@@陳大勇-r7q Nah. my country Singapore is behind in terms of technology. Few things you see in Singapore are really original ideas from Singapore. The reason why Shanghai doesn't feel like a megacity is because it's built under a different philosophy than NYC or Tokyo. In Shanghai we have very high density residential complexes, which in terms allows the non-residential areas to be more open. Also, a big signature of Chinese cities is that we do our best to make sure every street has trees, no matter how downtown it is. As a Shanghainess myself I'm a bit sad how underrepresented our kind of megacities are in pop cultures, since, in my humble opinion, it's a better kind of cities.
It's probably better to have wide streets and open spaces if you live there but as a tourist I like more compact and walkable cities. I find Hong Kong, Tokyo, Taipei and Chongqing more interesting and charming, with the narrow streets, old buildings and streets designed for people, not for cars.
Shanghai metro is a way bigger than Tokyo or NYC in term of area. If you talk about population, 1/3 of Japanese population lives in Tokyo metro, is that a good thing for a country........ Tokyo and NYC are more famous than Shanghai to Westerners is simply because what happened in last 100 years and because the dominance of the US, and its allies in term of economy, military, and overall influence......As someone who lived in NYC and moved to TX, I can say the NYC is a mess, really messy.....
@@Jin88866Sadly car-centric mindset does have its place here. It is compensated somehow by the widespread metro system and clever design of indoor malls, but it needs a fair amount of time before the public start to realise the importance of walkable cities

China has a long cultural and abundant historical heritage, as well as beautiful mountains and plateaus, which are definitely worth exploring more. I recommend Suzhou and Xi'an. In Suzhou, you can see the ancient graceful southern Chinese towns and gardens. Xi'an is the ancient capital of 13 dynasties in China, with a history of 3,000 years. Why does China prohibit the construction of buildings over 500 meters? Firstly, China already has too many tall buildings, with 51 out of the top 100 skyscrapers worldwide located in China. Secondly, there are safety concerns associated with such tall structures, posing significant challenges for firefighting and requiring substantial maintenance investments as they age. Thirdly, some buildings lack architectural design and can disrupt the city's skyline and aesthetic appeal.
Record-making skyscrapers need carefully crafted budget and plan to build. Apparently some proposals were not well financed, dug holes in China’s economy.

When I was in Shanghai about 10 years ago, I made that as my base, stayed 2 days there, then took about 1-hr trip by high speed train to Suzhou for 2 days' stay, then Hangzhou for 3 days' stay. I also had a day trip to Tongli Ancient Town. These 3 places are next to Shanghai and easily accessible by high speed rail. I went to these places for it's classical, beautiful ancient water towns and compared to Shanghai, they were less crowded and offer a more tranquil, chilled experience.
I would like to visit Shanghai. The only places in asia I've visited are Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan (Taipei), and Thailand (Bangkok). I'm from UK, and the Shard building you mentioned is located in London. Enjoy your visit in China.
just came back from china for 1 month vacation, now back to houston,I already start planning my next trip to china again. So vast and developed and fun there.
China is one of my favorite Asian country just next to Japan. Love the culture and advanced service everywhere. Shanghai is on my top 3 favorite cities around my traveling history around the world.
99% of Japanese culture can find its roots in China. For example, the kimono that represents the image of their country is the costume of the Wu Kingdom during the Three Kingdoms period of China. Their kimono shop now uses Chinese characters for "Five Blessings" and the clogs worn on the feet. There are already cherry blossom trees, wait, South Korea is like this too。
Japanese culture originated from China, as did South Korea and many Southeast Asian countries. Chinese culture has a particularly great influence in East Asia.
Fun to watch these, I've been living in Beijing for nine years. In Shanghai to visit my wife's family at Chinese New Year, I advise everyone avoid Shanghai during this period, it is packed with people.
You are certainly professional in your filming and editing Ken. You can ride a bike and keep on with your narration as you go. Always a splendid trip along with you providing information all along the way. I remember being in the building across from the tallest building there and the tallest building was being built at that time. Certainly an unbelievable site. Thanks Ken.
China is a beautiful modern city speaking mandarin food shopping paradise international airport big country people friendly kind clever creative hardworking brave people tour guide can help you to solve the problems ❤❤
It is quite difficult to get a gas car license in Chinese cities now. So a huge portion of the cars running in Chinese cities are electric cars. That is why they are so quiet. Also, Chinese have learned to be patient and don't honk their horns. One reason is, as shown, very wide and clean road roads. So there are not too many traffic jam. And people would get less stressful driving and less likely to honk. In term of electric cars and city streets, China is FAR AHEAD of the world.
Tbh I’m quite open minded with gender identification and homosexuality stuff but the political correctness in the western countries collectively (more or less ) has become out of control for sure.
In the past twenty years,German cars are very popular in China. Audi Benz BMW .Now they all face the challenge of EV. Germany and China need to cooperate together.
China is an amazing country that will continue to improve and open up to the world. Amazing progress in the last 30 years compared to when I was a kid. My late Father got to see how China changed from when he was a kid during World War II in Hong Kong.

