    The lenses featured in this video are Nikon F Mount lenses: 50mm F1.4, 105mm F2.5, 28mm F3.5.

    I shoot vintage glass a lot and love how it looks, also using manual focus is kinda fun too.

      That’s good to hear man, it just has a magical look about it. I actually enjoy manual focus too 😁

    Vintage lenses can be great with digital sensors but it completely depends on the look you’re going to for your project! There’s a time for everything, especially when it comes to using vintage lenses!

    • @TheFilmFinesse

      Yes, 100% depends on the project, I always prefer the organic look you get from a vintage lens when doing narrative work

    Cant you just turn down sharpening on your camera? Or don't shoot on Sony?

    • @TheFilmFinesse
      @TheFilmFinesse  Год назад +3

      Yes you can turn down the digital sharpening in camera. The test footage is shot on a Blackmagic not a Sony. As mentioned, older glass is a way of obtaining an organic softness instead of digital methods.

    In fact : the main advantage to use good vintage lenses : Have a very simple optical-design, high sharpness...but low contrast. With mecanical focusing with long-travel ring. But your wrong when you talk "less sharpness" : we use some vintage glasses for really good sharpness.

    • @TheFilmFinesse
      @TheFilmFinesse  Год назад +2

      You said it yourself: ‘some vintage glasses’ meaning not all. It is very lens specific, as demonstrated in the video. The 50mm modern lens demonstrated a greater level of sharpness than the 50mm vintage lens.

      @@TheFilmFinesse yes, some. Like today modern lenses : i use some of them. Each years i try some lenses. i keep few of them. i think english call that "taste". vintage are absolutely not use today for lack of sharpness 😂 that a internet-hype. We use only the best of the best sharpness vintage lense for shoting today. Just very few. Not about they price. Just for the pictures.

      please try to understand : you always be able to pull-off sharpness, in PP. always. But you don't be able to reduce contrast, really, in PP. We use vintage glass for less contrast : because its really help to capture all dynamic range, especially when background are not in focus. It works on film, it work on sensor : less contrast when you capture your pictures is often very welcome. sorry for my bad english.. but, i try to help, no fake no bukshit. good work

      @@beyondourarena2207People don’t opt to use vintage lenses for “low contrast”.
      Like I say in the video people use vintage glass for the character of the lens. Softness is one these characteristics.
      If you want a sharp image you use modern glass like I say in the video. Nobody uses vintage lenses for a sharp image.
