- Hey all!! I hope you enjoyed going through this process with me. I was for certain that I completely messed up my hair. In the end it turned out okay. What are your thoughts on my look? What Wella toner would you all recommend???

I want to reiterate that my hair when I did this was Virgin hair. No processing, dye or anything had been done to it. Please keep this in mind if you've already dyed your hair/permed it. If you leave it on too long it can make your hair fall out/break off.

Pro tip : to avoid using a toner and have a more even coverage/longer lasting toned color - use a blue/purple black box dye. Get the color tube and mix 1/2-1 teaspoon of the dye (from the tube don't mix with the developer), mix it with shampoo or conditioner in a 2:1 ratio and leave on your head for 5 minutes MAX. If you pull a yellow/orange only leave it on for 3 minutes and wash it off. Also if you pull red/orange use 1-2 teaspoons of the box dye colour to tone. THANK ME LATER :P
I pulled two about a level eight I have redken shades EQ black how much do I mix I have some level 10 some level 8 9 please help will be doing a root Shadow afterwards
@@wendy8561 hey! Just make sure it’s a blue black, not just regular. You want to mix about 3 table spoons

just an fyi the chunky blonde, and brown sections happened because you're actually supposed to brush your hair back before putting the cap on, just so you know if you do it again!
Person I’ll keep that in mind when I reapply the highlights. I’m probably going to skip the cap next time and just use the gloves to selectively place the bleach. Thanks for the suggestion ❤️

What toner did you end up getting? Can you link it? I just did this same kit in the same color and I have some orange and yellow in certain areas but I’m a hair dye virgin here and have no idea what kind of toner to get.

You can do it! Make sure you have two boxes just incase you run out of product :) But there is a lot in the container :)

Looks beautiful. I just did mine. Not sure if the toner will make it look less blonde. So I'm going to wait until tomorrow when my hair is dry. This is truly the best kit I have ever used. I'll never use anything else. It comes with SO MUCH.

I just did this and want to add if you have long, thick hair like me ( which is what this highlight kit is for) for the love of god. After using their shampoo . CONDITION your hair. I didnt Because it didn't say i could and took me 35 minutes to comb thru hair and it pulled at least an 1/8 of my hair out. Bad experience. My hair feels like hay. They need to consider ppl like me in their instructions . Think, long , course hair. Now im half bald. 😛 other than that. I THINK it turned out ok. Still wet.

I usually get my hair done, by same girl for 15 years - low lights & blonde highlights - but I moved & I’m too afraid to try a new hairdresser! So it’s grown out to my natural color. I’m going for it! Just like you did! Thank you for doing this video.. it was very helpful especially since your hair color is so similar to mine! I’d be curious to know if you got a toner? If so, what kind? And how did it turn out? Thanks again! 🤗
Just make sure to brush your hair straight back before putting on the cap (I didn't and it made really blocky sections of highlights underneath) and to leave it on long enough. I think I left the bleach on for like 45-50 minutes because my hair is so dark. As for the toner, I would recommend not toning it unless you think it's brassy. I started using a blue/purple shampoo and it takes out the brassiness fine. Clairol Shimmer Lights is sold at Sally's and it works fantastically to remove any brassy sections. Hope this helps! Also I did a video on the Dupe version of the Clairol Shimmer Lights- the generic version (it's also sold at Sally's) and from what I can tell works just as well for a fraction of the price. @@latoyann yes I almost did today. I’m just reading up what to do to my grey hair. I just started to get grey hair recently but it’s only in one spot right in the middle of the front of my head. It’s like a skunk 🤦🏽♀️ I think the grey May turn red with this kit, so I’m going to see what info I can find about that .
Looks wonderful. I have a pixie so should be easy to do the cap! I love it on you it really suits your skin tone. I used to have about level 7 but my hair got darker I must be about level 5 now I think.

I just had gotten this same kit, But...
I had dyed my hair about a yr ago a Black Cherry color. My hair is elbow length and my roots are all grown out just past my ears.
My natural hair color is dark brown.
I'm hoping my hair don't look crazy as hell after I do this because I have my child's field trip.
I don't want my poor baby embarrassed more than I'd be!😅

I think it looks good, but when you put your hair up, that extra think blond will show. My tip is takeout less hair, and tuck the rest of your hair under the cap. Also use a hair color paint brush and brush each peace of hair with bleach. Overall it looks great. I just bought this for my hair and I’m so afraid to try it. But I wanna safe a good $300.00 so I’ll be doing it tomorrow.

The whole reason I wanted to watch the video was to see which is the developing cream. But she's not showing anything ias she's mixing it. And I'm assuming I use both packs of the lightning powder? Hopefully I don't need it all because one of them was already halfway open and when I shook it per directions, it flew all over the room. May I say is pretty bad so I can't read the print on the containers.

The cap came in the highlighting kit. Sally Beauty Supply does sell the cap on it's own though.

What toner did u use??
I ended up using L'Oreal's Blue/Purple shampoo and conditioner from Walmart. I let it soak on my hair dry for about 5 mins (the shampoo) and then used the conditioner. It makes your hair nice and icy.

I guess you could in theory, but be careful, I think the bleach in this is like 40 volume. If your hair has been previously dyed then it may fall out.
