Totally agree! The reason why the team is so successful for so long term is his leadership model. Putting the right people at the right places is the most important thing.
Can you guys do a documentary where Toto talks about everything that makes him Toto Wolff ? I don't know if you know this but he has got almost as many fans (if not more) as Lewis. Thanks..
I like the way he talks, his leadership, and on a funny side, his sound too (that Arnold Terminator style) :) He is a man of great knowledge, he gives a lot of credit to the guys back at the factory, he encourages his staff to be innovative, to stay on their toes all the time. He lifts their spirit. Fantastic motivator. Knows when it's time to be funny, knows when it's time to be sharp and demanding. I think every born leader should have the qualities that Toto has. Cheers, guys. Thx for the video !
There's a documentary somewhere where he talks about how started selling candles. It's amazing how he had to become creative when his father died. Very inspiring
Toto wolff is totally PERFECT. Mercedes team is very lucky for having a leader like him. He was born to be a leader in a team/organization indeed. Not only his team, his wife and kids must be lucky for having a husband and father like Toto Wolff, a handsome man, smart, work harder person and all of positive things are in this guy.
Guys, I'm a Ferrari fan since 1998. More than 20 years and counting... And listening to Toto is my meditation. I believe that says it all. I've listened to his podcast with Nico maybe more than 50 times...
@Samanthaflower Honestly, I believe that Mercedes fans and Lewis' fans have a particular reason for not liking Nico. You have your right, I'm talking only about the content of the podcast of Toto there which is brilliant.
So many people say that F1 has been boring the past few years because its always Mercedes in front....that's not the fault of Mercedes. If other teams were as organised, empowered, developed the talent like Mercedes do and were led by a fantastic manager (in Toto), maybe they would be more competitive. Of all the leaders who I find inspiring, Toto is one of the top ones.
For a world with more leaders like Toto! [Gosh, I've really been waiting for this moment... ] Congratulations on your conduct, a perfectly professional attitude in the face of the most diverse hardship and, most of all, your sense of collectivity- increasingly indispensable nowadays. Du bist ein echter Boss, Maan. Respekt dafür! P.S. Can’t wait to see you slamming tables again. 👊🏻😉
I feel like I know Toto as a person but each time I feel that way, I remember I'm just a freaking stranger to him. He may even snub me if I ever get a chance to come close to him. And same applies to Lewis. That will really break my heart.
I think that considering Formula 1 as a platform where leadership in crisis, quick-decision making, long-term planning, avant-guard technologies, limited supply of high-skilled professionals, and so many other facets of this fascinating environment play a part, it´s great to hear someone successful like Toto speaking. I hope we have more of this, I really enjoyed watching this. Thank you very much!
I mean, I'm not a *_DIE HARD_* Mercedes F1 fan, but sure I do admire you (also Niki Lauda is my all time favourite F1 driver), and sure I loved this interview with the Tablenator Leader. Good Principles/Values he have, good Record he holds to prove that!...
I could listen to Toto all day, he has such gracious leadership philosophy that encompasses strong values and determination. He created the right equation (employees need empowerment and a safe/thriving environment) leading to Mercedes success.

Action speaks louder than words. Thank you for your leadership!!!
It goes even beyond the "no blame" culture. He instinctively inserts himself between the team and anything unpleasant going on in the press. If you want to alienate Toto, single out one of his team members to abuse.
Toto exemplifies the key skills and lessons learned of anyone who has successfully led a multi-disciplinary team. Having been thrust into this, all too rare form of team, myself at an early age it is a style of leadership not taught in any formal management training. In my experience few are actually capable of doing it successfully compared to the number who think they will be good at it. Having an ego big enough to be small is one of the key traits and Toto shows this in his words and deeds. You know like Jurgen Klopp that his team LOVE working with him.
This was a wonderful interview by Toto. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to spread some pearls of wisdom. Very inspiring. We have enjoyed following Mercedes' exploits on F1: Drive to Survive. Toto comes across as a strong and intelligent leader. Enjoy your time with your family.
I use Mr Toto’s advice for my Netball Club here in Sydney Australia which I coach junior and senior ladies and it has really helped myself build confidence, make new partnerships with sponsors, give guidance/leadership to my club staff and team. I would love to hear a Podcast from Toto or maybe a Book on Business Principles in racing that can add to every day life situations. Thank you for sharing with us I look forward to more videos. Stay safe during the Pandemic everyone 🖤
Probably one of the best videos I’ve watched in a long time! Really needed this while planning getting my business back on track after all this is over!!
I have a great respect for Toto. I've hung on to every word of this interview. There is one section I'd like to drill down into and it's the no blame attitude. How can one maintain the no blame attitude if there is a specific person to blame. I would like to personally ask him what is his thoughts on that
Change your mindset. It's not that there is someone to blame it is that there is a cause that can be corrected and therefore eliminated in the future. If you focus on the cause and not the person then people will volunteer the information about the cause. Do you hide the information when you make a mistake?
Exquisite video, insightful & intriguing, ‘defining a core objective’ there is a eminent well documented purpose, exhibiting the dedication and desire resulting in cohesive and cascading deliver of empowerment, the forefront principle with no blame culture in delivering this success of this team, everyone is settled and recalibrated in fulfilling the principle of everyone striving in same trajectory! This video is an excellent example of building a team!
It’s Incredible how Toto and KLOPP (Liverpool Manager) has the same philosophy of Life and ‘Creating a winning culture’. Incredible minds do think alike.
I would highly appreciate to have a discussion with Toto and Jürgen klopp about Leadership although nearly everything about their opinions are already online but would be interesting anyway
He just bought some shares in Aston Martin this morning (around 5% of Aston Martin prior to AM's rights issue diluting this down to 0.5%). This is claimed as a purely financial investment, but coupled with the previous rumours of him moving to Aston Martin I think we should take this as a key sign of: Toto moving to AM (with Stroll's financial backing, they could very well be the next big team); Lewis spending his swansong outside of Mercedes (he is waiting on Toto's move before his own). Neither would happen until at least the 2021 season although with the ongoing global situation this is more likely 2022.
Hearing news that Toto might retire from Mercedes. I swear, that would be a wooden stake, dipped in Scorpion poison, piercing through heart. If there is ever a choice to elect a leader, Toto is the man. Can't see F1 without him and Lewis at Mercedes.
How can , I a person from india where the exposure to technical side of motorsports is very less, reach into the f1 power unit development team ? PsI tried applying to all the teams but not getting accepted since i dont have right to work in UK.
I doubt there are any Ferrari fanboys watching this video, but if there are; this is why you are falling behind while Mercedes becomes more and more dominant. This is why you had to cheat just to be runner-up while Mercedes pulls away and Red Bull closes in. I am not a Mercedes fan, but I know why they're winning and I respect them for it
@@MercedesAMGF1 Thank you for noticing. Toto’s “no blame culture” is interesting to me as it aligns with my approach. Recently a manager who reports to me overspent their approval limit by 4.5X. When I was speaking to him about it, I could tell he was tense, so I said, “Name, you know me. I want to work on a no blame basis. Let’s look at the process so we can see what happened, so we can get a better process for the future and get a better result next time.” Instantly his shoulders relaxed and he opened up.
