1961 Ferrari 156 Sharknose at Spa 2012
event: Spa 6 Hours
date: 2012-09-21 to 23
series: Historic Grand Prix Cars Association
driver: Jan Biekens
Chassis: 0002R
In 2004 a Belgian enthusiast commissioned Jim Stokes in Great Britain to build a reconstruction of the 156 'Sharknose' (chassis 0002) used by Olivier Gendebien in the 1961 Belgian Grand Prix. Using as many original parts as possible, including the 65º V6 engine and five-speed gearbox, Stokes created a very accurate replica of the legendary Ferrari F1 car. The chassis and suspension were fabricated in-house using original drawings. The body was carefully crafted by bodywork specialists VintageCars. Five years in the making, chassis '0002R' made its public debut at the 2009 Goodwood Revival.

This car was painted in yellow because the entrant was Ecurie Nationale Belge (ENB).
For belgium, the color was yellow (british racing green for Great Britain, red for Italian and so on)
So this color is quite correct.
in 1961, the driver was Olivier Gendebien (belgium).
I thought it was entered by the Ferrari factory team. They did this with a lot of Belgian drivers.
@@CamperPro2012 No. The entrant was Ecurie nationale belge.

@@DL-ls5sy yes, you're right 😅
Such a beautiful machine
1961 the year I was born. I am getting old...
My god,heaven on earth!!
I had no idea the 156 was such a small car.....but it was light-weight...but it had no ground-effects....but it was fast....but it ran on bias-ply tires....but is was FAST for its day! ...and it's still sooooo cool.
What a machine !!
mooie Ferrari en video

Today's Tifiosi can be so IGNORANT!
It's BREATHTAKING

Bólido muito bonito
My old man's formula 3 Ducati had that same rev counter on it.

I just got a hot wheels ferrari 156
It's more accurate than I thought
Is this the car that Olivier Gendebien drove (to fourth place) in the 1961 Belgian Grand Prix?
Probably
No.. the original cars were destroyed on order by Enzo himself when they were obsolete.. this is a replica car, based on found blueprints.
I've read that Enzo was completely indifferent to old chassis' once they were superseded. Just pile up in some dusty corner waiting to be crushed and anything useable recycled.
tried to catch the autograph, can anyone decipher it?
Bit late for a reply, but it's Jan Lammers.
I realise that it's a modern safety requirement but what a shame that the higher roll-bar has to be used.
google some pics of sharknose and you will see that the car had them exactly like this back in the day.
that's what they used back in the day Bruce.
Yep.... you're 100% correct.
I could've sworn that the original 'bar was not as high as that. :)
Bruce Kennewell they barely had enough room to duck their heads, lol. crazy bastards!
I know Bruce, it's amazing that more guys weren't killed from the seventies on back.
Far more interesting if they could have used the original Spa circuit.
Asking out of interest because I don't know. Can the original Spa circuit be still connected together?
@@benitolonard4441 Yes, but the road itself has been altered... a couple of the intersections have a different layout and on one of the straights, there's now a roundabout.
@@KayoMichiels Great. Thanks for the information. Really appreciate it.
It´s a replica, a very well done replica,
With an original engine and transaxle.....
José Luis Rey Moreira its basically a reconstruction... example the temple of karnak in egypt has a lot of plaster in what they call a restoration yet the temple isn't considered a replica. this car is the same way, its a restoration with as many original parts as possible. that could even come down to the little things they don't tell us.
I agree, and respect such a nice work of art.
@@adam1othman Nope...
@@fredpel1089 ...and many other original parts & fiddly bits! A mechanical reunion for us to Enjoy!

A great compliment for thie birtthday of the rebuilt FERRARI Dino 156 Sharknose No.8 from Olivier Gendebien1961 Belgian GP ! I visit this race in 1961 and shoot a foto in the Soure.

1961 Sharknose Ferrari painted yellow..........does not seem quit right. Phil, Ritchie, Wolfgang would agree.
Thanks for the info.
I think it (yellow) was for a Belgian driver. Don't complain, they were painted white and blue in American colors at one time. Something to do with a union dispute I think. Very attractive.
this might've been olivier gendebien's ferrari as he usually had yellow painted cars, the national racing colour of belgium at the time
Ignoramuses speak up from positions of shear stupidity!
Belgium's racing colors at that time.
If you can afford the car you can afford to have a color coordinated helmet
Not necessarily... even back then, each driver used his own colour or design on their helmet... it's not bound to each car.
Chassis obsolete, even in 1961.
But more than enough power to beat the 4 cyl. Climax and Porsche competition..
EXCEPT at Monaco and The Ring...
Obsolete in 1961.... they finished, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th with it at Spa...
Paint it red!

@Your Dad Correct, Dad!
It's Yellow because it was driven by a Belgian driver (Olivier Gendebien) at the 1961 Belgian Grand Prix
Looks nothing like a shark.
