The show Andor IS a prequel too
It's about his journey into becoming a rebel himself
The first season is 5 years before this movie and thus, Episode IV since this is only a few days before that movie happens
The second will trace its way all the way up to the moment before Cassian meets his contact on that trading post station, you know, the person Cassian shoots dead to keep him quiet?

Just so You know, that Tarkin fellow who blew up the citadel tower on Scarif was the same man who blew up Alderaan in A New Hope and Who perished in the battle station's destruction.
His full name is Wilhuff Tarkin, He started out as a Captain in the Republic Navy and gained the title of Fleet Admiral before being appointed an Adjutant General as well .
In the early days of the Empire Tarkin became a Moff, baisicly a Sector Governor, of the Greater Seswenna Sector.
Five years into Imperial rule, the title of Gran Moff was created specifically for Him to fufill it.

@43:22 - that was Blue Leader - Red and Gold squads are in space trying to destroy the gate, and defend the fleet. (Most) of Blue Squadron got thru before the gate was closed.
The clips of Red and Gold leader used in this movie are repurposed from the original 1977 Star Wars. They are the same actors, with some effects/voice work to change what is said when needed. Interestingly enough when Star Wars was written it was Red and Blue Squadrons attacking the Death Star, but they realized they couldn't use blue as a color on the ships, due to the Blue screen affects used at the time to film the scene with models. So it was changed to Gold(if you read the original novel adaption of the movie, it is still red and blue, and Luke is actually Blue 5 not Red 5)
the creation and use of Blue Squadron here was intentional, as a homage/reference to that change.
Admiral Radus is a different Admrial than the one from Return of the Jedi, that's Admiral Ackbar (Its a trap!)

Regarding Your Stormtrooper confusion: The plain white ones are just the basic trooper voriety with the rank of private. The black ones are a party of the Empire's Special Forces Division, and are under the perview of Imperial Intelligence. They are called "Death Troopers", part of a special division, and are élite commandos used for Top Secret missions. They can also be assigned as a security detail for high-ranking Imperials.
Orson Calen Krennic is the Director of the Imperial Military's Departnent for Advanced Weapons Research Division, and has access to the clearance for these ecceptional soldiers.
Finally, the "Costal Defender Troopers", also known as "Shore Troopers", are a rare sub-class of Stormtroopers deployed in costal or tropical enviorments trained specificly for these enviorment. A pre-requisite for being a costal defender trooper is that One must have acheived at least the rank of Sargeant: this is so the men can take charge of regular stormtroopers due to the position being so rare that sufficient numbers cannot be acquired.
I hope I was clear enough.

There are still a few Jedi’s across this time period, but they are in hiding because they are being hunted by the Empire. Chirrut is force sensitive but isn’t a Jedi. I don’t think the Jedi found him in time when there was still a Republic for him to train as a Jedi. Remember Anakin at 9 years old was too old for them to consider training him.

just a fair warning: the Clone Wars is pretty much a show for folks who 1000% love everything about star wars, not just the movies
You may need to rewatch 1-3 a couple of times to really get into it
It IS a big commitment for someone like you that has trouble with remembering names, events, etc. and it's a little slow going in the first season
Plus, the chronology is mixed up but there is a fan-made "correct order" list online for you to use
The show adds a LOT to the saga and it may be too much for you right now
But once you're ready to dive in, it may be better to just watch the episodes and upload to Patreon if you're still not that invested
FYI, there are 7 seasons not 8
The same goes for star wars rebels, the show that takes place during the years of the Empire, before Episode lV; as a reference point, luke and leia are like 15 to 16 years old when it starts
Good news is, that's an easier watch; it's only 4 seasons long

  • @KarlKraus1
    @KarlKraus1 Месяц назад

That wasn't really Leia's actress, Carrie Fisher
Leia was looking like that thanks to motion capture CGI
Same for the man who took over the Death Star; that actor died back in 1994
Disney wanted to test the technology that restored the original likeness of an actor's face on someone else
    People were mixed about it
Nowadays, it looks a bit weird but i let it slide

Fun Fact: Alan Tudyk plays the droid K-2SO through motion capture technology. Tudyk previously played the robot character Sonny in I, Robot (2004).
Red Gold Leaders Fact: Gareth Edwards and his creative team discovered some old film canisters while rummaging around the Lucasfilm warehouses. When he asked what they were, an employee said they were old Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) footage. The discovery led to the inclusion of unused material featuring Red Leader (Drewe Henley) and Gold Leader (Angus MacInnes) in this movie.
Attention To Detail Fact: Darth Vader's appearance in this film is meticulously patterned after his look in the original Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977). While Vader's chest plate is uncovered in Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) and Star Wars: Episode VI - Return Of The Jedi (1983), his costume initially had his Sith robes draped over his shield, as well as red lenses in the eye holes of the mask. Considering this film takes place mere days before the original film, the costume designers recreated Vader's look down to the last detail. This movie was made with love by actual Star Wars fans.

Excellent reaction!! OK I need to warn you about something!! Please watch all 11 StarWars Movies. At some point you might encounter some people that’ll pressure you to not watch the sequels (Episodes7,8&9) Don’t let them stop you from watching them. There’s a lot of manufactured outrage against these movies. Although there are several reason for the hate, some of it is because these movies have more diversity than all the previous movies put together. They feature women and people of color in prominent positions and some people have a problem with that. They’ll never admit it but if you read between the lines it’s obvious.

@@kecravaI suppose I'd say the most vocal critics have been the people complaining about the diversity in one way or another. There's much more of them but they're less vocal.

    • @IggyStardust1967

I always tell people to watch them, and make up their own minds if they like them or not.
For myself, my main problem with the Sequel Trilogy has nothing to do with the manufactured hate over diversity, it's the fact that there was no "general storyline written from the start", as there was with the previous trilogies. George Lucas had an "outline" written for a 9 episode series from the start.... and while MANY parts were changed as he went along (up to, and including putting the 'finale' of destroying the Death Star into the ONE movie he was able to make (Star Wars)) because he believed Star Wars might well be a "one and done" rather than a series. He at least did have a general outline of the story he wanted to tell. The Sequel Trilogy was "let's just make this up as we go along", despite it being within a long-established franchise. THAT was my problem with those movies. Episode VIII (and not getting into "spoiler" territory) subverted everything set up in Episode VII. Which Episode IX had to go back and ret-con/fix.
Also, I don't HATE the Sequel Trilogy... but I was caught "off guard" with The Last Jedi in theaters... I have since come to appreciate it... because The Rise of Skywalker did a hard "Course Correction" to explain a lot of it.
The Mandalorian, Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, The Book of Boba Fett, and even Ahsoka all learned that lesson from the ST.... so, if any good came out of that.... it's that Lucasfilm DID learn that they can't just "wing it" and make something fans will appreciate. There has to be an "end goal", and a "story arc" somewhat planned out (not micro-managed, but from story point to story point) at the start. Otherwise, it ends up being a complete shit show.

    • @kecrava
      @kecrava Месяц назад +1

@@IshtarNike If i recall, there was a lot of hate over the diversity issues leading up to the force awakens and immediately after, and likewise after the last Jedi came out as people didn't like the rose/finn thing.
