  • Part 1 of 2 starts at Kings Cross showing deltics at work in the 1970s before moving away from the capital at locations further along their stomping ground, the East Coast main line.

    Magnificent machine and engineering built circa 2 miles from where I live also used to work at the same Vulcan works it was very very noisy 😃

    Brilliant video mate would have been spectacular if it had sound. But watching this took me back to my early train spotting days watching and riding on any Deltic we could out of Newcastle north or south on student rail cards👍

    I remember them at Kings X in the..‘Travellers Fare’..era with the soaking wet cheese sandwiches etc, the noses of these engines were plastered in fly squash and dust while sitting back from the buffers on arrival from the north

    Cannot see a Deltic without being able to hear it's wonderful roar surely.. Still interesting though..
