure, China is a very good country to do so.
I am from Hong Kong and first visited X'ian in 1984, yep, 40 years ago. This is the city with Muslim concentration and starting point of the Silk Road, so heavily influenced by Central Asia culture. The way you are adding chilli sauce is unbelievable. The second stall serving pita bread is Halal certified.

20:54 This type of noodle dish has became popular in London recently. There is a restaurant called Noodle Inn near where I live that has long queues every day.
Now these things I can eat with a smile on my face. Those belt noodles drenched in chilli oil and the rest of the ingredients looks amazingly delicious. By watching these videos I've learnt not to over cook my packet of noodles and also to leave the broth instead of draining it because that's where the wholesome flavour is. Would be awesome if the noodles we have here in South Africa is freshly made instead of the processed and packaged type we buy from supermarkets. There are very few Chinese restaurants here and the two that I've eaten at, I ordered chow mein. The first chow mein was just vegetables floating in water but at the other restaurant, it was a thick broth which I enjoyed more because it was a hearty meal. I L❤VE everything about the Chinese culture especially their artworks and my dream is to one day visit all the Asian countries. Am also learning a few Asian pronunciation of the words by watching these videos. Thank you Mark, Ying and Micah for the lessons learnt and experiencing the Asian culture and cuisine without me even leaving my house 🤟🤩👌

For Muslims, China is actually a very easy place to visit in terms of food. Halal restaurants are very common and clearly marked so you won’t be concerned about what you’re eating.
I lived for a few months in Shenzhen in 2005 and I can still remember how delicious all of the food there was. Love Chinese food with Sichuan pepper and chilli oil. And the street food/restaurant food is quite affordable too.
That restaurant at the end of the video is SO AWESOME!!! It is a fantasy dream world with food that you can't get enough of. When I was in Japan there are a few like that but are more somber. This one in Xian is an overload of the senses. Like an Emperor's dining hall. The Veg burger reminded me of the way Falafel is made in the Middle East. But this one had Tofu instead of the chickpea patty. And the Pork belly burger. Better than a hamburger.
In the western world, why don't they have "Chinese breakfast" restaurants??? People here just always assume that Chinese food isn't for breakfast 😂....

As someone from China, I appreciate Mark for having an unbiased opinion on China(ahem..sonny?), Xi'an's one of my favorite cities to visit, and this video got my mouth watering and planning my Christmas trips! I would recommend foreigners to have a guide(Too much to see, too much to learn), and Michael seemed like a nice guy, and a local that knows the city! Glad Mark loved China, and showed Western media the real China that I know!
don't worry about biased people. They are slowly looking more and more like a fool as China opens up and invite more people to visit. Some will not change as expected, but many will and I suspect the majority will change their view of China after they visit.
Xi'an, as the ancient capital of China, is the origin of many Chinese cuisines. You can find roots of many Chinese dishes you ate or are familiar with.

As someone from China, I appreciate Mark for having an unbiased opinion on China(ahem..sonny?), Xi'an's one of my favorite cities to visit, and this video got my mouth watering and planning my Christmas trips! I would recommend foreigners to have a guide(Too much to see, too much to learn), and Michael seemed like a nice guy, and a local that knows the city! Glad Mark loved China, and showed Western media the real China that I know!
don't worry about biased people. They are slowly looking more and more like a fool as China opens up and invite more people to visit. Some will not change as expected, but many will and I suspect the majority will change their view of China after they visit.
I lost all respect for Sonny after that video.
