  • Thought I'd stop being lazy for a minute and chuck together a little overview of my experience with the XH2S after a year of shooting.
    I've shot absolutely loads, a lot of which I can't share on RUclips as it's stuff I've shot with the guys at work, but hopefully you get some impression of what the camera is capable of.
    As always, shout if you have any questions about the camera, lenses, cards, settings, or whatever. Peace!

I own an XT-4 and shoot mainly boxing photography with it. For video i use a GH6 which seems very comparable minus the AF and haven’t pulled the trigger yet as i’m not convinced how improved the AF is for for stills compared to XT4 and don’t really need the video capability considering my Gh6.

    • @lazyvideoguy773
      @lazyvideoguy773  Год назад

      The 8-16mm f2.8 is probably your best bet, that’s roughly a 12-24 so should be perfect - it’s expensive though sadly. Alternatively the 10-24 f4 isn’t bad, but obviously f4 isn’t great for potentially darker interiors.
      If you don’t mind manual focus Laowa make their 9mm zero D which I think is an f2.8, might be a good option.
      Finally there’s the super cheap samyang 8mm fisheye and the 10mm, all manual I think, and I imagine not very sharp.
      I don’t have any super wide lenses of my own, my widest is the 16mm f1.4 so I can’t speak for their quality

    Question: what’s the point of buying a high resolution camera if in post production you purposefully wash out contrast? You can achieve the same result with any number of cheaper gear.

    • @lazyvideoguy773
      @lazyvideoguy773  Год назад +1

      First off, 'high resolution' and dynamic range are not the same thing.
      Secondly, lifted blacks is a look some people enjoy, and some people do not, that's absolutely fine, colour grading is fairly subjective. Some people in this comments section have expressed they like the look, and some have said they don't. This is why I made the point of showing before & after grading, so people can see what the camera can capture for themselves.
      Thirdly, shooting on a camera with lesser dynamic range would limit how much information can be captured on both sides of the waveform, and as the signal hasn't been clamped in post, just curved, a degree of shadow detail persists.
      Thanks for the feedback nonetheless

    Isn’t it 4k60fps

      Yeah, can do 4k60p. I just shoot 50p for a 25fps workflow so I usually shoot 25, 50 & 100p rather than 24, 60, 120 for example.
