honestly, v1 being quite uneducated in fighting a fast and actually smart foe makes sense here since this IS the last fight of act1, this is before v1 even fought minos. sure v2 might have been some trouble but in all honesty an v1 with a bit of experience can easily beat up a self centred prideful copy. but here, we can see v1 is struggling. in direct confrontation with gabriel we can see v1 was going the defensive, not being able to keep up with his attacks. however, the more the fight goes on, the more this v1 starts to learn, running simulation upon simulation. here in 4:41 is what i like to believe is the moment v1 started to run even more simulations that usual after this moment, v1 essentially became more aggressive, he still has a bit of trouble sure, but this is still pre-minos v1 AND pre v2-second encounter v1, so you cant blame him
V1 could've ABSOLUTELY blocked the sword at 4:55. V1 was calculating. It *knew* he was getting in close. It *knew* it would get a chance to repair itself.

ACT 1 Gabe for example always sounds so right and prideful that if he states that sky is down and the ground is up and you disagree, he'll tell you that Universe itself is wrong *and universe would stop and think about that for a second.*

I love this. Not only the choreography is amazing, but the fight looks and feels like what it would be like to fight an actual archangel, plus the fact that gabriel here gave V1 actual trouble, only for his hubris to be shatered
I love the ending scene. All eyes on V1 as it proves to be THE most entertaining thing Hell has seen so far if it can beat Gabriel, and now it has its full attention as that same distorted "take care" theme from the end of the Earthmover fight plays.

6:23 i just love this moment , seeing gabriel gaining space and going in circle around v1 in this style just make me want to rewatch it 100 hundred time
I adore the call-forward to the Apostate of Hate animation by having Gabriel's "enraged" texture fade in as if it's just the typical red blush of a body pumping blood faster than normal thanks to the adrenaline rush. More specifically, when you can see it creeping across his body, but then he stifles it to try and not let V1 get in his head. It's also refreshing to see such a widely varied back-and-forth with these two. One having the other on the backfoot, only to turn it around with sheer cunning and a willingness to take a hit to dish out something worse. From V1 using its own impalement to get point blank for a bloodbath, to Gabriel managing to fight off V1 despite it using all three of its arms, one of which is holding one of his own swords. And then the art direction for the freefall enrage phase was likewise, an absolutely phenomenal reference to the promotional art while still maintaining a clear visual on what was going on.
God, what a fantastic video. You're genuinely one of the best Ultrakill animators on the planet. Two little nitpicks though. First, Gabriel doesn't actually use his swords until his second fight. I'm sure you knew that and decided to include them anyway, but I feel obligated to comment it. Second, I feel like I have a hard time reading the action for a majority of the fight. I don't know if its an issue with posing or what. Although I speculate it's due to the high quality models of even the background objects trying their hardest to steal my attention from everything else. I suspect this is the case because this problem instantly went away during the rage section. That was simply peak cinema. Regardless, thank you so much for animating. The UK community wouldn't be the same without you.
The middle part of the fight really didn't play out that well, yeah, during the falling sequence with the scenery. Too many action shots, confusing colour palette, overuse of black bars (they're good but not when in every other shot) and blending into the backgrounds and the cuts make it particularly hard to read. That and the lack of impact in that part during the ranged combat. The monochrome after really put it up again, though. Earthshaker fight was better overall - I do think there were quite the number of good parts at least.

Based on the tone of voice Gabriel has after getting blasted by the shotgun, it sounds like he's actually starting to actually realize how dangerous V1 is but is trying to keep up his composure, or maybe he was just recovering from the pain of getting half his face blown off, I dunno

Also love his wings dropping at 7:06 when the coin trick doesn't work, great way to show emotion when he doesn't really have a face

I love this. Not only the choreography is amazing, but the fight looks and feels like what it would be like to fight an actual archangel, plus the fact that gabriel here gave V1 actual trouble, only for his hubris to be shatered

I love the ending scene. All eyes on V1 as it proves to be THE most entertaining thing Hell has seen so far if it can beat Gabriel, and now it has its full attention as that same distorted "take care" theme from the end of the Earthmover fight plays.
Another absolute masterpiece. You really get better with every animation. The details in v1’s armour, the effects on gabriel, the choreography are all spectacular.

I've always loved how in the intro monologue, Gabriel's just there in the background going on about the layers of this palace and the will of God, and V1 is just "oh wowie bone hand!" and not listening at all

I adore the call-forward to the Apostate of Hate animation by having Gabriel's "enraged" texture fade in as if it's just the typical red blush of a body pumping blood faster than normal thanks to the adrenaline rush. More specifically, when you can see it creeping across his body, but then he stifles it to try and not let V1 get in his head.
It's also refreshing to see such a widely varied back-and-forth with these two. One having the other on the backfoot, only to turn it around with sheer cunning and a willingness to take a hit to dish out something worse. From V1 using its own impalement to get point blank for a bloodbath, to Gabriel managing to fight off V1 despite it using all three of its arms, one of which is holding one of his own swords. And then the art direction for the freefall enrage phase was likewise, an absolutely phenomenal reference to the promotional art while still maintaining a clear visual on what was going on.
God, what a fantastic video. You're genuinely one of the best Ultrakill animators on the planet. Two little nitpicks though.
First, Gabriel doesn't actually use his swords until his second fight. I'm sure you knew that and decided to include them anyway, but I feel obligated to comment it.
Second, I feel like I have a hard time reading the action for a majority of the fight. I don't know if its an issue with posing or what. Although I speculate it's due to the high quality models of even the background objects trying their hardest to steal my attention from everything else. I suspect this is the case because this problem instantly went away during the rage section. That was simply peak cinema.
Regardless, thank you so much for animating. The UK community wouldn't be the same without you.
For a second i thought you were talking about the United Kingdom, and i was so confused 😂
The middle part of the fight really didn't play out that well, yeah, during the falling sequence with the scenery. Too many action shots, confusing colour palette, overuse of black bars (they're good but not when in every other shot) and blending into the backgrounds and the cuts make it particularly hard to read. That and the lack of impact in that part during the ranged combat.
The monochrome after really put it up again, though.
Earthshaker fight was better overall - I do think there were quite the number of good parts at least.
I love how, while there's tons of visual noise, you can still see and understand everything you see.
This deserves millions of views, i can feel the passion and dedication on this and every video you make. Big fan.

Edit: wow, I just realized that Gabriel was seemingly purposefully keeping V1 from regenning for the first half of the fight - most of his attacks were ranged and when he closed in he struck with such ferocity that V1 couldnt get any meaningful splatter off of him
Thats why Gabrial basically goofed when he started yapping before his opponent was dead - and I love how the shotgun splatter *then* visibly recovers his wounds
