thanks man,
For that first improvement I found a fix, but proceed with caution, if you have a heavier rig. My gimbal and camera package is about 15lbs with a 6k pro rather rigged out and crane 3s. The Crane 3s makes an extension pole of roughly 7.5” with 3/8” female receivers to mount to the 3/8” on the thanos pro 2 monopod and bottom of gimbal. This creates a larger circular radius that adds a significant amount of reach especially when you wanna do low shots. The only downside to this is it extends the leverage of the front end and makes you add more weight/extend the bottom end to compensate. And if you need extra weight at the front like you said, just rig up some smallrig 1/4” counterweights, the 200g ones can make a big difference.

Thanks for the tip on extending the gimbal further to get a longer (but heavier) setup. Thanos has since done an update to the steadicam portion that allows you to better balance the top end by shifting around the center pole point instead of what I suggested with an actual extendable top end. I recently found a telescopic gimbal extension pole, though I wonder how well it can handle a heavy gimbal setup with that much horizontal weight on the 1/4-20 mount. I think some company created a gimbal handle lock of sorts for these types of long bottom handle setups.

Haha birthday week definitely trumps over a review video! They have since fixed the steadicam portion and allow for the top half to be telescoped for better balancing. The arm weight distribution and length I believe is still the same.

I have their collar and weights for my crane 2 that they made sometime ago. Still looking for a vest that will fit me. This system looks good, but it sounds like it isn't balanced just right. Still, this is something I've been looking into. The dance vid looks great!

Definitely a nice system and is nearly there, very close. Granted I have never operated a steadicam system but I'd have to assume that there is somewhat of a balance between the spring arm side and the camera side even with the hollywood large rig setups. Otherwise it would just destroy a persons body. If I'm wrong and this is not the case with hollywood setups... I hope someone is listening and help save operators bodies so they arn't crooked for life!
I can definitely balance Thanos ProII horizontally, but only with the djji ronin rs2 batery grip on with a Sony A7III and a Tilta Gage. Which could come to confirm that there should be an extender of about 15cm above the collar to be able to use it with the Tilta base with Lemo 2 pin power input and V lock batteries.

I thought it was just me, the arm wasn’t going to my side like a normal Steadycam should, since I had never taken a Steadycam class before, I Thought maybe, I was doing something wrong, I kept bumping into the base of the gimbal while filming a wedding, I hope they hear you and fix that Arm, I will surely buy the upgrade, if they fix that arm issue.

I also haven't had much experience with a steadicam, based on what I thought I've seen, it just didn't feel right. Sure enough it seem a pro system has a longer (and probably heavier) arm to counter everything. I've been told they are working on it after I told them everything I found that could be improved to make the system more ergonomic. We shall see when it comes to fruition!

Haha being 6' tall isn't always all that and a bag of chips, especially as a filmmaker. I have to do mega squats to get the right angle for all epic shots with the action films I work on. I would have loved to try the Tilta to see if it balances better across the body, not too sure how comfortable only having a hip harness is versus the Thanos Pro's full harness.

So first things first! Do you trust the whole setup only being held in one screw on the weebil s?
And second is how did the weebil s react on the reverse shot and generally all the movement of the glide gear.

Yes, I trust it on the weebil S because of the lower main handle design, the center of gravity is much lower than a traditional one handed gimbal. However if you are to use a Crane S3 with a heavy setup, I'm not too sure at that point.
What do you mean by reverse shot? Do you mean if you just rotate the center pole so that the camera is facing you? If so it works just like any time you pan the gimbal into that orientation. I've done some very insane steadicam gimbal movements that doesn't look like much in the actual video, but if there was BTS footage of just how fast I was flying the camera in the setup. The gimbal kept up and didn't freakout, but of course I was moving in a way to lesson the chance of it happening. For the most part this system works as intended and I hope they fix the things I talk about to make it more versatile.

I use a C-stand center column when balancing because the setup is quite heavy, or if you have a heavy duty light stand that is solid metal with a very wide base, one that can withstand 25+ pounds.

If you are specifically talking about this Arri Trinity type setup. This is the cheapest so far that I have come across and reviewed. Thanks! The weight of the overall setup I think is close to 20 some pounds I believe. Oddly I want it heavier to make it even more stable. It's definitely such a fun product to use for long creative shots. Can't wait to do more with it!

Yes, this shouldn't have problems with the Aircross 2. The quick release plate that I used it just for how my gimbal was balancing. Supposedly they now include the setup with the slider weight so that you don't have to do what I did. I also had a very light setup, others have flown heavier setups and didn't seem to have a problem with weight on the gimbal end.

I know I'm kinda late to the party but have you tried using those extension poles for gimbals? Stick one between the gimbal portion and the steadicam portion for more reach. I know adding a piece makes it more dangerous for the camera but, hey, it'll give you the reach you wanted more than that 502 head did. And, BTW, if possible, find one that's aluminum rather than the carbon fiber ones since it'll give you more weight and, in case of failure, aluminum bends while carbon fiber shatters.

