    Great video! And I think I would sleep with someone who is undetectable but I would want to know that they have HIV. So, I think people who are undetectable should still tell their partner. I feel like it would avoid future problems and trust issues, because if your partner found out they would be wondering why you didn’t tell them and might not even believe you when you say you’re undetectable.

      Thanks Alex! Happy to hear you would be open to sleeping with someone who's HIV+ :) I agree with you that, if it's not a big deal then you should just say it so the person knows. Cause if you tell them after, you can't change the past. If you tell them before, they can never blame you for not saying it earlier.

      And undetectable people are more safe than the people we meet at after party who never tested their status. Imagine a condom busts or slips while you're enjoying the honeyworld with a person you don't know their status. You'll be sweating and panicking but with undetectable person it's even safer

    I had 135K viral load when I first diagnosed in May, 2017. I started my medication in June and my next test in Aug, 2017 I was already undetectable :) since then I've been UD. U=U is amazing. I shouldn't be careful with myself infecting others but should be careful not others infecting me with any other STDs. Because there are still millions of people who doesn't get checked regulary against STDs.

    My answer to your question -- well, if you can't transmit anything to your partner, telling him/her boils down to pure communication. Which doesn't really make it any simpler -- there's no clear boundary for this, is there?
    As a general rule, I always encourage communication in matters of sex. Asking is not wrong (but the timing can be...), and I guess that understanding if your partner is completely oblivious to basic safe sex behaviors should be of primary importance. And once you're there, you can/should ask whatever you'd like to know.
    When all of this U=U will be common knowledge, you'll be free to decide whether telling without being asked. For know, since we're not there yet, even if I think that he/she shouldn't ASSUME that since you're not telling, there's nothing to tell -- especially if it's something he/she'd want to know -- you should follow your conscience and say that openly ("Btw, I think you should ask..."), or hide it. The latter can be tricky, with all these videos around.

    • @dianakoss2686
      @dianakoss2686  4 года назад +4

      Yeah definitely! You bring up an interesting point of how we seem to assume that if no one says anything, then both parties are clean. Because if someone had something, they would say it, right? We give _them _ the responsibility of telling the partner they have something. Maybe no one says anything until someone asks..
      But of course, if someone directly asked "hey do you have hiv?" and if the person straight up lies then I don't think that sets up a good foundation of trust. Since it sounds like you are trying to hide something at that point. Like you mentioned, the answer seems to be to always have open communication 🌟

    • @francescoconte7017
      @francescoconte7017 4 года назад +2

      I wouldn't ask "By chance, do you have HIV?", I would ask "Something I should worry about? I don't like worrying later, you know". The point is, if you have something and you can transmit it, even if in your opinion it's no big deal, I expect you to tell me. But if it's not transmissible, then I should expect you to tell me only if I clearly state "tell me whatever in advance, even if it's no big deal for you".
      And in general, asking "Before we go on tell me your story in 30 seconds" should lay down the right foundation for a lot of things.
      Then there is YOUR point of view -- maybe you don't care for them to know, or maybe you want this off your shoulders. That makes a difference.

    Great video! I honestly found out about U=U like 3 years ago reading a poster at my university. Your video is very fun, clear, scientific and educational, so I hope it reaches many other people :)
    To answer your question: education+communication is important. It is always good to wear protection when having sex with someone you don't know well, or if it's the first time with that person. You never know, they could be lying to you when they say they are clean but are in the heat of the moment (sounds awful but there are cases) or they simply have never gotten tested for any STD! I think honesty is the minimum you should expect so is better if both parts say from the beginning if they have any STD, have had one, or is undetected. But I can see why this can be hard as it is still not very common to talk about these topics in everyday life and honestly changes drastically based on culture. For the case of U=U, if the other person doesn't know what this means then, of course, explain it and if they don't want to believe the scientific background, then 'chao pescao' they don't deserve you, a more educated or open-minded person will come around.
    I can speak from my personal experience, and of some friends, that Latino men get super offended when you ask them if they are clean, or if you ask them to go take a test in case you want to begin a more serious relationship or don't wanna worry about condoms, etc. As for Latinas, we never get asked. With Americans/Europeans I never had this problem, they would automatically say 'yeah, sure do you recommend a place where to go get tested? Wanna come with me?' and that gave me so much more confidence. Again, don't want to generalize but it is a fact that sex-ed in Latin America is awful, so we can get very misleading information and act ignorantly. So yeah it is all about better education+communication.

