It's realy sad that the most special riff made by Paul Grey is now forgotten. Do Nothing (Bitchslap) is the only song where you can hear Paul Grey Slap n Pull.

Can't blame you... The album Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. Has totaly vanished from history. Since this album is from the time before Corey Taylor and considered as Demo album, Wikipedia barely know about that album. Plus, most of the track have been rearange to fit other big song. Only Do Nothing (Bitchslap) has never been rearange.
I don’t think there’s any way to reinvent that song into the current Slipknot sound the way they did with most of the songs off MFKR without it being incredibly jarring. I do wish they’d re-release it though, maybe as a Paul Gray tribute, because it’s a great song, just more of a Mr Bungle/Primus influenced thing than a modern Slipknot song.

EDIT: This also made me realise two things. First, that I take the tempo fluctuations in Slipknot songs for granted. Second, that Nero Forte is basically a djent song.

The secret is the fanned frets, if you look inside a piano you’ll see the lower notes have a longer string than the higher notes so that the lower notes get more clarity, same logic goes here as you can see that the low b is a lot longer than the high g which makes it sound ten times better/clearer

I would recommend you using a good audio system
From my limited experience with their music, their bass has a lot of low end rumble and follows fairly close to the guitar. They, also, don't play with much flair and choose to repeat just the right notes when they aren't riffing with the guitar.
Simply crank the bass to max

Love this bass sound. I am more into technical dm but there is this trend of having these farting warm bass sounds compared to your nice, clacky, metallic sound. Every bass should sound like in this video imo
Personally I want a tone like this but slightly warmer, it’s a bit too punchy and I like a little more sustain and warmness but this is the far and away the closest to the tone I want by anyone who puts out content like this

One thing I could never figure out when attempting these sort of bass tones... Is the mids boosted or scooped? It's beautiful. Fantastic playing too
Both. Some mids like 500 are cut. Other Mids like 1k, or 250 are probably boosted.

All hope is gone is the real hand killer every time I play it the down picking is wild there’s a reason it was only played Live once in its existence they had a hard time just playing through that song they always play faster live and they tried it with all hope is gone bad idea they almost train wrecked it lol another underrated Knot Song Gematria (The Killing Name), This Cold Black, and Where the Lies Continue . These songs are badass and they never even play them😕
Look at live version of the song All hope is gone. If you look closely on Paul's hand, he plays only 2 notes at intro. I think he doesn't play that technically on the recording

With a 5 string you can play most of their songs on standard tuning
