Some people may find it lazy, but I actually love it when games reuse animations from older titles. Makes it feel like the games are more interconnected + it cuts down on dev time
Tbh it isn’t lazy because they had to completely remake the animations for most of the new character models anyway, like Fiona or Valdi specifically. It’s just cool that they’re referencing old arts
I saw Ethel doing Silver Cyclone out of the corner in my eye back in Chapter 3 during her Hero Quest and I instantly recognized Stream Edge's animation. I already knew she was sick, Monolith didn't need to convince me *that* hard. Also, I was certain that Elma's Side Slash was a reference to one of Fiora's arts, but I guess I entirely forgot what Fiora's arts are besides her Sword Drone talent art.

Valdi's War Medic class grants the art "Advanced Cooldown", though he never uses it himself. It places down a defense up field around the user, and uses the same animation as Sharla's Talent Art - it's basically a much more useful and less annoying of her having to cool her rifle off!

While obviously part of it is to make things easier on the devs, I also really like the lore implications of attack names and animations being reused. It suggests that the parties of Xc1 and 2 (sadly X isn’t part of this universe) were so influential that even the techniques they used on their lesser used weapons were seen, copied, and passed down through the generations.
A lot of these can’t just be reused assets tbh, with characters like Ghondor and Zeke having very different skeletons that make it impossible to reuse animations
