This was really just a disguised rant so that I could talk about how horrible Ghostrunner's puzzle segments are. But take all of this with a grain of salt, it's either satire, or is lacking some information because I didn't completely finish Ghostrunner, the puzzles ruined it for me.

Ultrakill fans watching the 194628th video on why it's the best game:
Also, fun fact: Ultrakill has a secret level that you can gain access to in the first limbo level that's made up entirely out of puzzles. And not the fun kind.
I will watch another one yet
but its a reference so its fine and doesnt count (im coping)
Ultrakill secret level: not at all mandatory, a *secret* level, actually challenging puzzles that won't harm gameplay if you avoid the level
Ghost runner puzzle: mandatory part of the gameplay that is shoved down your throat whether you like it or not
(I will continue to watch more, and you can't stop me!!)
It becomes fun when you place a virtue in the spawn room
AND I'LL WATCH MORE DAMN IT!
I will be continuing my trend of watching 80million videos in a row about why Ultrakill absolutely slaps
I didn’t read the full title and read “How ULTRAKILL destroys other MOBILE games”
That one is coming soon hahaha. It'd be a 3 second video.

The thing is that the most pace-breaking things in Ultrakill are secret levels which aren't required to beat the game. Also, one thing that Ultrakill also has going for is having more than one great aspect: Namely, movement and combat. If there's no combat, you can still move as wildly as you want.
If you try speedrunning Ultrakill in New Game + category, you'll notice how rarely your pace is broken. You only lose control for about 4 seconds between exiting a level and entering a new one. There is also no slow menuing or mini-cutscenes. In just a New Game file, there are a few forced breaks but still much less than most other first-person shooters.
Which is what I love about it honestly, the devs knew exactly what the target audience was, and put any content that was outside of the niche's theme under an optional path. That's really valuable insight to me honestly because I haven't done a lot of the secret areas personally thanks.
@@siahsneaka Fortunately, even secret levels can be a subject to speedruns.
Azali mentioned
(also fun fact, Azali made part of the fraudulence custom level's soundtrack)
Wait really?? Dude I've been supporting Azali for like 8 months and I had no clue. They are crazy humble.
And even Ultrakill has a full "The witness" puzzle secret level, and it's even fun!
good thing he didn't mention THAT open world segment in gr2
NOT THE EASY PETES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well shoot I might have to play Ultrakill now
It is peak brother
its so good play it

@@siahsneaka I thought like "maybe it gets sentient and I need to kill it", then I discovered the secret level of the prologue, and I learned it
@@Carlos-Perez Lol I honestly couldn't figure out how to pick them up despite the game literally telling me how. I walked around hitting things for like 30 minutes.
THE best pace breaker in the game is 7-S
Most of the secret levels are nice pace breakers, but if you have played 7-S you know what I mean. It was AMAZING. And please people, don't spoil what the level is should anyone feel the need to reply to this. Let's keep it vague for new players and just say that it integrates with the original mechanics of ultrakill more than most other secret levels.
7-S was all fun and games until i realised the real objective T_T spent an hour finishing the level. It was still a nice break of pace tho
Ultrakill may be fast but your facecam is certainly not lmao no offense though

Ultrakill is great, it's far better than other mobility shooters I've played like Reaver, Turbo Overkill, Enchained, Titanfall and Doom Eternal among others.

I will not stand for the ghostrunner slander.
Ultrakill is great too tho.
I still adore Ghostrunner. I’m just too slow for puzzles lol.
@@siahsneaka The puzzles took me like 15 minutes of randomly pushing switches the first time. Then.... I got motivated to speedrun the game by a friend....
As a huge ghost runner fan, the people complaining about the simple 3 minute puzzles that a newborn baby could do simply are just stupid. Especially considering that you spend half the game playing bad tetris yet nobody complains about that.
Also imo that level doesn't break pacing anymore then the screen between levels does, if you can't handle 3 minutes of ur game not being a extremely fast pace sweat fest then ig you should stop taking bathroom breaks while taking either.
@just_a_fire_hydrant Wish I could stop working, kind of ruins life’s pacing. (It’s still a wonderful game, I’m just picky whenever it comes to switchups in games tbh.)
Titanfall movement is very similar
Personaly i played both of the games are actually great the puzzles meh but yeah they ain't a problem
The puzzles probably just drive me crazy because I have like one brain cell lol.
lol
@@siahsneaka Crazy? I was crazy once.
the only thing i don't like about ULTRAKILL is the fanbase, and that you can't double jump
What do you mean? Ultrakill's fanbase is the most mentally stable and sane fanbase ever!!
No brainrot at all!!
That's two things, and do you _really_ need a double jump when you can just slam storage (ground slam -> walljump while slamming) into the previous layer?
@@the866-sushi translate to English please I do not understand Ultrakill slang
@@unfunnyboiyee long explanation below, but to cut it short:
ground slam --> walljump. that's it.
Ground Slam: Press Slide (default key [Ctrl]) in the air to achieve instantaneous terminal velocity without horizontal components (specifically, 100 vu/s and 0 hu/s). Can be cancelled with a Dash (default key [Shift]) or with touching the ground. Note that holding Slide upon hitting the ground leads to a horizontal circular shockwave being sent out that deals no damage but launches lightweight grounded enemies to the same height at the point initiated, though capped at a point. In addition, *ground slamming stores kinetic energy from distance fallen, also capped at the same aforementioned point. This can be translated into either **-veritcal-** vertical or horizontal movement.*
Walljump: Self-explanatory. Notable qualities include a maximum number of walljumps of 3, resetting only after touching the ground or a solid enemy's surface; walljumping resetting speed to a preset amount of "i forgot" vu/s and "i don't know" hu/s; and (most crucial and relevant to the original reply) *walljumping not resetting the state of the player, such as slamming or sliding.*
Combining the two mechanics, one notices that slamming, then walljumping, leads to the player jumping up the wall with the reset motion of a walljump while still building the same kinetic energy from slamming. _This is called a slam storage._
you remind me of the person who asked why can't V1 climb ladders

I agree! I probably could have explained my issues with it better. I like the puzzles themselves, but my fps brain got angry going from the fast paced action to puzzle mode lol.
