@@BennySmilesMusic yeah man. No, but really, I've searched this question before, and I was actually wondering, cause I couldn't find anything from anyone else. Speaking of patience, check this out since you like Hotline Miami ruclips.net/video/RwljVtNgQok/видео.html
It surprised me how simple it was to actually get a gig doing video game music. I got one a few months back by simply DMing a bunch of people on Reddit and have been working with the guy that said yes ever since. Sounds like your story with a couple more steps hahaha.
Yes! That’s awesome. I guess “easy” is subjective, but as long as you’re making good work, sooner or later you’re going to find someone who digs it. Good job Turner!
Idk why this only just recently showed up in my reccomended but now that it has, I want to say that I absolutely love your song in Hotline Miami 2. Hotline Miami 1 and 2 are my favorite games, and their music is a huge factor for that. Your song has always felt different than the other tracks to me since it sounds almost sentimental and triumpant and less crazy drug fueled 80s disco ravey like the other ones do. That being said, it still has that special something I can't describe that perfectly mixes with HLM gameplay to make you feel like a total badass. It really fits well in the game while also feeling unique af. It made the level it accompanies one of my favorites. Greatly appreciate your work.
I can't tell you how many times I've listened to this track on repeat with my Bose headphones while mowing the lawn, working on cars, chainsaw trees, etc. I love the whole video, but 4:48 - 6:08 would make an awesome short clip too
Stumbled across this video, and I think its great! Me and a good friend of mine are working on a game together and I honestly cant wait to get to doing the soundtrack for it.
😂 that’s so good. I don’t know how I let it get like that, but one day I was making a patch and I suddenly saw how filthy it was! I got a paintbrush and dusted all the synths, and my soul feels so much cleaner now. Why didn’t you say something before????
I’m gonna say 1. I liked having more choice of characters in 2 and 3, and some of the music was great, but 1 will always have that place in my heart. What’s yours and why?
@@BennySmilesMusic I would say 2 because each level had a song that was really memorable also it looked and played better. Streets of rage 1 was my first but it gives me flashbacks of not being able to defeat the two girls in green but it will always be the game that gave me my love for music
Oh fuuuck! Those girls. I remember them coming back in the last level, same as all the other bosses, but where did they first appear? It was the wrestler dudes on the beach, the two really tall guys with the boomerangs who’d charge at you if you tried to fly kick them... can’t place the two girls in green though
Hey Benny, do you remember the name/school of the video game composition course you mentioned taking? I'd like to check it out. You have a really cool story man!
Hey Liights, I do. It was at Griffith College Dublin, and I think it was called Music Production for Video Games. A combo of those words should get you there in google... are you in Ireland?
Ha! No way! My next thought for @Liights was that when I did it, there were definitely kinks that had yet to be worked out, although I think my year might have been the very first? How was it for your class Robert?
@@BennySmilesMusic It was great! The pacing was a little funny (was great with lots of new material in the first semester but it kinda dragged in the second half). It didn't have me ready to walk into a studio and deliver a full game or film off the bat when I graduated, but it gave me enough of a grounding so I knew where to look next!
Hey benny, why dont you make a course that teaches other people how to make this kind of stuff? I think that would be cool, although i suppose you cant just start making music out of the blue without equipment. Anyway, nice video, and im looking forward to seeing your music on a major game title x)
Funny you should say that... Several people have suggested this, and my first port of call has been setting up a Discord server to run classes from and get discussion going. I'm just in the process of setting that bad boy up, but I'll send you an invite as soon as it's cooked. Thanks for your support, and I'm looking forward to that day too!
Well, if it’s something you’d be interested in, the Ableton courses would take the same format as this one at the music school I run in Dublin secretschoolofsound.ie/courses/ableton-courses/ableton-live-online-courses/ (you’ll have to copy paste that link, as RUclips won’t let me link a non SSL site)
@@BennySmilesMusic sounds nice! Although it is a pity that i cant afford 200 euros :( maybe ill be able to afford it later on. But when i do buy this course, i can only hope that youll be my teacher :)
That’s a really sweet thing to say, Imm! I haven’t quite figured out pricing just yet, sorry - that link was more to show the broader format of it. But when I start to get this stuff off the ground I’m sure there could be some wiggle room for the folks like yourself who’ve been supporting me on this RUclips journey!
No, I'm not skipping to 3 or 4 mins in, I'm extremely interested
😂 amazing, thanks Taylor - you’ve got some impressive patience, and tenacity. A winning combination.

@@BennySmilesMusic Thanks! We bit off quite a lot more then we can chew. But It'll get there.
Godspeed...
OMG this guy is a legend... a musical genius. Thanks again for the Hotline Miami ost.
They’re some pretty serious accusations you’re throwing around there, fella... My pleasure though man, delighted you’re feeling it
I love your music from the game
Thanks Cnonymous, I’m really glad you dig it - thanks for watching and saying hello!
In this video the Prophet looks clean, I got to say it was something driving me a little crazy in the other videos. I love your music and videos dude!

Damn look at benny he has been working out
Oh Noel, thanks for noticing! 😂 It’s been part of my lockdown regime, went full in and got a bench!

Yes!! Road Rash 2 was the only one I ever owned because of the music.
It was also clearly the superior game
looking forward to more vids :)

enjoyed. Thank you
