If you take for real what Binotto said that this year they had no plans to challenge the title but to get a good direction of car development, then they got it right. And the issues at Ferrari were not really scientific, they were human errors, like bad judgements calls on tires, a lot of bad calls on tires and pit stops. Also it does not help that Red Bull used 2 mil EUR on car development but written off as food expenses, so there's that.