    • @dianakoss2686
      @dianakoss2686  4 года назад +1

      Cool that you knew about it already from a poster! I wouldn't have expected that :)
      When you bring up 'chao pescao', I agree 100%. It's sometimes a lot easier said than done because the rejection is super rough at the beginning :/ .. but with time you'll forget about it...
      I can totally see what you mean when you say Latino men can get super offended because it might be so engrained in the culture to associate the STI with 'dirtyness' and they might get defensive and aggressive thinking you are implying they are dirty if they aren't clean. and this is just for bringing it up! ugh. I'm glad though that at least the Americans/Europeans are more open to getting tested together :)

I am heterosexual male, 6 weeks ago, while on a walk in my local park I stood on a syringe, It was a small cut I washed it, and disinfected it (or so I thought). 3 weeks after that I got flu like symptoms, when I went to the doctor, and told him about the syringe they ran blood tests, and stated that there is a high chance that I could be HIV positive (this was 3 days ago), since this news I have been lost, as my results are not officially back yet I cannot be linked in with help services. The only positive I am taking is that during this period, myself, and my partner have not had sex. • @dianakoss2686
      @dianakoss2686  2 года назад +2

      I know right! Pretty crazy how less than 200 copies/ml ensures that the viral load is so low (undetectable) that it can't be spread. I don't think it's just for the stigma - I think they're done COPIOUS amounts of studies showing this. Even when someone is NOT on medication, the risk is 8 per 10,000 sex acts (HIV positive man to HIV negative woman and 4 per 10,000 other way around, after the acute phase). This number can get higher to 1 in 100 when considering other factors. IT IS NOT ONE TO ONE that you automatically get HIV if you sleep with someone who has it (but of course it can happen just after one time too). Anyway - my dad is still HIV negative to this day and obviously he was exposed to it many many times by my mom (who had AIDS at a certain point almost 3 decades ago).

      When your viral load is undetectable it simply means there are not enough viral copies to be detected by test...but doesn't mean you are hiv negative. With undetectable viral load you will still test positive to hiv...because the virus still hides in some body cells since it has been suppressed by the ARV your taking.

      So if you are on ARV you should do a viral load test and not HIV test.

      (You should def consult with a doctor to make sure btw) buuut they do say that you should reach undetectable levels within 6 months (as the case with you) and that you shouldn’t be able to pass it on to someone. AGAIN PLEASE check with your doctor because I don’t know all your details!

    "Trust the science "
    yeah no. My first question is did those partners really cheat or was that just an excuse so that they can claim 0 status. And while it might be true it comes down to individual. They may or may not let you know before you have sex. Let's say that they do. Question would always be "did you take your pill ?". At some point HIV person might get petty and just stop taking it so that they infect their "partner" and try to trap them to stay with them.

      It’s great! Haha I do tell my partners (I haven’t always tho) and I always thought I would get rejected but it turns out my partners really wouldn’t care and they didn’t see it as a big deal. It was more coming from my own internal anxiety about it :)

      Like period sex or blood from tears? I want to answer this but I don’t want to give any misleading answers because I am not 100% certain. _however_, for period sex, blood from tears etc, if the person is undetectable it means there’s no traceable amounts of virus even in their blood, vaginal fluid, sperm, etc. blood transfers are a different story however

    Hi Diana
    I'm HIV+ and undetectable. But question is, when you're undetectable, does it mean the lab can't find any virus in your blood? Because the treatment suppressed it.

    • @dianakoss2686
      @dianakoss2686  Год назад +2

      Exactly this! A good analogy is the vivid test. sometimes a rapid test wouldn’t show up positive but a pcr test would. That’s because pcr tests are much more sensitive and accurate. The same here, the hiv tests are extremely sensitive, yet they still have their limits such that there *is* hiv still in us but it’s sooo low that even the best tests can’t detect it! Aka undetectable 😎

There’s an HIV Influencer that has repeated findings over decades named PozLeigh she females say that the men that they contracted HIV from were Downlow with gay/bisexual/trans people and affected their straight female partners that’s why mainly who is affected are men that sleep with men and straight women I know that you were born with it but do you think these seemingly straight men that are Downlow just go on with their lives Undetectable and build their own families and never tell the truth do you think it’s 100% possible for someone with HIV to actually live a complete lie in their household around medications and appointments are they posing risks to having their sperm impregnating a HIV - woman and the children can possibly get it but not the HIV - mothers?

    98644Islam raised the status of women and addressed her with her humanity and principles, and equalized her with discourse and duties with men- Islam singled out women in the largest wall of the Noble Qur’an, Surat An-Nisa - and the Messenger Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, praised all those who honor women - and demanded Hellfire for those who wronged her and cursed- Islam guarantees a woman a decent life throughout her life through inheritance rights and requires spending on her father, husband, and brother - and her right to work that does not jeopardize her dignity- A woman in Islam feels psychological security and stability whenever her body recedes, unlike the woman in the West - at this stage, (mother) Islam is considered the most obligatory respect and appreciation for the mother from all society, especially from children and grandchildren- Gaining the love and approval of the mother represents a path to heaven, and her anger leads to fire in Islam, which is considered the mistress of the family, and everyone loves to win her love - from time to time you find all parties presenting her with gifts- There is nothing in the Muslim family that worries the West about the flight of children from homes - the process of abortion, suicide and the dispersal of the family, which has become a prominent feature in the West in a frightening and increasing manner, and in most countries that claim the freedom of women, especially in girls- The Muslim woman with her veil is the one who owns her freedom, so only the one she loves can see her beauty - unlike the Western woman, she does not have the freedom to control her beauty in front of the owners of sexual frenzy- This is an overview of the Muslim woman. As for the Western woman, and her suffering, it will be at an upcoming date, God willing
