It's so weird seeing Jay White in this main event status beating all these great wrestlers from New Japan and AEW, I remember when he was starting out and doing some mid card matches in ROH without a beard playing a humble babyface😂, now he's like one of the biggest heels, it was like 2016 ish then forgot about him and like 2-3 years later he's a huge heel in new japan😂
During that ROH run is where I became a fan. For the record, not sure how much you know about NJPW so forgive me if you already know this, but NJPW has their dojo where young wrestlers, or "young boys" train. After graduation from the dojo, the spend some time as a "Young Lion", mostly putting guys over, and then they go on an excursion, often to CMLL but also around that time to ROH. That was his excursion. So that was a young Jay White on what was essentially a foreign exchange student program to continue developing, and since returning to New Japan he's become in my opinion one of the best in the world, if not THE best.

I became a fan of Jay back in January 2018, around the time he won the US bely from Kenny. He was still awkward and getting used to his, 'Switchblade' moniker, but you could still see he had IT. Hell, his match with Juice later that year was a banger and I feel that was Jay's first showcase in his brilliance of heelwork. Glad to see that he's been becoming THE guy in New Japan.

Not to mention as someone else said, New Japans interviews are normally ALWAYS in character, and AEW's are more laid back just eh say whatever in character or not.
