- ULTRAKILL is one of the best FPS Games on the market right now. It's fast, vibrant, and has tons of style. A game that knows what it is and isn't afraid to branch out while also innovating on it's sub-genre. A Lightning in a bottle kind of opportunity to experience something new and refreshing.

best thing about ultrakill (imo) is the fact that boss encounters could be hours long or literally seconds. makes you realize how much you really improved
Exactly. I had A LOT OF TROUBLE defeating the 4-4 boss my first playthrough.
When I was showing the game off to my friend (Basically after P-ranking all of ACT 1), I beat the boss in 3 tries.
When I was going for the 4-4 P-rank, I beat him first try, also P-ranking the level.
People have found ways to instakill V2 (1-4)
I assume you mean hours as in you keep dying but I misunderstood as literally just fighting a boss for 4 hours on one attempt

Fun fact about claire de lune: You don't need to get the skulls, in fact you can just be more badass by shooting the window above the door and jumping through it.
I discovered this on my first attempt, and thought that the 3rd skull doesnt exist and itz part of the puzzle

I love how Ultrakill keeps every weapon viable through progression and have all of the different varients with unique mechanics that I don't see in other games.
[MY OPINION. Plus, it just occurred to me in the middle of typing this that the creator of this video already talked about the weapons...I'm just rlly passionate abt this ig lmao] [TL;DR: Hard agree, OP!]
Piercer - Line up some weaker enemies to kill faster, usually filth and strays.
C o i n (Marksman,) - Useful for Drones and other quick-moving enemies. Can be paired with railcannon, Piercer, and other weapons to wipe out bosses in SECONDS. V2 Bully Weapon.
Sharpshooter - Personally nuke projectile enemies. Also a middle-finger to rows of fodder enemies, and big enemies like the hideous mass or cerberus.
Core Shotgun - Good for bullet-punching, and nuking/exploding enemies. Good for crowd-control.
Pump Shotgun - Explode enemies, if you're skilled enough, you can do this WITHOUT the 50 health toll. ALSO good for crowd-control.
Sawed-On - Melee AND gun. Also, you can combo parry the alt.
Shotgun Alt - Full Melee, requires skill, and is VERY useful for taking down big enemies, like bosses.
Attractor Nailgun - Good for mowing down fodder enemies quickly, and also maurices. If your enemy is too quick, stick a magnet on 'em and open fire anywhere. Charges up the Overheat, as well.
Overheat - Good for bypassing the Attractor's limit for a short period of time, can set enemies on FIRE.
Jumpstart - Works in tandem with the Attractor, and a double-edged sword for Wrath, or anywhere with water. Stick 2 magnets on an enemy, have a group wander into some water and so long you don't get too far away while using the taser, they will all die from electrocution.
Alt Nailgun (Attractor) - Amazing for slower enemies, or Swordsmachine.
Piercing Railcannon - Like piercer, but can go on for a longer line and more OP. Can be used with the coins to create an ultrariccoshot. Smite them all.
Screwdriver/Drill - Useful for 7-4, big enemies, and both prime sanctum boss fights. Does longer damage, and can heal from a distance.
Malicious Railcannon: You can nuke things. Core + Malicious railcannon. Huge powertrip.
Rocket Launcher - You can ride your rockets, more mobility.
S.R.S - Bigger boom.
Firestarter - BECOME THE STREETCLEANER, BURN THE HIDEOUS MASSES. I mean..Great for crowd-control, AND dealing damage to the wrath boss, and others.
[Slab variant not mentioned here bc yeah. It'll prolly just be used automatically anyway]
you see, every hitscan weapon can be defected by the coin and the piecer charge is a hitscan, you can guess the rest, also great editing work there
Certain enemy attacks are also hitscan

I think my favorite little thing with ultrakill is that, whenever someone reviewing the game says something along the lines of such and such is too whatever, the problem can be boiled down to skill issue

@@NeatOz I’m a little late but I also bought this for Christmas, but there was one issue. I am TERRIBLE at fps. I never even played it. I still had a fun time though and p ranked everything dispute how hard it was (I did do it on violent, thanks for asking) and now I’m proud to say that I’m good at fps! This TRUELY was the game of the year, merry christmas
Ultrakill is a rare beast, an experimental sucess that is rooted in old styles like older doom style FPS and old combo systems of hack and slash games merged into each other seamlessly.
Ultrakill Doesn't feel like dusk, amid evil or even like unreal. It doesn't have the resource management aspects inherent in the original genre, nor the style of maps, not even like the multiplayer deathmatch arena style maps, it doesn't have the weapon hierarchy traditional in the original genre it's based on (again). It has mutated soo much from quake despite that being a strong part of it's influence that it has a completely unique impression. Not to mention it's just polished to an absurd degree.

