The car is cool and all, but can we just appreciate how scenic these streets are. Japan is so unique in its vibe. Would love to drive there myself one day.
Yeah and Star Road especially, it's literally right in the middle of a densely built up housing estate. So wild. That's also why we couldn't rev the engines in front of the workshop.
These are quickly becoming my favorite automotive videos to watch on RUclips! They're so beautifully shot and edited. Also the fact that Dino actually knows what he is talking about is a breathe of fresh air when it comes to "Vlog" style videos as well. I do have one question; What camera, lens and gimbal do you use to shoot the more cinematic shots? Keep up the awesome work! Can't wait to see the next video
Dino, I loved this video on the guys at STAR ROAD. I like new cars but resto mods are my absolute favourite. Once again great content and production. I look forward to another one of these local tuner hero stories. Keep living the dream.
Love love star road! They make the best configuration of Z engines compared to any tuning company out there. The way they rev is insane. Wish my 280z with triple webers would rev like theirs.
Really interesting to see the new and old style suspension and subframe stuff there, these cars are gorgeous. Awesome video as always. I'm enjoying this new content push on YT; hope it keeps growing for you.
Thank you Mark. I enjoy doing these vids so much and am over the moon at the reception they are getting! Make sure you check back every Wed & Thu 16:30 JST for new episodes
I always see the L series but what about the Z31 series in Japan where are they doing these types of Z ? That connection I need enjoyed your video bro.
I love these shops, as you say, very Japanese style, and I'm a really big fan of this style cars, as much as I love the kaido racers this is the way I would go if I'll ever have a chance to own a jdm classic, as unfortunately in my country these are as rare as it can possibly get. Anyway, that red Z truly is something, 110% worth the money, as it's pretty obvious that it took a serious amount of man hours to reach that level of perfection, and what really is impressive is that it still is an old car, it still has the original L series and every other bit that, let's say, keep its old car soul alive and well. I wouldn't like it as much if it had a modern engine, those cars have their place, but if you can afford it this really is a special thing.
yes star road content! that orange Z on the lift got me very into fairladys when I saw the spotlight on SH years ago, very cool to see that they're developing it and racing it.
Yeah they certainly never rest on their laurels, they keep moving forward and this vintage JDM car world is insane right now, more money than ever before which ultimately is what helps push R&D
Thank you for going to Star Road so soon after my suggestion! We were at the shop in 2016 and got taken for a spin as well. These cars sound amazing! And well done on the camera work and presentation!
its interesting that they use the later s30 interior, its my preference as well, just a bit more refined... The durability of the l-series block can be attributed to the higher nickle content within the casting, the bore are (usually) in good condition as well.
Love the videos Dino!!! I really like your walk around videos having a look at the ins and outs of certain places like the Benz shop last vid. *Also that was a KPGC110 Kenmeri *C10 is Hako. :P Keep it up bro!
Cool to see shops in their home country. That one you where driving is called a 260 or 280Z in the US do not know exactly the date of that Z, but it has the later dash. In Japan there was no thing as 240Z they where all called Fairlady Z S30 up until 78 I believe. 79 saw the S130
oh man I can't believe I just discovered Dinos' channel. Sublime content, thanks. I built my brothers Lseries on his 260z, I was a JRM Group engine development engineer in uk, these engines are very nice, they go FAST. I would love to work in Japan some day, but fear not being welcome
Absolutely brilliant film. Really got the vibe that you were discovering a properly unknown and secret back street tuner shop, that no-one else knows about, sort of like how it was when I first started getting into the JDM scene back in the late 90's, before the internet and RUclips made it so much more visible and accessible. No doubt the enthusiasm is very real for these cars and it obviously really shows. On the acceleration runs, the sound sort of reminded me of the LFA, with that sort of maniac scream towards the redline. It would be good to maybe talk or interview the owner and hear a bit about his cars, I appreciate not everyone is comfortable talking on camera but it could be a nice extra for any future videos. Top class so far, keep it up.
Love these videos about all kind of shops be it 2 cars garage or big brand ones. But video like this one are true poetry. Your videos are the exact same beasts as your writings : I can really feel the atmosphere thru the media ! 😊
I just discovered your channel , I appreciate all that you do for this world of gear heads we live in. From Africa with love ❤ and the background instrumentals are fiiiirrreee... God bless you fam.
Headphone user here: voice comes and goes, depending on where the camera is pointed. A mic would go a long way, if you find that doable. Music is kiiiiinda loud on transitions, compared to your voice, so I found myself turning the volume up and down. Just a little bit of feedback! Keep it up, glad you're back!
Im sick of getting compliments everytime I am at stop light, gas station etc . Last night at a 7 11 I spent 20minutes answering questions and these sobs couldnt stop complimenting my Z WHICH I BUILT its a 260Z. Last night 6 times I was complimented at stop lights alone. I actually ❤ all appreciatons and compliments! Its crazy cool!!! It never gets old and the stories are aweaome. Example - My wife and I drove of in my 240 after just gettkng married.
That’s just Japan in general. They’ve cornered themselves into tight spaces by starting out too small with everything. I’m still trying to figure out why half of the population needs to live in Tokyo 😂
I come via way of Larry Chen videos. When he is in Japan he always finds you. Next year I will go to Japan...even though I would hate leaving my Two Z Restomods for the week, I plan on spending. I want to do a JDM tour of all these cool shops and the night car meet ,that is so famous..
The silver skyline at the back is a C110 Kenmeri, you can tell the difference from the C10 since it's got a sloped fastback look to it rather than the sedan look of the C10
Thanks a lot, happy to hear that! Uhm I’m sure there is, can’t think of any right now. Saw a yellow one at the RAYS event the other day, really looked like a mango 😆
Great content Dino, love these little hidden corners of Japan… on another note check your audio levels, goes from your low voice to loud music and back…
Thanks Fernando, will do! We're going to move to a proper mic set up shortly so we will iron the issues out. It's also the way the iPhone records audio, it's pretty weird
Hey Dino is this the same shop that was featured in the Discovery Channel Documentary with Rocky Auto,RWB, that Fairlady Shop and another (I can’t recall the cars they would restore)? Also I’m so glad the camera isn’t shaky at all. Makes it so much better to watch on 📺.
Hey! No we didn't film at Star Road for Retro Car Kings. Here is the original announcement I made on Speedhunters about it: www.speedhunters.com/2012/12/the-retro-car-kings/ Unfortunately it's no longer on RUclips as Discovery pulled the copyright card to the guy that was hosing it. Boohoo!
Hope Inoue-san shows you his own self model figurine along w/ his orange car in it made by "Ignition model". It's very funny though exactly looks like him 😅
As the population dwindles in Japan (by Japanese standards), it's really starting to look like the land time forgot imo. I see it all around the countryside and suburbs in Kyoto.
Yeah it's actually something that you'd never know about if you didn't travel outside of massive cities. Every time I drive through the countryside it's almost depressing seeing little villages becoming ghost towns with only a few old farmers living their last few years. The future will be very tough for Japan...and many other countries out there too
True. I owned an original until 1992. Sold it. Big mistake! I managed to find a rust free 240 a few years ago and scooped it up. Now it’s my “forever car”! Never going to sell! 👍🏼

I never knew a 240 could sound like that or even rev like that that’s crazy whole new appreciation for that motor and the shop
Yeah those L-series respond so well to tuning!
great video. love from osaka 🗾👩🔧❤🔥
Awesome Video! Definitely love seeing these features of smaller bustling shops.
