I think that there are similarities in the way that they think about themselves (smarter than thou) manipulative, the obvious serial killer traits - lack of empathy, etc. I do however agree that listening to all of them speak is fascinating because you do get a further idea into their psyche which varies greatly and their own explanations/understanding of their crimes. That’s why hearing them talk always interested me.

Gacy’s defense of giving multiple keys to employees so anyone could have buried bodies around his house doesn’t make sense because Gacy also said his neighbors were also monitoring the house. If an employee was trying to hide a body at Gacy’s house, wouldn’t the neighbors have seen something suspicious going on and report it? He also made a blueprint of his house with layouts of where the bodies were. If other people were hiding bodies without his knowledge, how did he know where the bodies were buried years after the events?

    • @stevenbryant1011

I hate it when my husband plays the Devil's advocate, but, if he gave multiple keys out and could draw a layout of his property Plus the area of burials, it could just mean he knew a body was there because it was good house and he knew what the ground Should look like at all times, and that something was disturbed in certain places on the property. And if they saw those people, they would've seen him, or not seen want of them at all, I guess, in the process of burying people. 😂 I'm sorry, I've had a little whiskey, so if I'm out of line, I'll apologize tomorrow after you reply 😂 he's total trash, we all know it, but Jesus, I love to play a good game of "what-if" 😂

I think the reason he brought up the swing was because there's a huge study that links brain injuries at a young age to people becoming serial killers later in life.
A lot of the major serial killers experience some type of injury to their head in their childhood.
It's believed that the swing injury may have been the incident that changed his brain chemistry and made him want to kill people.

Yeah, even the plastic swings of my day could do a number on you, so I don’t think it’s unbelievable. But it’s tied to the idea that his brain was damaged, which, like the insanity defense, would require him to admit he had done something wrong. And he will not do that, which is why he pretends not to know the psych info and skates over the head injury.

In short, he was a pathological liar who ended up ending the lives of a family of three (among which a child of 8) in a gruesome fashion to protect his reputation and maintained his ludicrous story even after conviction.
Someone that is so comfortable with lying always intrigues me whether or not there are some non-verbal tells that could clue people in on their lies. (I am unaware if his interviews are available so this might not be easily done, but I thought I'd mention it :) )

Mannnnn! I feel like people who know just the bare minimum in body language analysis would think I’m always lying, simply because how much anxiety I have around people and do so many self soothing gestures durin conversations! Like when I walk through Walmart and it’s busy and I’m walkin alone I have trouble just keepin my head straight and up! Like just today I was in Walmart by myself and a guy was walkin right to me but past me and I just couldn’t look at him, like I glimpsed and moved my eyes straight down and to the side! That’s some of my worst problems I have around people, when I’m thinkin about it I try to keep eye contact durin conversations but most the time I just look at their lips. I have major anxiety but I’ve realized I do a lot of body language that looks like I’m bein deceitful! ( I also grew up watchin people talk in conversations because I was mostly deaf for 10 years from like 3-13 or something like that from both ear drums rupturing and even though they put titanium ear drums one ear the last week of 7th grade and the first week of 8th grade, (so I guess take how old I was around then and subtract 10 years and that’s when they first busted..) but ANYWAYS,, I try workin on my body language mainly tryin to be more confident and SHOW I’m more confident, I take medicine for my anxiety and ptsd, borderline personality disorder, depression, and panic attacks with agoraphobia! But it’s still SO HARD TO RETRAIN your body language to show more confidence, so I do ALOT OF SELF SOOTHING GESTURES, and it makes me look like something else is goin on I guess. I try learnin from your videos on not only watchin others, but also tryin to train and fix mine!

Oh yeah, those old wooden park swings could knock your teeth out or worse. My stepdaughter actually got a full concussion after being hit by a person swinging on a modern, plastic one (yes, she had to do the full concussion recovery week.... yes, she seemed to have fully recovered or at least not been brain damaged).

I think that the disgust and other emotions that Gacy was showing at the end were because of what the interviewer was saying. The interviewer wasn't swayed into saying that he thought Gacy was innocent. Gacy wanted to hear the interviewer say that the investigation was flawed and that Gacy was innocent. That's why he was demanding that the interviewer admit it at the end. Gacy was upset that everything that he had said wasn't changing the interviewer's mind. He was disgusted that the "smaller intellect" of the interviewer wasn't "capable" of understanding his innocence, wasn't "capable" of believing his words over the evidence that was against him. Gacy believed that the interviewer was just another brainless entity that he had wasted his time on.

He makes me so mad even now. There he was saying horrible things about the bodies and trying to gaslight the families to believe they don’t have the right bodies-he was still harming people and probably went back to his cell laughing about hurting them more. I hope none of them believed any of that BS. Grrr.

You can see he worked in politics. He does the "change the subject" and "shift blame" game flawlessly like a politician. You ask a question, they start to answer it then intelligently shift the subject and give you really interesting information, so you become focused on the new information and away from the fact that he never actually answered the initial question.

He has appeared in court a couple of times for preliminary hearings, but there's not a whole lot to go on in the way of body language; I think it will be a lot more enlightening once the trial is underway, or maybe completed. I am a little bit invested in the case because I live in that general area of the country

Yet another malignant narcissist. Why, I bet he could shoot someone in the middle of 5th Ave and nothing would happen. To compare himself to daVinci because he was a workaholic (it's pretty clear that daVinci was either on the spectrum or had a mental illness) and he painted (the Sistine for example) and John did wallpapering and murals(I wonder if a Gacy mural still exists) is pretty telling. Gacy has poor verbal language skills yet tries so hard to be the smartest guy in the room. He's the victim, the investigators were lazy, he knows all the answers the police couldn't figure out...sounds familiar, right? I'm surprised Gacy didn't use the words "witch hunt" and "rigged". Some malignant narcissists have psychopathic tendencies, some are full blown psychopaths, Gacy is the latter. They are all so similar though...they are smarter, they know what's best for you, they are always victims when their crimes are made public, they have no empathy, no sympathy unless it's for themselves. It's impossible for them to admit they've done anything wrong, truly impossible. We are seeing more and more of them, they've been allowed to climb out from under their rocks in the primordial ooze in which they once stayed. Now they are proud to be out in public. Be afraid...be very afraid.

What i dont understand is how so many boys went missing and the police did not investigate more thoroughly

When I have a seizure I lose consciousness. I wouldn’t know my strength, but there are different types of seizures. I have both grand and petit mal seizures. I guess he could be referring to his strength if people tried to hold him down because I’ve heard they used to do that. Don’t do that to someone having a seizure. Please! Just move everything out of the way that they could injure themselves on. Also put your hands near their mouth if you want to keep your fingers. I’m always surprised how many people ask me if they supposed to make sure I don’t swallow my tongue. I’m glad they ask though.

Interviewers (and talk show hosts lol)who don't ask follow-up questions are really frustrating 🤦 why did they not ask him for more details any of these times? Even when the questions are answered very indirectly they just continue on to the next subject like they're not paying attention or actually engaging in the conversation.
None of Gacy's answers add up, though. Especially how he "did lots of research" and that's how he's sure he doesn't recognize them? I never imagined having to extensively research someone to recognize them on a basic level
