My grandpa had this gem since 1973 until his death - got passed down to my uncle and it's still running. As far as I remember, it was Hi-Deluxe sedan trim
Miss my '74. Had a turquoise blue one. Widened 13x5 SR5 rims out back. 1600 2TC. headers, wild solid lift Isky cam, MSD, polished valve cover, K&N air filter, electronic fuel pump, tach on the dash was cool, shortened shifter, tow tabs up front, red lines on the seats. Inside my motor carriage was gloss black, Oh the memories. 13x8 rims? When you turned weren't you rubbing something? I had problems with my steering box. Nice ride. Good luck. I think it was '74 when the bumper became bigger. '73 it was still a smaller bumper like yours.
Well composed view of your fine conditioned car with usefull explainings. Father had a E20 with a 1.2 ltr, one is now in a showroom of a Toyota Dealer nearby and remembering grows on happy 15 ears with this reliable car in nearly mustard colour. Double thanks for the refreshing streetart fitting to your Coupe & streetart scanner.
I had this exact car brand new in 1972 I was a junior in High School. I drove it off the lot in Des Moines Iowa for $2,312.00 with tax license and dealer prep! Fantastic car and it was a five speed manual!
That's good bro.I had the same car but it was a 1975 model 1.6 , 185 tyres , cyclone rims.black plastic vent on left of hood.double light headlamps.manual 4 speed , right hand drive.I bought it in 1998 and it was stolen in 1999.The car was never recovered.I looked for one to purchase but never found it in the same original condition.I had a look at two but they were rust bugs.I then bought my uncle's Ford Cortina 2.0GL and I put on 205 tiger firepower tyres with chrome cyclone rims.It gave me good service.I now have a 1990 E30 BMW 316i and a Mk1 VW Golf,4 speed. Both cars are immaculate. The BMW e30 is a wonderful car.Somehow I still miss that 2 door Toyota Corolla Coupe. I love the older cars.
I had a '74 Corolla SR5. 2TC, 5-spd., stock red stripes down the front seats, widened SR5 rims in the back-13x5's w/ beauty rings all around, polished valve cover, Isky solid lift cam , 4 barrel carb, shortened shifter, MSD, racing steering wheel, stock turqoise blue. I miss her.
Beautiful car!!!! And love the colour!!! My brother had one back In The early 90s in the UK , 1972 orange colour SL coupe Toyota Corolla. Beautiful car!!
All of your weatherstripping looks really new. Did you have that replaced? If so where did you get it from. I am having trouble finding it for my 75 corolla TE31
Great car, great video! One thing, though: the stereo system is definitely not original. The door panels have been cut to install those speakers (there was originally a single speaker under the dash), and the radio looks to be from the 90s. None of it sticks out, though, so no reason to change any of it. Still looks good!
The rear vents are actually working and they are not for "colling brakes." actuality, they are part of the cabin ventilation system and there should be air valves with vents in the sail pillars... Nice mango but too bad it's automatic. Doubt you'll beat any muscle cars in it but it's a sweet ride.
I Just clicked like! ... great to see other passionate enthusiasts of these magic wee cars out there. I purchased a 1 owner minter of these here in NZ back almost 10 years ago! ... still got it but its tastefully modded now. They really are a great wee car. Lots of fun to drive !!! Cheers for posting! You will see a really old clip of mine if you search my uploads.
I used to own a 1972 Corolla Deluxe Coupe. Mine was firefly yellow with black vinyl top. 2 speed automatic transmission. It was my first car. I got it in 1978. It had 98,000 miles on it. It had some problems. But it was a nice first car for a teenager. Easy to work on. You mentioned small bumpers and large bumpers. I wonder if they offered both in 1972, or changed mid year I mean. If I remember correctly my front bumper was larger than the one on yours, but I could be wrong. Possibly my car was a late 72?
Excellent...😊 I own a 1974 KE-20 Corolla...been in the family since 1984! My Father got it second hand! I dream is to one day upgrade the engine to 2TC! Looking for right tail light and front bumper!
There is one thing about the original steering wheel I didn’t like. The horn buttons (3?) are too close to the rim and if you’re not careful you could accidentally press one. I did it a few times. I see your steering wheel is not original
1 last thing ... the Toyota Altezza 6 speed box with modded bell housing to suit 4A block goes absolutely perfect behind the 4age turbo - the ratios are absolutely perfect. ... you wont break it i can vouch that much ... even with 400 horse. I binned my W series supra box to go Altezza but its kinda something you dont see here much has anyone else done this reading this? keepin in mind these weigh in feather weight on the bridge last time around 840 kilo with conversion!! POWER TO WEIGHT! :)
Let me tell you a little about he car " Somebody else built it, so i cant really tell you much about it. " The only guy in the world who' s dad built and raced cars. Yet he clearly knows jack shit about them.
I have had 3 different engines... last was a 4age with high lift cams - Dellorto's setup to suit, head work, balanced etc high comp lots of work done made close to 200 horse but was not enough. The car should now make around 300 horse at wheels on a low boost setting thanks to 4agze with a custom turbo setup. People this is the way to go if you like a reliable ultra quick streeter. The N/a sound cool but to turn these into a rocket you need closer 300hp.
All original I'm not gonna change anything just put a 5 speed in it.... lol with the door speakers and 90s radio. He can for sure "beat one if he wants to" a muscle car that is with that 2spd auto. Hell he prolly can't keep tires on this thing may need drag radials to hook up.
I have had many of these corollas. The automatics are gutless and get poor mileage for a subcompact. My advice is to switch it over to a standard transmission with a matching rearend. It will affect it's performance and mileage dramatically.
If yr in NZ and wanting turbo 4age performance for one of these come talk to my mate Jarrad at Turbocare .... check the wesite below for a red starlet making over 300 horse at wheels on just a measly 12 pound boost. www.turbocare.co.nz/projects/

@Flynn Vihaan Glad I could help :D

That's one sweet corolla!
just bought one yesterday just as clean as yours RHD and manual transmission though
drove one of these back in 86, great little car, apart from the body rust.
My first car was a 1972 Carola and I drove it all over Seattle. But it had 4 doors.
Beautiful car!!!! And love the colour!!! My brother had one back In The early 90s in the UK , 1972 orange colour SL coupe Toyota Corolla. Beautiful car!!
I bought a 72 Corolla in Oakland at 1984 for $1,200. My first car for college.
Very nice ride sir, I wish it's mine hahah. Awesome job on keeping it running.
Dear where from you get the front grill
Love it, my car I loved the most was a 72 but the Sport Coupe not the Deluxe
Only one problem it is an automatic...
All of your weatherstripping looks really new. Did you have that replaced? If so where did you get it from. I am having trouble finding it for my 75 corolla TE31
Very very nice old Toyota, like it!!
Great car, great video!

Very nice car!!!
Love that car. I wish had one like this in Canada
The rear vents are actually working and they are not for "colling brakes." actuality, they are part of the cabin ventilation system and there should be air valves with vents in the sail pillars...
Nice mango but too bad it's automatic. Doubt you'll beat any muscle cars in it but it's a sweet ride.
When I see cars like this, it's hard to go out to the driveway and get in my 2012 Ford.

Ballin_status let him do his thing. It’s his car. But at the same time I think kept the classic look.
この車も好きだがフロントマスクはスプリンターの方が野性的で大好き❤
