Way to go Phil! I recall that it took me 1.5 hrs longer than you to do that climb! But I didn't cut the ends of my handlebars off and left both brakes on so who knows how fast I could have gone! ;-)
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know a tool to log back into an Instagram account? I was dumb forgot my account password. I would appreciate any help you can offer me!
@Royal Onyx i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
PLEASE LET ME EDIT ONE OF YOUR KOMS BRO! Lets get some sick overlays on this sucker! KILLER JOB on the vloging leading up to the attempt, solid content bro!
Phil, your candor and brutal honesty is inspiring. I ride as hard and often as I can, but still consider myself a swimmer, because my first love was swimming, knowing I could beat anybody, because nobody on earth would be willing to go as deep as I was willing to go. Turns out I couldn't beat them, and it took a lot of years to come to terms with that. What you're doing is awesome, entertaining as hell, and for what it's worth, meaningful to people like me.
Phil, this episode was SO MUCH better than the previous ones. I think the less-polished style is so much more engaging. It was more personal and less about the achievement and more about the journey you made in search of it. It also captures your personality a bit better, overall, since it seems you were the one who edited it. Favorite one so far. Stick with this style, IMO.
This vid is so much more engaging than the previous episodes because it's much more personal. Very well done. Congrats on the KOM And based on Dumoulin's fiasco today: pooping before riding is such a good decision! :-)
My golden rule when doing any sport but especially cycling is to always take a pre-game dump. About 45 mins before a race I would force myself out there because there is nothing worse than suddenly needing to get rid of something during a race :D
Great work Phil!! Also, good idea talking with Danielson and having him give you some insights..glad to hear him be willing to give you advice! Good dude to help you with the strategy. Well done Brother!
The piano music that plays with the final credits and list of sponsors is really sad--it's the kind of music they play in documentaries about tornadoes, when they show what's left of a town that was flattened.
That was great, congratulations. There is not enough of your type of rich character in the pro peloton, or at least we don't see it which is too bad. Keep inspiring us! Thank you!
I'm a lumpy, slow, British bloke, and if I had a hat on, I'd tip it in your direction. Top work mate - that looked like hard work. Apart from the cookie bit.
I started cycling 3 years ago and could not get my FTP past 260 watts. I would never do drugs to enhance performance but I decided to buy a bike with a hidden motor that gives you an extra 100 watts (vivax assist) because I hate getting past on the roads. I probably would have started using it in races as well. After listening to your audio book "Pro Cycling on $10 a Day" I changed my mind and heart. I cancelled my vivax assist order and resolved to work harder on the bike. I achieved something I never thought possible. My FTP is now 310 and I feel like there is still a lot more room for improvement. I will always be a Phil Gaimon fan!
"SPASTIC" Someone who walks with their head angled 30-45 degrees to the side, one of their arms in a crooked position, their feet turned inwards (like Kevin Spacey in The Usual Suspects), walking down a street, with the occasional noise (like that dude in Cube) "Errrrrahhhhhhhh". Yep. That about sums me up AA BB.
Thanks for clearing up why I tend to feel like a dufus on that hill...I'm massively outclassed! I think I have some new ideas though now. See some of you in December:)
Phil, it was AWESOME to see you at BWR...and under the radar and just out to compete. (I knew it was you at the start line!) I'd love to hear how your day in the saddle went. Any blog or posts where I could read? I love your narration.
Congrats on a nother great KOM & video Phil! You´re such an fun inspiration to the sport. Take some well earned rest days, yet please upload (at least something, doesn´t have to be a KOM) when you´re rested, because your way of looking at the sport is so good for the sport. Of how we look at our self & the sport. Of course it´s about competing (against your self?) and sometimes (though for most verry seldom) winning, it´s also about having fun! & not being so boring serious. Anyways, it´s what keeps me going. That balance.
Next mission: Strava a pedal boat across Echo Park lake. Edit: kidding aside, I love your project of taking away the little bragging rights of dopers and pricks.
Stopped by cookie cabin after finishing mount lemon for the worst pizza ever ! And a rock hard brownie cookie . The lodge much better place to go . Great climb
What's really embarrassing, and not just for you, for all of us, is that a triathlete now holds this KOM. Sorry Phil. You'll have to go back and do MUCH better next time... ;-)
Find your heart rate during training efforts to find out how much heart you can hold up a mountain when you are fit. Put the HR right there during an event or a strava segment. I think Phil could go faster on a "big day" if he used watts or HR like this.
Hey Phil, can you go out and smash a route ridden by Keith DeFiebre? He has 3,837 KOMs and dozens of overlapping KOMs on some climbs. He needs to have a few taken back off him if any of us segment baggers are to catch him. Levi Leipheimer only has 2000. Can you take the most segments in one day?
Strava live segments are good BUT the way the data seems to present over distance as a whole as opposed to where you are at that moment compared to the KOM presents a problem in a sense that you could be lighting it up at the beginning of the segment and killing it so you chill and then when you hit the inclines you are all of a sudden dropping back at a great rate and then in the red.
Way to go Phil! I recall that it took me 1.5 hrs longer than you to do that climb! But I didn't cut the ends of my handlebars off and left both brakes on so who knows how fast I could have gone! ;-)
I'm sure you would get it :)
I guess Im asking the wrong place but does any of you know a tool to log back into an Instagram account?

