It doesn't just look futuristic, but also so clean and orderly. That's the difference to NYC. NYC also has tall buildings and lots of lights, but it's really very dirty and sort of not well taken care of and chaotic.
I think another difference is that Chinese cities (compared to other metropolises) have a much darker lighting. Probably has to do with the widespread use of LED lights as opposed to incandescent. Nothing against Seoul or Delhi deciding to light the place up like its noon, but the darker ambiance is just more relaxing.
Well New York is a much older city. Many of the skyscrapers of New York were built in the 1930s. Shanghai didn't start to explode in growth until the 1990s. Hence why it looks newer and more futuristic.

well wetsern media is pretty biased when it comes to china... they like to portray it as some old fashioned oppressive dictatorship
@@cornelius3583 it really is. What was showed on this video is just a little part of China. In the chinese agricultural zone which consists the maiority of the demography, reality is very different. China has more than 1.3 billion of people and still have a communist central government. Even the most poor countries of the world has their "turistic points".
@@AndrewsMachado-h6i 来过中国么?这样的城市在中国至少有4个比这差一点的十几个。 中国的北京、上海、广州、深圳。你应该多了解一下中国然后再发言

I still probably love tokyo in general more, but holy shit I never knew that Shanghai was this beautiful and futuristic. It seriously seems something out of a game or my dreams.
@@riorio745 Yeah, Shanghai is definitely the most beautiful city in China without a doubt.
@@riorio745 Shenzhen if you like ALL modern architecture. and also tropical weather (i.e. summer all year round, no seasons.)
Same here, Tokyo is first but Shanghai is second for me
Looks like first-person Sci-Fi game scene.
Can you imagine walking down the same street 30 years ago! It would have been completely different !
30 years ago these was absolutely nothing across the river. The now called Lujiazui Fianancial District was merely a mix of farmland and low-income housing back then. I lived there between when I was 2 and 6 years old, right behind those skylines.
It was the place Shanghai lovers looking for privacy because they normally living with their families in small apartments. We called it lover's Bund.
@@hong3170 haha, yes.
欢迎来到上海!Welcome to shanghai! lots of memories in this overcrowd city, bund is an awesome place to film and take photos. Brings back memories. Thanks for this video.....a wonderful city indeed.
