Cholesterol will go down for a year or more after 2 weeks without alcohol, potatoes, rice pasta and bread (carbs). If you add no meat, even better. Fish, sea food onions, fruits, artichokes, salads etc are not a great sacrifice to eat.
Yolly would make a terrific improv actor - no matter what James says, she just rolls with it and jokes right back. They have such an entertaining rapport :)
What a treat! My first visit to Spain was in Alcalá de Henares 15 years ago while my daughter was attending university there. She fell in love with the country and is there to this day, raising her family.
Great videos. As a man of a certain age and health problems I have a small Bucket List. One of the things I’ve always wanted to see is the painting Guernica. Any tips of where to stay in Madrid that’s close to the museum, four or five star. I’ll be flying in from the UK and want to stay for four or five days. I love Spain. Still so underrated culturally by so many who just head for the beaches.
Madrid has really beautiful towns in its province such as Chinchón, Aranjuez, San Lorenzo de El Escorial and of course also Alcalá de Henares. Great video!! Greetings
This was a great video! You two looked like you were having so much fun, so lighthearted! It is always important for the two of you to take time to be together.
Another wonderful video! I especially like the ones with both of you in them. Love Spain as well- will never be moving there as there is too much family and responsibility keeping me in the US but somehow I find myself visiting yearly
Oh! Love this video! Lived there for 16 yrs while my dad was stationed at Torrejón AFB…my mom is from Huelva. Hay un bar cerca de la universidad, se llama El Hidalgo, tiene murales de cerámica de don Quijote y son preciosos! Y las tapas, enormes! La próxima! ❤🇪🇸
I was stationed at Torrejon AB from '86 to '90 and lived in Alcala. I did only 4 years with the AF and it was definitely the best time of my life. I moved back to Madrid in 2021 and go to Alcala often and it's still amazing to me.
Thank you once again. Whenever I long for my 'happy place', your videos satisfy that need. I recall Alcala for one drunken night of which the details elude my memory, but my fondness of Spain in general is still strong. I hope that you are all well and good, and that the long string of videos continues.
Spain, in addition to Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville and Malaga, has many more impressive historical cities. Cordoba, Avila, Segovia, Salamanca, Cuenca, Toledo, Valladolid, Girona, Tarragona, Cartagena, Cadiz, Granada, Lleida, Zaragoza, La Coruña,Lugo,Ponferrada,Aviles,Gijon,Santander,Oviedo,Comillas....and I still left dozens more
A town with historical sites and also good gastronomy is what does it for me. Alcalá de Henares might just be my next getaway. Thanks for sharing this lively and informative video. It’s good to see you walking and eating your way through Spain (something I’m doing as well).
We are fascinated by all things Cervantes and Catherine of Aragon so this day trip is definitely added to the next trip to Madrid. Thanks again for these videos on the not so well known spots in Spain.
We visited Alcalá when living in Madrid and really loved this historic day trip! It's definitely a place more people should visit when coming to Madrid, especially for the free tapas! Another wonderufl video, James and Yoly!
So wonderful to see you both back!! Thoroughly enjoyed this video. It was the perfect mix of history and FOOD ‼️ I enjoy your videos more than you can possibly know, and really look forward to them🫶🏽 The food, ahhhh …a buen tiempo!