@Santana Kameron instablaster =)
@Royal Onyx i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now.

@Royal Onyx it did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thank you so much, you saved my ass!
PLEASE LET ME EDIT ONE OF YOUR KOMS BRO! Lets get some sick overlays on this sucker! KILLER JOB on the vloging leading up to the attempt, solid content bro!
and your Lookout Mountain edit is awesome !!! Luv it !!
Phil, your candor and brutal honesty is inspiring. These are getting better. You should FaceTime with Danielson for every episode. That was very cool. Thank you for these.
This vid is so much more engaging than the previous episodes because it's much more personal. Very well done. Congrats on the KOM
And based on Dumoulin's fiasco today: pooping before riding is such a good decision! :-)
Domoulin found out today that you go when it's time, not when you're ready 😂😂😂
My golden rule when doing any sport but especially cycling is to always take a pre-game dump. About 45 mins before a race I would force myself out there because there is nothing worse than suddenly needing to get rid of something during a race :D
No DUMP no PLAY. Ive pulled out of rides before for not dumping prior.
lol, poor guy. he's still going to win the giro though. Big Tom's riding like a beast.
I hope he wins, but I'd be lying if I say I'm not also a little suspicious.
Best channel I've found in a long time. The category should be comedic documentary.
Great work Phil!! Also, good idea talking with Danielson and having him give you some insights..glad to hear him be willing to give you advice! Good dude to help you with the strategy. Well done Brother!

Congratulations on the KOM! Really enjoy your videos - and they're getting better every time.
Please, please do Palomar pt. 2!
I love how authentic and down to earth this is
Talking about "Squeezing it out" after the poop joke was great.
This series is one of the best things ever. Love it.
That was great, congratulations. There is not enough of your type of rich character in the pro peloton, or at least we don't see it which is too bad. Keep inspiring us! Thank you!
Phil should make all the RUclips videos! This series is great.
Can’t believe I’ve only found your channel now...love it
Great job! Can't wait to see you at Mt. Washington!
damn your videos are so hilarious, genuine, free of care yet geeky enough to stay interested. So worth the wait for each new upload.
I'm a lumpy, slow, British bloke, and if I had a hat on, I'd tip it in your direction. Top work mate - that looked like hard work. Apart from the cookie bit.
You going by people like they were sitting still! Love the narration/ phone conversation as you are doing it.👍🏼Cool
and now a triathete has taken this ! Lionel
Absolutely loving this channel Phil
Your thoughts and that face at the end of the effort is the same face I had at the end of every triathlon I ever did!

80z Cyclist you are a spastic
"SPASTIC"

