Hey RB , there is a TSB for 2017-2020 CX5 it’s called ghost touching ; I’m actually a Mazda tech, we have to follow a procedure to get it covered for the customer, we update the CMU (connectivity master unit) to the latest version , and if it’s still ghost touching or rebooting we replace the screen using a repair kit, Mazda covers it on an extension but the customer has to take it in for concern
There is a way to also check for it , you press the power button down, and Simultaneously immediately after you have to hold down the star button and music button after pushing the power button down, you will see a numeric screen pop up, you can then use the commander switch to scroll to the option 3 on the interface which will pull up , “read active DTC” and when the screen is doing this you will see “B108E04 internal screen display failure”
My 2016 CX5 is also suffering from the same thing. Even worse, I cannot get into the menu. Touch screen doesn't work. The hard button doesn't work either. Any suggestion?
I had the same looping problem on my CX30 a week ago. I did the following sequences and it resolved my issue. Turn off the car. Unplug all USB accessories, including the Map SD card. Turn on the car. Got a warning about missing map data. I drove the car for a day without any issue. Was very happy. Then I put the map SD card back in. No problem with rebooting loop since. 🤞
@@pixiqpixiq It is located inside the middle arm rest compartment panel. It is next to the USB charging outlet. You will need to pull out the plastic tab first, which hide the map card. Push on the map card and it pop out.
Please report this issue to TRANSPORT CANADA if you are in Canada, it is a safety issue because the back up camera is part of the system and it blacks out mid use which could be potentially dangerous. After reporting this issue myself to transport canada they mentioned many are facing similar issues with their mazdas and to get anyone I know to report it so that it can be added to the recall list and be covered by MAZDA.
I think the reverse camera is not part of the infotainment system. I have put my CX5 2018 in reverse when the screen was rebooting and the camera showed on the screen as expected.
@@misterlove7034wow it actually works!! I’ve been having the same issue almost a year! I just removed the GPS SD card and problem solved. You are a lifesaver. Thanks man
Mazda put in a new unit for me three months later it started rebooting again been dealing with it for three years !!So today I started playing around with it and I popped the card out and I left the card out and it hasn’t rebooted since I have no idea what the card works I think it may be the GPS but I’m leaving it out so I can play the radio
Hey so I am not sure if this will work in your car but I am testing it in mine currently. Mine kept rebooting itself. I thought it was because of the cold/heat. But as I was driving this Saturday, I decided to remove the SD card for the nav and since I’ve done that I have not experienced one reboot. I am thinking maybe the card is bad and it is shorting the system. I am going to leave it out for another week or so and see what happens.
I have a 2019 mazda 3 and mine keeps rebooting. I’m not sure what to do to fix this. It was fine until this morning and now it won’t stop. It’s driving me crazy because I use my navigation for my job.
I had a similar issue in my 2016 CX-5, the screen kept resetting whenever I would drive around. I ultimately had to take it to the dealer so they could update the software to the latest version
@@dimitri246 we didn’t repair it customer don’t want new unit installed however some one sent me message they did software update that resolved their issue
Please clone your GPS card. System reboot (timeout) when it cannot load the map for the SD card for ~1 minute. I have the same issue with my 17 CX5. If the map can load (sometime) no reboot. Clone my card - map loads quickly - no reboot. Annoying isn't it!
I went down this path as when I found that removing the SD card fixed the issue. I treid cloning the card, but the Mazda wouldn't recognize the new cloned card. What software and SD card did you use to clone it?
There is a few reasons the ghost touch may not be it I think it could be the map chip there is a tsb for that as well also the maintenance light has a glitch if you used fixed oil in the past
@@RBTheMechanic It was a used car. It didn't come with a card. That was the first thing i checked lol Mazda said it's $300 to do a flash update and i just don't think that's fair considering the technician will most likely just push a couple buttons to fix it. So i guess i don't have an entertainment system anymore.
I stubbled onto that. I thought maybe the phone charging cord had a short or something metal (change) got into one of the chargers. I took out what I thought was a flash drive...now I know what it is :). Put it back in and everything is fine for now. Will remove it if the problem resurfaced. Thanks Toy.
Same mine doesn't show anything. Not even the mazda logo. I can't use the back up camero or navigation because of this. Mine is only 8,000 miles wtf Mazda sucks so bad. Do you find a way to fix this? Any ideas please.

REMOVE THE GPS SD CARD!!! It will solve the problem and you will save repair costs. Easiest fix if you don’t have warranty.
How do you remove it?
@@benjamindubin9626 the GPS SD card sits inside the center console. Open the center console and pop out the SD card. It’s not hidden, you can see it.