...if I would hate your videos, Yoly & James, I would hate this one too, but I don't! Alcala has to be an amazing day trip from Madrid (I made a mental note), and when I see you munching on all those delicious tapas, I can only roll my eyes in delight and envy!! 🍷🫒 I just love how history oozes out of every corner of those old Spanish towns and villages (I walked twice through the whole north of Spain on the camino, so I saw quite a bit of that)... you're doing such a fantastic job with your channel - love to you both!!! 💖
James and Yoly! Thanks for sharing! I really need to renew my passport and build up my confidence, to visit Spain once again as now a lone traveller. I have had some amazing trips there, in the past with some of my best friends. Much ❤ to you both and to your little one
Great to see you two back out and about. I'm keeping my fingers crossed you head to Almeria one day soon, as that's my next Spanish sojourn. (I'd appreciate any hints and tips from other channel fans too. )
Alcala is a very fun city. In-fact, I used to always go to the best whiskey sour bar in the area there in Plaza de Cervantes. I agree, that if you visit Madrid, Alcala and also Segovia (you could probably toss in Avila as well) are MUST day visits. Hell, if you're gonna go that way spend a day at Sacedon in the summer. LOL
@@spainrevealed If you do go, make sure that on the way you stop in the small town of Tendilla. Very charming small town on the road between Guadalajara and Sacedon. I think that it was bypassed by a newer highway since I live there but it is well worth a lunch stop. Sorry, I love La Mancha.
Muchas Gracias for this great video James and Yolly ! I loved to see your romantic day without your beautiful daughter. I think that its important that parents can also enjoy some time without their children some times. Alcala de Henares looks really good, and I had never heard of it before, so thanks a lot for the tipp. Do you think that it would be worthwile to spend 1-2 nights there, and not only visit on a day trip from Madrid ?
Looks like a great town to visit from Madrid! We just bought a place in the Malaga area, and will be moving late 2024 🙂... You always inspire us, and I really enjoy these non-fancy looks at nice little eateries/drinkeries. Thanks, Yoli and James!
James you are getting "Tapa Schooled" by Yoly, or she's been going out a lot more than you have lately, Or both! Nice to see you out eating again!. I'm back in Madrid on the 5th of April and this has got me very excited.
Lovely to see you guys out and about without baby girl , nice to be a couple sometimes and not parents ! Great video as always ...is it me or is Yolli looking younger in every video ?
As always, a very informative video. We've been to Alcala de Henares several times and in fact visited one of the bars you featured in the video but for some reason the tapas we were given after buying a beer didn't resemble the generous tapas you received - it was simply a plate with olives and cheese. I still can't figure out why were treated so differently.
Alcalá is a great day trip - fully agree with you! But I didn’t enjoy the food at - there was nothing different from Madrid or other cities. We tried 4 best rated places and only 1 stood out. Food-wise Toledo is still my favorite day trip.
Also the birthplace of Ferdinand I, Holy Roman Emperor, the younger brother of Carlos I/V. Ferdinand grew up in Spain under the watchful eyes of their grandparents - Los Reyes Catolicos. He was assigned the patrimonial lands of the Habsburgs in Central Europe, thus founding the Austrian line of the family.
Exactamente.
The expulsion of the _Moriscos_ (not exactly Moors btw) in Spain has more to do with the fact that they constantly revolted in the region of the Alpujarras, where they lived, and were in collusion with the Sultan of Turkey at a time when the danger of invasion was real and imminent. Nothing to do with Cisneros. By the way, the man died in 1517 and the expulsion took place in 1609.
Hay que aclarar que ¡también es la oficina central del Instituto Cervantes! Es el equivalente del British Institute, Alliance Française y del Goethe Institut! ¿Porfa? Esto es nuevo para mí. ¿Únicamente Madrileño?
Great to see you two out and about eating tapas. Guessing Lucia is at Grand ma and pa's so she can be spoiled (just a little),lol. Thanks for taking us along, always fun and educational.👍💕
Loved this video, you two are a fun couple and I was laughing with all the "if you hate this" comments. Food is one of the many marvelous things about Spain. I've never been disappointed with the food in Spain. Next trip, I'll visit Alcalá de Henares for sure. ((Que lástima que no estoy en España)).
I was fascinated to learn the origin of "empollon" swot. Wealthy students in Alcala would pay poorer students to sit on benches to warm them up, just like a hen nests
You mean' QUEEN OF CASTILE & LEON... not of SPAIN... her grandson, the Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, is the first official monarch of unified spain as Charles I...
Really love your videos. However, it would be really good if James didn't snatch the food from his fork with his teeth. More like Yoly would be great. Thank you.