Yep. That about sums me up AA BB.
At 11:00 this is a climbing clinic. One of the best things about this channel is the introspective into the sport in subtle ways.
"cactus fire or sand fire" LOL!
Dude this is still your best hour VAM, best I have seen.
Nah my baldy one is better. It’s more about steepness
Can't wait to see which climb you pick here in Utah!
Great meeting you sat at the Amgen tour.
Huge congrats on this one, and a great video - despite being in survivor mode.
Thanks for clearing up why I tend to feel like a dufus on that hill...I'm massively outclassed! I think I have some new ideas though now. See some of you in December:)
Love your channel! I am going to head to LA in two weeks and climb Mt. Baldy!
Hey how about Brasstown Bald in Georgia? I'd leave it for the fall but it would be a good one to try!
Best episode thus far, lots of cool content in there
Survivor style works with so many viewers Phil. Maybe do it more often dude. Great video and congrats on the victory.
Radness. Bust out more dude. Also holler when in Seattle for this. Our shop is sick and solid team to show you round.
I love her shirt! I used to work a Bicycle Ranch.
He is a lot like John Mayer!
GO PHIL!
Come do Mt. Evans hill climb here in Colorado. You can stay at our cabin in Dillon. And while you're out here you can do Lookout Mtn.
Phil, it was AWESOME to see you at BWR...and under the radar and just out to compete. (I knew it was you at the start line!) I'd love to hear how your day in the saddle went. Any blog or posts where I could read? I love your narration.
Phil should thank Tom for the advice. Nice work. Fun to watch, thanks!
Awesome video, and Congratulations!
Great video, I enjoyed the personal insights.
Congrats Phil!! That cookie looked awesome too.
Awesome video and effort!
Of course sunglasses go outside the straps, but now I know how to take off my helmet without catapulting my sunglasses across the room. Thanks Phil!
Awesome job! Love the channel!
Go back for Palomar! I'd love to see you get it and I think you would feel better about it too if you did.
Bogdan Rylski bodgan ryli
You should redo Palomar 'cause everyone knows it goes to 11
Hey Phil, I work at the factory that makes that fancy window squeege to clean those bugs. Nice choice.
Enjoyed the video mate. Keep them coming. Good camera work minus the help. 👌
Really great content Phil! Keep it coming!!
Everything you said in the beginning of this video is exactly why we need more high speed trains.
This should be a weekly series LOL
love your honesty mate
Would be nice to see your heart rate data in Strava also. Great series!
You remind me of Bill Hader - you’re hilarious. Definitely a sand fire up there on Mt. Lemmon 😂
Love your videos dude! You should come to Reno NV and try to KOM our local climb, geiger grade. The current KOM is Laurens Ten Dam.
Great work Phil 👍
"Cactus fire or a sand fire" LOL!! Thanks for posting, Phil!
Congrats on a nother great KOM & video Phil! You´re such an fun inspiration to the sport.

Best video yet, love the segment on the house for cycliste and comments from Tom 👍🏻
Best "Worst Cycling Vids" ever ;-) Love 'em! :-)
Love your videos! Sooooo awesome!
Congrats! I needed a win here more then you did apparently...
guy retires but has a mechanic van follow him around. how awesome
So will you be racing Mount Washington this year?
That cookie must have been glorious!
"Wondering what I was doing with my life and my weekend"
You destroyed this climb! Nice going, Phil.
WTG! For a minute, I thought you would have to get a colonic to get your ride going..........
Great stuff. You should come to Boise and ride to Bogus Basin with Kristen Armstrong.
Understated awesome.
thanks for abusing yourself for entertainment
Please let Domoulin win the Giro! We needed a guy like Tom to show up and get results.
Nice one Phil!!! I just my first KOM and it does feel good!!!!
What's really embarrassing, and not just for you, for all of us, is that a triathlete now holds this KOM. Sorry Phil. You'll have to go back and do MUCH better next time... ;-)
Thoughts on recruiting a lead out chain for some of the flatter climbs?
Find your heart rate during training efforts to find out how much heart you can hold up a mountain when you are fit. Put the HR right there during an event or a strava segment. I think Phil could go faster on a "big day" if he used watts or HR like this.
I hope you put that drive time on Strava bahaha
Beast, congratulations Phil 👍!!
Wow impressive effort, but why is this effort not visible on Strava?
Will you make more videos please?
Will have 10 episodes this year, and as many little ones as I can in between. So yes.
Phil did you ever recover any footage from Old LaHonda?
Oakland PD has five detectives working around the clock on this case
I can't wait for the next one, after the final one why don't you sequence them all together, with an into and outro final thoughts.
I love the little gopro ones.
Phil and bugs, best friends forever.
Dude- Great job! Now... Mauna Kea or Haleakala! At least you'll be in Hawaii...
Wow..nice to see what kathryn bertine is up to with Homestretch ... cheers
great stuff!
How much does he weight atm ? he looks super fit in this vid
Can you take the most segments in one day?
videos still not long enough! #needmore
congrats man. you did it finally :)
Awesome! good job.
Wait, is the ending music purposely, "sad walking away" music ala The Incredible Hulk? :)
You should do the entire climb on some clip ons
are you ever going to try and get some of the big ones in europe?
Strava live segments are good BUT the way the data seems to present over distance as a whole as opposed to where you are at that moment compared to the KOM presents a problem in a sense that you could be lighting it up at the beginning of the segment and killing it so you chill and then when you hit the inclines you are all of a sudden dropping back at a great rate and then in the red.