I just want to say, Something wicked is one of the most scary horror levels I played recently, and all it had is a breathing Blender Armature model
i swear the fear that enters my body when the visual novel level is mentioned is so intense
(mostly a joke, its garrenteed your going to get a crazy good speech abt how life is worth living and I'm all for it)
I remember when I first played the visual novel level, I thought, "Oh, Hakita, you son of a bitch. You son of a bitch! I'm not playing this game to get emotional, man!!"
Haha but it was pretty good. I really enjoyed it and it wasn't what I was expecting at all, really loved how it was written.
corpse of king minos is a boss that basically teaches you to improvise with parrying
Ultrakill weapons feel like they are so basical to the regular eye, but have SO MANY COMBOS, AND TECHNIQUES! HELL, WE MAY STILL HAVE SOME UNDISCOVERED THAT THE COMMUNITY STILL HAS! The game literally WANTS you to discover these things. It never says “hey, press this, then punch that” or “press this, freeze it, and jump on it. If you shoot it, it go boomboom” and thats what i love about it. IT WANTS CREATIVITY AND DEMANDS YOU TO TRY TO DISCOVER THESE! On accident or on purpose! Good job on the devs for doing that. Honestly havent seen many games with that.

At around 12:30 you talk about how you need 3 skulls to progress. One thing I love about this game (and that I think shows its personality) is that you have to search so hard for the 3 skulls, find them, and there's some lore attached with the book... or you can just shoot the glass panel above the door and skip all of that. It's outside the box and I love it

Pretty good video - I've seen basically every video essay on Ultrakill out there, I guess that's what happens when you're obsessed and in love with a game, and I quite liked this one. I gotta say, knowing you play Overwatch, your editing style reminds me a lot of Marblr's, who you might or might not know. The cadence of your speech a bit too! Love your transitions and your humor.
You know, I do know if Marblr however I didn't know a lot about him not watched him back when I was working on this video. I do now though!
In Ultrakill, you can: (some spoilers below)
-Parry a giant fist
-Instantly kill a Greater Machine with a well timed explosion
-Nuke an entire area full of Strays, Schisms, and Soldiers, instantly killing them all
-Crash Bandicoot an angel
-Ride a rocket
-Do that same nuke but from orbit
-Launch yourself into orbit
-Slam enemies into orbit
-Dash through an explosion created by your shotgun, resulting in no damage
-PUNCH THE COIN
Man your usage of sfm is amazing. Makes the visuals extremely interesting.
I LOVE that you put a huge emphasis on lust's secret mission. the first time I went through it I was in a bit of a shock and I think it was the most important part of the game for me, and what sold it as one of my absolute favorites. the gameplay in this is some of the most fun I've had playing a game EVER and I'm so so glad I found it

Also, the part around 17:30. I didn't know that was actually in the game. but to build off of that segment specifically I want to add. building your own path in this world, and creating your own purpose, cannot work without Morals and Laws. it's valuable to consider your own limitations, and understand how what you do can effect others. I believe that we're all here for an unknown reason, and that we all have a purpose whether we create that purpose or not, but that's a different conversion...

I've played practically almost all the best fps games ever made and Ultrakill is hands down one of the best ever made even with it not fully out yet. There was something that happened after Half Life came out in 1998. People suddenly became obsessed with making games focused on story over gameplay. Yes HL is one of the best games ever but games stopped looking at Doom or Quake and looked at Half Life. We didn't go back to basics until the late 2010's when games like Dusk came out and revived the genre and showed that there's still a market for these types of shooters. Ultrakill is just an extension and refinement of what should of came a long time ago. It also wouldn't have been possible if the indie gaming revolution didn't happen in the late 2000's and made it viable for a single person or small teams to make games. Without that I doubt we would have gotten a game like this ever.
