Truly a nice guy here! During the Eric Clapton tour I worked some backline for the opening act and during sound check got to talk with David! We talked about keyboard controllers and gear- he was a big fan of the Peavey 88 key controller ( it was a long time ago). We talked like we knew each other! Been a big fan ever since!
Was thrilled to be mentioned here .. was credited as Guy Shiffman while playing drums with Jon Anderson... later became Guy Mann-Dude... It was an amazing experience playing on the Jon Anderson ‘Animation’ tour...David Sancious was so amazing and he’s a great guitarist too ! It was 7 years before that I saw Clem Clempson with Humble Pie . I did see YES at the Whiskey ago go in the early 70’s... The Bass player RIP was Stefano Cerri... A fun tour ! Jon Anderson had the greatest audiences!
Thanks for the good words, Guy! I remember your column in Guitar School where you interviewed different greats. McLaughlin is one I remember. I only recently realized you played drums too and were on the Animation tour. You are one versatile "guy"!!
@@SOALNightLive Seems like David and the rest of the band should have been given partial writing credit for Seven Days on Ten Summoners Tales, as they basically wrote/constructed much/most of the song. David was very gracious about the topic, but still. Great channel you have...thank you!
Fantastic interview of a fantastic musician. One of the greatest keyboard heroes of the 70's. Records like "Forest of Feelings", "Transformation", "Dance of the age of Enlightenment", "True Stories" and "Just Has I Thought" are masterpieces of progfusion."The Bridge" is also a great piano album! Thanks for the interview and keep up the good work!
Thanks! Most of the time it just boils down to being 'bold' enough to ask directly. But for every one that says "Yes" two or three others blow me off. So it's always an uphill battle to round up the next month's guests. So far so good though and I have some more of this caliber waiting in the wings this Summer. Feels good to be your fave new channel!
Great interview. I do think the host missed out on aasking about "Dance of The Age of Enlightenment " and associated songs. Why was that never released?
Loved his collaboration with Billy Cobham!