I did think about getting a pole to extend, but I still think it wouldn't be enough because the 502 head is quite heavy. I've been told Digitafoto is working on a top extension pole system for the top, I hope it will also some counter weights up top to really be able to balance out multiple configurations. We'll see!
Thats why Tilta Float has better desing, you can move the collar up or down throw the post anh ahve the perfect balance with many kind o cameras, that a really improvment. Right maybe an extension of the ppost can resolve that.

There are many options from the gimbal's own wireless follow focus modules that are powered by the gimbal (make sure it has a wireless remote wheel) or you can get something like the Tilta Nucleus Nano or the recent one I reviewed by PD movie.
The latter options are mounted with rails which most of the gimbals have an accessory for you to mount it. The trick is depending on your setup, you need to balance this extra weight. The Tilta is the lightest technically, but it is not self powered so you're going to need to find a way to power that thing by strapping a battery to your gimbal. The PD movie is going to add more weight to the front of the gimbal, so you're going to need to by gimbal counter weights to even it out.
This is the basics of it all, its not really going to be different mounting a follow focus system onto the gimbal while the gimbal is on the Thanos. You'll approach it with the same methods as we've had for the last couple of years.
The key point is to make sure whatever wireless follow focus you have has a wheel you like to use as that wireless wheel is going to mounted either on the Yoke bar where I had mounted my wireless monitor.
I Hope this make sense, if not simply look for a video that talks about "wireless follow focus on gimbal".

i wonder how a camera would function on this with it attaching to the arm without a gimbal and extension.... balancing gimbals and all the adjustments is getting exhausting .

I'm not sure if you can buy a traditional top side steadicam adjustment plate. If not you would need to buy a long QR plate to make forward and back adjustments. But you may also need another QR on top of that for Side to Side adjustment. With all that said, its probably just easier for you to just purchase a steadicam on its own that has all that already and just attach it to this vest or a vest of your choice. The design isn't too different between this steadicam and others, the top part is just different.
1) To avoid hitting knees against the counterweight, can't the mounting be spun 90 degrees? 2) Yes, the arm needs to be telescope-adjustable from the yoke to the camera. 3) When using the Manfrotto head, I noticed you used a quick mount plate. WOuldn't that solve the issue of potentially crossing the threads when mounting? I would tend the leave the Manfrotto mount permanently mounted to the Thanos. GREAT WORK!

Mounting the bottom counterweight at 90 could work, but I might have more chance of hitting it if I need to take a larger stride. Yea the manfrotto head or just a QR plate will minimize that in the long run. Unfortunately I had to really really tighten the plate to the gimbal as it would sometimes unscrew itself slightly. Think someone should make a gimbal 1/4-20 locking QR system that keeps this from happening thats also streamlined so you can just leave if on your gimbal. Kinda like a "camera cage" for your gimbal that lets you either go onto a QR or just screw a extension handle.

@@TLDR_filmmaker Ahh OK, as far as tightening the head (or a QR plate) to the gimbal goes -- I had the same general issue. I NEVER remove the camera from my Crane 3 Lab. I decided long ago that I want to use the camera/gimbal assembly on a tripod or a slide OR a spring arm from a vest mounted support system. All those have QR receiver plates. I did NOT want to trust a single mount point for that. So I got this from Smallrig: www.smallrig.com/smallrig-baseplate-for-zhiyun-crane-3s-handheld-stabilizer-2855.html. They make one for Crane 2 and crane 3 lab as well. If you look at the bottom, a QR plate slot can use TWO screws -- one 3/8 and one 1/4". No turning, no loosening. I trust it.

The belt's designed to rest on the hips -- could be awesome for my sometimes wonky lower back -- but think the belt may fit a 30/31" waist tightly enough to ease back stress? Also, I think officially it's not meant for carrying a cam without a gimbal, but hmmm... sure seems like it could be rigged to just carry a camera/be an easy rig replacement if I wanted to go handheld without my RS2? My waist (true waist) is around 35", I'm not entirely sure how snug the lower band will feel for your waist. I think it'll get close, but it may not feel super tight. If the vest turns out not to work for your waist, you may need to break out your sewering skills and alter where the nylon bands sticked points are to allow you to tighten it further.
You can definitely just carry a camera only if you bout some extra parts. You can either:
1) Use only a large cheese plate
2) Cheese plate with a QR plate either addressing the Y or X axis.
3) Cheese plate with two QR plates to address both axis after you find the main area you can balance most of your setups from.
The first option is if you're only ever using one prime lens on your setup and thats it. Once you find the correct 1/4-20 port that helps you achieve perfect balance, you'd never have to rebalance again with the same setup.
Option 2 and 3 gives you a somewhat traditional steadicam balance experience.
I guess the last bit is to see if you can find a steadicam balancing plate for sale on its own that accepts a 1/4-20 or 3/5 port. The only problem is that this single point mount is not very strong on its own and could twist loose, need a find a way to stabilize it with another point of contact.

