I'm just going to say it... I have often thought Corey and Kalei are the most important ukulele team in the world today. I have been surrounded at work by Ukuleles for 14 years and it takes a lot to really inspire me. Without fail, when these two guys play together they make me realise or remember just how fantastic the ukulele is. They are fantastic musicians individually but together they drive the entire genre of ukulele playing forward. Thank you for continuing to pioneer emotive, lyrical ukulele playing that doesn't need to be flash or gimmicky to inspire.
You guys had some great music flowing out of these wonderful instruments! Likely VERY inspiring to play, and definitely inspirational to hear! As always, thank you!
The customs are soo gorgeous. The purfling is just 😍 and Hawai'i '78.... always has me in tears, especially when Kalei and Corey play. Thanks as always ❤
Genuinely don’t know what to say. Another term may be needed to describe Koa that looks way above Master grade. Then expertly played by you guys, showing the full spectrum. Awesome. Great builds speak when played. Thanks for the showcase, Uke envy in overdrive.👌😎
Cyprus, Myrtle, and New Zealand Kauri (and fossil or Ancient Kauri)are my favorite tone woods- followed by Cedar, Koa, and Mahogany. Amazing instruments, and again -completely amazing playing!!! You both rule, and have greatly affected my musical spectrum!! Mahalo!
I don't know if I ever heard ukuleles sound so charming, so dreamy, so warm and crisp at the same time. Is it the build? Is it the players? - anyway, I really freak out every time you play your funky style (-> 32:55ff) if you would have the time and patience to post a little lesson on the member's site HOW THE HEAVEN YOU DO THAT? Appreciated! Big time
I have had the good fortune to play both leeward Island, and windward Island Koa (highly figured). Leeward makes both great traditional surfboards, and instruments, and the best windward figured Koa is simply amazing tone wood, as it is both warm, and detailed...The only parallel in the world is old central American/ African Mahogany - which also has warm sweetness.
