John Wayne Gacy was responsible for one of the most horrific crimes in Chicago's history. Gacy was a building contractor who also worked as a clown named "Pogo the Clown" at children's parties, but underneath his seemingly innocent exterior was a monstrous individual who preyed on young men and boys. He lured them to his home just outside of Chicago for sex and then strangled them to death, at one point, even stabbing one of his victims.
Between 1972 and 1978, Gacy killed 33 young men and boys. Their remains were found in a crawl space under Gacy's suburban Chicago house, buried elsewhere on his property, or in waterways south of Chicago. In December 1978, Gacy came to the attention of authorities after a 15-year-old boy went missing in Des Plaines. This led to the discovery of the first set of victim remains in the crawl space under Gacy's house.
In March 1980, Gacy was convicted of killing all 33 of his victims, making him one of the most prolific serial killers in U.S. history. He was sentenced to death and executed by lethal injection at the Stateville Correctional Center in Joliet on May 10, 1994.
But the case didn't end there. In 2011, the Cook County Sheriff's Department announced that it was undertaking a new effort to identify the remains of eight Gacy victims whose names still were not known. They hoped that advances in DNA testing could help identify the victims.
Over the next few years, the county was able to identify three of the eight victims in 2011, 2017, and even so recently as October 25, 2021. However, that still leaves the names of five victims unknown.

Robert stopped Gacy in a way. He broke the mold because he was totally out of the type of people Gacy was abducting. He messed up where people could identify him (and thank God Rob told his coworker and his mother where he was going), and everyone who knew Rob said he was a great kid, student, and came from a stable, loving home.

The guy would ask how it was done and Gacey would proceed to place them on the boy....the boy looked up and said an evil darkness had crept over his clown painted face... The boy says, I can't figure out how you did that trick! He whispers. You gotta have the keys.... " .so messed up. I think Gacy working with kids in hospitals was a moral transaction- like, “I make so many little children happy it far outweighs any criticism I might face for the occasional body in my crawl space.” I’m not saying it makes sense, but that seems to be the way he frames it.
Along with that, his charitable work and generosity to children was a cold blooded strategy to remove himself from suspicion in the community. Basically he was creating a moral alibi. Not that he had morals, he just knew how other people’s morals worked.

It's all relative to what's normal for YOU. These types of videos are entertaining, nothing more or less. If one were to take a more realistic approach, they may spend however much time is needed to see what's normal for someone like you or me. Then, what deviates from that "baseline"? And even then it's never 100% accurate in all aspects. I find it useful for me to understand why I feel a certain way. I FEEL so strongly that a certain social figure is lying? This kind of helps me go, "I did notice that, that's why I felt that way"
It's more a tool that's designed to work alongside other tools, but not one of an exact science rather one of "instinct" or pattern recognition.

I have been diagnosed with all types of social anxiety + severe social phobia and I think it's definitely way harder for ppl to read us. Bc we offer a lot of nervous tics that most might perceive as "tells" of deceit. I once dated someone who thought they could read a liar bc they saw a video one time that gave false information that a person will look in certain specific directions if they are being truthful or not.. couldn't figure out for years why I was always being accused of lying and etc. Till they finally told me what they were basing it off of 🤦‍♀️ so I'm pretty glad Observe makes these bc he makes them and tells you certain body language can also be signs of anxiety agitation discomfort or etc. It made me feel a lot better like a lot more justified bc I always wondered what I did "wrong" or what I was doing that made me seem so dishonest. Being more aware of my nervous tics (like what a regular person would specifically perceive as "off" has really helped me break the habit of using them -- unless I'm super stressed and not able to remember I'm working to control them and in doing so in a way it's sort of helped me manage my anxiety around others SORT of
I'm sorry to anyone who also suffers anxiety+ also especially social anxiety ❤ you just have to keep practicing. Think of it as a skill you need to constantly sharpen and nothing more and that sort of takes the stress / alienation out of it ❤

I have autism and whenever I watch interrogation or body analysis videos I get nervous about my own body language being misinterpreted. Of course, body language alone cannot determine if someone is guilty or not, but it definitely tells the detectives which approach to go for.
But then again, I remind myself that I’ll never end up in a situation where I’d be interrogated in such a manner LMAO

If you have a baseline on a person, I think that body language is still able to be used to look at clusters of unusual/ off baseline behaviours. So if your baseline is avoiding eye contact, tapping your leg, touching your face, fiddling, moving back and forth when talking about something benign, but then when answering other questions you have a cluster of off baseline behaviours, we would want to look at why those questions caused an issue

so, I'm not a clown, although I did consider it for a time, and the allure (for me) was: the idea of acting a fool, for the sake of other peoples enjoyment, and for me a clown is like the official uniform for such behavior. In reality in a very shy and reserved person, but with clowning, I could see myself sort of breaking free from those parts of my personality.
Side not: this isn't a weird quirk I have, I was always the kid who wanted to run away and join the circus, I practiced magic, acrobats, juggling, various "freak" or "geek" acts, fire eating, etc. So the idea of clowning was never to far from my usual interests.

I’ve been fascinated with Gacy for much of my life. I grew up in the Chicago burbs and remember his execution when I was young. He reminds me of someone who hurt me badly. Gacy, after all, began his crimes on his sister.

Gacy is fascinating so I am glad you are covering him. He had a very abusive childhood and his father absolutely impacted shame in his sexual identity. Does that mean what Gacy did was okay? Absolutely not but it is just a part of the story. I am also enjoying watching him talk. He seems very intelligent, and I did not know that.

He had help from one or two of his hired help. One went on to commit several serious crimes against other victims. John Gacy's crimes went deeper than what is known. He also tortured his victims and SA'd them for hours using all kinds of devices/items. He is a monster. But he is not the first guy to do this. There was Another man who lured young boys to his home to do similar things as Gacy did. Same handcuff trick and same tortures and abuses. He had killed more than Gacy and he also had help of his young "friends." His name was Dean Corll from Texas.

My dad was a clown as I was growing up. He was a part of the Merry Medics, and he did parades and hospital visits and all such things. My sister and I were even part of the act sometimes when we were really young. I never thought it was strange, and I still don't. I'm proud of what my dad used to do. He clowned until he was in his late 40s and he did a lot of good things with that group. They were all just fun dads or grandpas, not creepy guys hanging around kids. But, at the same time, they were men with kids of their own. Perhaps that is the defining line between creepy and caring?
That said, I am very uncomfortable with Gacy being a clown for obvious reasons.

In and of itself, him being a clown to entertain sick kids at the hospital isn’t a red flag. It’s that he’s also John Wayne Gacy the serial killer that makes it odd/off, and helped Americans as a whole to have a slight distrust/fear of clowns, not that it didn’t exist before, but he definitely amplified it

Doesn't take a body language analyst to see how much Gacy disturbs you, even just watching an interview lol. Don't get me wrong, he was one seriously deranged individual, but I didn't expect you to have such a huge reaction to this. You almost seem disgusted to have to say when he doesn't appear to be being deceptive. I'm almost more interested in your reaction to it than your analysis of it lol

I almost wonder if it isn't so much an inflated sense of ego but more about him feeling that he was lacking in some way and therefore needing to impress those around him and always trying to seem like the smartest guy in the room. That would also connect to his control issues, if he wasn't controlling the narrative then how could he be sure he sounded like the smartest person. I feel that may have also explained, somewhat, the comment about being himself as Pogo, because he wouldn't have needed to pretend as a clown. Just a thought. Love your work, thank you for the amazing content!
