- The Redcat Racing GEN8 crawler chassis grew a quick following through its release as a ready to run with the Scout II Body. For the price, this truck is loaded and performs well in many conditions. But it wasn’t long before builders were customizing and modifying the chassis to make it their own. Who knows if this inspired Redcat or they had plans on their own, but they have released a simple pre-assembled GEN8 chassis kit and it allows you to build your RC scale crawler exactly how you want it. We’ve had this chassis kit for a little while now and after tweaking and tuning the build over the past few months, we’re finally ready to show you what we’ve come up with. I'm just getting back into the hobby and I am doing a LOT of research. I have come to rely on you as a very trusted source of accurate information. You have given me inspiration for builds and what cars and trucks to start with. The frosting on the cake here is your videography of demonstrating what you have reviewed. I have bought a few redcat crawlers. This Gen 8 kit is good to go out of box. I wish they still made the pack. I’m going to buy another gen8. I love the platform. And I have broke anything on it nor the wendigo. Lol I’ve destroyed the gen7 front axles, my fault for not limiting the steering when I got a new transmitter.
I think that looks a lot better then the Jeep body would have looked. And it fits nicely

Going with the 72 Chevy pickup, wheel base is spot on for the Gen 8.
Gonna take my time and get the body done nice.
I've been model building and RC aircraft for years but this is my first RC truck build.
My brother hooked me in after I bought him a 1/16 rc tank, then he got the Traxxas crawler, now he bought me the P.A.C.K Gen 8 kit.
I'm going low dollar build first to get crawling then I know the mods will come....

ordering my Gen 8 Scout II Axe this weekend, and already found my Ram Shell and a flatbed Rollcage with tire mount. Can hardly wait to start crawling

That turned out great, I pick a Gen8 pack up a couple of weeks ago, put an Xtra Speed Raptor hard body on it, great truck.
That combo makes me want to do a pack build !!!! Awesome work

How do you like the redcat gen8 portal axle? in terms of reliability, the angle of rotation? if you compare with trx4 axle?

I know this is an old video, but I can't find any info on the pinion gear. What is the pitch of the gear? I've seen .8 and I've seen mod1. Want to order the proper gear pitch for it

@@rcdriver thanks for the reply. I meant to ask how did you wired it up as I'm getting an issue with a sound kit and I think it's down to loss of power.
The u-joints on the driveshafts are out-of-phase. U joints are supposed to be in line! NOT 90 degrees out of alignment! Redcat still hasn't figured that out yet. Hundred dollar bill says the slip splines won't allow proper alignment.
Is that body available still?
How would it do with a silver can 540 motor? Nimh battery

3 Monster trucks, a funnycar all kinds of tamiya trucks, buggys, cars, even a mammoth dump truck
Never tried crawling before so i need to make the right decision first time around and like it
And not buy a bad crawler and get a bad first impression of what its all about
I would like to have an rc crawler, but in Brazil it is very expensive, if in the United States it is 500 dollars, in Brazil it is like 4000 dollars
What is the purpose of the pan hard bar?
It stops the body from moving sideways when you steer.

Not much easily drops on. There is a C10 body mounting video on the Redcat channel.
Hi Greg! Just a couple of questions on those BFG tires. Are those the G8 or Predator compounds? And did you just use the foams that came with them tires? Awesome content. 👍🏼👍🏼
They're the Predator compound. Stock uncut foams inside.

I would not recommend the Puller Pro XL like you did for this truck. Did you even test fitment? That motor is ridiculous for this truck.
Too many considerations and modifications in order to make this kit to work, you are a pro, but someone like me without the experience it would be very difficult...
Do they make a kit that you can build yourself? Not pre assembly?
jamie stuart No, not as a full build-up. They did do a good job with the build. Portal housing and pumpkins filled with grease.
Who cares if the body isn't made any more, it looks too good to sit on a shelf.
man i bought the chassis 1 week ago i used brushed motor 21T H.H with 80A brushed Hobbywing but i really regret it ! its a heavy crawler it weights too much without the battery and the body ! its a very slow crawler not so capable and not worth the price build !
