    I have one of these and to me the big weakness is that the clamp doesn't hold a lot of knives very tight at all. If you start buying upgrade kits and all sorts of attachments you could just buy a tsprof or similar in the first place.

    I found it’s easier to sharpen the blade of a Swiss Army Classic, or similarly small pocket knife, if I clamp the handle scales, instead of the blade, in the Worksharp Precision Adjust clamp. The Classic SD just barely fits in the clamp, but it does fit.
    By the way, Victorinox Swiss Army knives have a factory bevel angle of 20 degrees. If you want to reprofile it to 25 degrees, you certainly can, but you’ll be regrinding the edge.

    If you'll push the abrasive into the knife instead of using the sawing motion, you'll get a sharper edge. You can take that little Swiss army down to about a 100 on a BESS tester, with that method vs. sawing. Sawing gets you about a 250 on BESS tester.

    Can use Lansky stones on Work Sharp system...drill 1 hole in each end of finger grip low at narrow portion...insert small zip tie...slide in Work Sharp guide rod...snug to where they still slide smooth...I then use my Klein angle meter to get the rod angle right....Works great.

    Surprised you could sharpen that little blade. But that was at 25 degrees, and I bet at 20 your stone his the clamp. I just got the Tormek small knife holder and that is the best addition for precision adjust for small blade sharpening. You clamp the handle instead of the blade and it works great at any angle.

    You can never get the blade holder tight enough. They need to put a bolt in the middle so you can tighten the holder to hold the blade.
    The guy making the table attachment could add a parking spot for the stone holder. He could place a rod inside the table brace, that sticks up about 4” and add something like his little stabilizer brace to the rod to support the stone holder.

      I use a Wicked Edge in a lot of my videos too, I guess each to their own.... This Worksharp Precision Adjust does a great job for the price, but no matter what system you have, just take your time and keep practicing and you will get sharp knives, best of luck to you.

    One significant concern i have over the worksharp precision adjust is the ability to sharpen shallow angles on knives that don't have much of a blade depth, such as fillet or paring knives. even fitting a knife such as that into the clamp, if attempting to use the v cut to contact the spine, may not allow for the knife to be sharpened at all. It seems the work around is what you did with that 'teency' swiss army knife. but then the issue remains that any shallow angle, as would be used by thin blade kitchen knives, is not possible. am i overthinking it?

    • @mikesaint114
      @mikesaint114 2 года назад +2

      I had this exact issue and almost returned the sharpener over this as when trying to sharpen small Global knives at 15 degrees if you try and go back and forth you just keep on hitting the clamp, however if you go side to side it works perfectly. It takes a bit of practice to learn and get used to it, but I absolutely love this sharpener after having it for a week I had to buy the upgrade kit as well.

    • @bjornegan6421
      @bjornegan6421 2 года назад

      @@mikesaint114 So are you keeping the stone 'carrier' below the clamp the entire time, moving strictly side to side instead of back and forth? I appreciate the input.

    • @mikesaint114
      @mikesaint114 2 года назад

      @@bjornegan6421 Yes, that's exactly how I'm doing it. It's the only way I could figure out to make it work, but it does work very well, I've made my Global's razor sharp again.

    • @Sarge2112
      @Sarge2112 Год назад

      I've had a big problem with the stones hitting the clamp especially at a shallow angle like under 20degrees I actually ground off a full 1/8 of an inch off the clamp fingers to help with this also some knives cannot be put fully into the clamp where the spine touches the v cut in my opinion the clamp is definitely the weakest link in this set up you can get other clamps from gritomatic but they cost like $50 but look promising one thing that is MUST is a brace for under the clamp to take the flex out of it I got one from gritomatic for $4 that works for better than the one showed in this video all that being said the sharpener works well for most blades especially pocketknives does not work well with very thin blades like a stilleto or filet type or a blade over 6 in in length it really depends on how wide or tall the blade is depending on how you look at it once I ground down the clamp it worked with the shallower angles just fine again depending on blade size bottom line it's a good sharpener for most knives especially for the price

    • @censusgary

      On some small knives, including the Victorinox Classic shown here, you can clamp the handle instead of the knife blade into the Worksharp holder. That eliminates the stone or diamond plate hitting the clamp.