May be some of these problems is fix in these steady "Proaim Flycam Zest Power Stabilizer (5-15kg) with Vista-II & Arm" the arm sims tobe larger and the fit up the giroscope sims tobe telescopic and able to extend with the camera

Just got my TPII. It's not clear whether it needs to be balanced both horizontally and vertically. I can get it perfect horizontally but if the aim is to have the gimbal turn back to the centre horizontally this then puts it out vertically. Any suggestions? Thanks.

@@TLDR_filmmakerYour film is great but I think the balancing link that you have is okay but doesn't make a few things clear about horizontal balancing. For me anyway. I'm not sure whether the system should sit in the middle or turn to the middle - when horizontal. I can easily make mine stay still but the guy in the film has it turning back to the centre.
Digitalfoto neglected to add something they called the "trinity counterweight" that helps it go back to the center. My setup happened to work out just fine without it. When I found this out later as if my packaging was a mistake, they said it was separate purchase which I do not agree with. That being said, its a easy DIY fix. Simply use anything like coins or a battery and affix it to the bottom rails where the counterweights are to make similar adjustments the way the guy does in the video.
With this setup you don't necessarily want the system to return to perfect horizontal. You want it to stay where you place it until it naturally and slowly moves back to whenever it may want to go. The whole idea of this setup is that it floats wherever you put it. Hope this helps!

For the most part the big difference is that the Tilta does not use a full vest type system rather arm is attached on a hip belt it seems. I'm not entirely sure if this design would make it harder or easier for you to do the ninja walk and move from standing to squating. I'd definitely love to compare the two to see which one feels better for the operator, for the most part I haven't heard any complaints about people using the Tilta Float.

Yup, I can put it on all by myself. You may or may not need someone to tighten the straps a little bit more depending on your preference of how tight the vest is to your body, but don't go too tight where your ribcage can't expand to breath fully.
As a professional steadicam , if your posture it’s ok u not gonna have back problems , I been doing this since 2001 and I have no problem , haw u learn that u go to the steadicam workshop it’s only 2000 dolares plus u get to meet with the legend Oscar winner garret brow

Makes sense about the posture, though I have to assume a industry made steadicam will have it rest much more evenly on your body than the way the Thano's is currently designed. With your rig do you feel that you can stand completely upright and you won't feel the whole system pull you off to the side? I would love to do that workshop, hopefully one of these days!

I've been wanting to test the Tilta Float, the only thing I'm not sure about is the harness only being a hip harness. I'm not sure if that would be good or bad without the extra frame supporting the rigs weight against the mass of your body. Do you have the Tilta Float? If so what are your thoughts?

@@TLDR_filmmaker yes , I recently purchased tilts float , it was my first time ever to use a steady cam , though I got it balanced roughly 80% correct , as I didn’t saw footstep even in running shot , but it did pulled me to front which caused strain on back . But it you lower the belt on to hips , it’s okay . I use to shoot on ronin S with one hand , I think it’s equally straining .
I think I will get better each time I put it on . But I loved the types of shots u can take with it 💗

It looks like (I can't be sure) DigitalFoto has a "Smart Thanos Pro II VERSION 2): ruclips.net/video/yrrBvJDdu-8/видео.html It seems they addressed some of your issues with light rigs or simply a longer segment between the yoke and the gimbal. It also seems from the video that the spring arm assembly is more to the SIDE of the operator. I've contacted them for clarification.

I believe this is just a double positive in the way they titled the video, its not a Version 2 of Thanos Pro 2. It's the same. The little extension could either be from Digitalphoto or something you can purchase additionally thats usually used for either cameras or gimbals. I am thinking about getting one of those, but I'd still like to be able to extend the top for more length and counter balance. I have a feeling If I drill my own holes into the center of the vest, the Thanos Pro II would probably be balanced just right instead of where it sits soo far to the side.

Why on earth do you have a 502 head in between the gimbal and the rest of the rig? That seems a little unnecessary

I don't know how far into the video you got, but I detail it out very specifically why the 502 head needs to be there. If it isn't there then my setup won't work on this rig. (Top weight not heavy enough for any of the counterweight options supplied)

Why on earth are you asking a question that was perfectly answered in the video? That seems a little unnecessary.
Do not buy the thanos pro 2, there is no way to balance the arm because there is nothing to adjust in the part where the arm connect to the vest and therefore you will never be able to have the entire system balanced. You are suppose to release the arm and it shouldnt go forwards or backwards, or left or right, but this is only possible with vest and arms that has adjusment knobs in the part the arm connects to the vest, the thanos pro 2 doesnt have it. So you will never be able to balance it. This guy must probably accepted the 20% money return that digital foto offers you if you do a video showing this equipment in a positive way even if it doesnt work. I refused that and asked them for a refund and returned and they didnt want it, I actually beg them and Lydia didnt give a damn. Dont buy this thing from then, all they want and do , is to make a sell, you are warned.
I'm not sure what you mean, the Thanos Pro 2 has tension adjustments in the arm so that the arm doesn't move when you let go.
@@TLDR_filmmaker Those tension adjustments are for the sled weight, there should be adjustments in the part where the arm connects to the vest.
