Wow-I didn’t know this song could get any more foreboding, but now that I can hear what the bass does during the verses, I can hear just how creepy it is. It almost sounds like something from a slow-tempo black metal song. You did a good job on this.
That ending riff to thought must of been hard to recreate probably especially you can hear how low he’s tuned and it’s wicked that you can hear his strings resonate against his bass! And for this to sound so good for the time period
Sure! I learn the song by ears so I have to retranscribe what I play in video on tabs, I'll try to do it this afternoon or tomorrow, as soon as possible
Holy shit man, I've repeatedly watched this video over and over again. I really can't thank you enough for making this. The bass tone makes the bass stand out in this song. I've played the drum track along to this cover and it means a lot that this is there.
This song is the reason i bought a bass last night, for the most part i obvs have other inspirations lmao. But up until it arrives ill have study this video, and understand tabs, so i can play it. Thank you sir and great cover!
Pretty good. Only one problem (and don't say the tabs are everything right, they have lied to me before) and it's one thing that everyone seems to get wrong. It's Drop B BUT the low string is tuned down to F#, like on "Scissors". F#, F#, B, E. Don't believe me? Listen to the last 2 minutes with a good sound system. I've got a really good ear for tuning.
It could work for the song... until the last couple of minutes. Listen to how clicky the bass is, it can't hold the tuning properly because the strings are probably not the right gauge. It would also make sense that this would be the tuning as "Scissors" is on the album "Slipknot", which was before IOWA. Plus, I've always listened very closely to songs to find out the tunings and I get very specific lol.
bassman plays very good ears :) when i was watching the end thought for a second "is this how it suppose to sound?" Then seen this message. But i really like his sound and timings, he played it perfectly
Started out playing an electric 6 string guitar, but bass stuff like this mad me get 2 bass guitars. Idk what it is, but when you play a bass version of a song, you get a lot more appreciation for the instrument and artist.
@@TBAGZPROUT no problem man. I started playing bass almost a month ago, and have been looking for tabs to this song (its my favorite slipknot song) for the whole time, and all the others sounded off, but not yours! it really helped me out, i can't thank you enough.
I just recently found out that the original tuning for this song that Paul used is F#... mate did he buy his Bass from hell? How tf do you tune it that low without the strings falling off?
I've got one question and one question only. If I am gonna buy a bass, does it matter what pickups it has? Like, if I wanna play metal, do I have to pick a bass with a specific pickup?
no, in my opinion it doesnt really matter, especially for your first bass first basses are designed to learn so take the cheapest one; my first bass was a fucking ugly painted piece of wood
I play guitar, but this is the song that made me buy a bass. Love this song and this cover!!! Great job man.
yeah the bassline is savage, thanks a lot!
Same!

The last 4 minutes are fucking disgusting I love this fucking song
I'm stoked to play this for my friend (who got me into the Knot matrix) after I get my bass on Christmas ^o^

scissors is tuned A F# B E. it's like drop B, only the low string is tuned down two more whole steps from C# standard rather than just one.
I think its a 5 string bass tunned F# B F# B E
This sounds so good! I love it 😍😍 favorite song off Iowa.
thanks a lot!
Best Fucking song out there. Best bass melody 100%
This might be the coolest bass cover on RUclips

Closest.
Dont know how many times have i played this video, I almost learned to play all the song (I am a noob =P), really thanks for the tabs!!
you're welcome, I'm glad I can help!! Don't hesitate if u have any questions :)
This album was actually one of the darkest albums of Slipknot. Because every member actually hated each other and they were all in pain.
I just recently found out that the original tuning for this song that Paul used is F#... mate did he buy his Bass from hell? How tf do you tune it that low without the strings falling off?
This song is actually played on a 5 string bass on f# standard tuning, the end riff is played on the 5th string on 6666555524666600024 repeat
Requires very thick gauge strings too. You would likely have to get your bass set up and nut filed to accommodate the low F#.
my hands are too small to reach the frets in a proper manner so I just go from above with my left hand
Plus cool 😎 🥛
The bass line at the end makes me want to buy a bass guitar
buy it!

How/with what did you tune your bass? I really want to play slipknot but I can’t find the right tuner and I can’t tune to drop B by ear.
D!RK Yo man if you’re still wondering, Drop B is B F # B E , which you can tune too on any tuner , but apparently this song is tuned to F# F# B E