Prohibiting the construction of buildings over 500 meters is because in various aspects, high-rise buildings have hidden dangers or higher costs in terms of safety, utilization efficiency, and future maintenance, avoiding the waste of social resources caused by the "high for high" construction. China is pragmatic, and we still have 1.3 billion people to feed, which is not a small number.
The reason Shanghai is not as crowd as a city of 25 million people is because it's not actually a city but a region of 6300 square kilometers. The 4 urban districts have about five million and the places tourists frequence have much less. "市" should not have been translated to "city" but "region".
So glad you come to visit and experience another side of Asia. Love your video and your presentation! Look forward to see your trips to different parts of China. Once again, welcome Ken!

Ken, this is an amazing sight of Shanghai . Thank you for a wonderful vlogg.
Wunderschöne Informative Video von Herr Ken 💚❤️👌
Amazing again. What an awesome city I think I would like to go there one day.
I was very pleased to see so many people can help you in English. The food looks so delicious.
China is now visa-free for many European countries, it's very convenient to go if you are from Europe.
It looks like great fun touring with your friends
It is moving that Chinese people from different cities welcoming Ken to their cities. They are all the ambassadors of their cities and proud of their home towns.
Shanghai is really something! It's got a very unique mix of modern and transitional rarely seen in other places!
Came to China in 2010, still here! In Xiamen - another amazing city 😎
Hi Ken, thanks for this video. I have never visited China and so this video is so interesting for me.
the Shanghai metro is really at another level comparing to the rest of the world's
The skyline of Shanghai is just magnificent especially at night.A shout out to those who designed and constructed that massive Shanghai Tower which is just breathtaking with that fantastic view.I can imagine how impressed you are in this super mega city. Will be waiting for the next exploration Ken.Enjoy!💕🇲🇾
like your video so much~~thank you for your fair and objective record of your journey in China!I'm really looking forward to your next videos❤❤
I really enjoy watching your video showing what is really going in China. You can't get more authentic than this.
6:44 As a Chinese, I had always been told that in Germany, all transits are always on time, accurate to the second. I think that motivates generations of Chinese people to work hard to achieve it. And now you are telling me this is futuristic for you. hahahha :D
德国铁路几本不准时。很少有准点到达的😂
最近看了個德國博主的短視頻,
他發現火車準時,流下了淚水。
然後醒了…。😂
忘了他叫什麼,全程不說話,
就靠表情。
People all over the world should keep an open mind about China. China has changed so much over a decade or two. We have many modern cities and Shanghai is one of them. We hope you can come to visit us and see yourselves.
Holy Moly ken China towers are so beautiful. @ clean...enjoyed the views. Happy travels ken. 😜❤
上海到苏州坐高铁现在只需二十来分钟,当然你也可以坐地铁到苏州,那样可能多花一点时间~
Hello Ken, Wow👍👍👍 Thank You Beautiful Adventure 👍 That’s so cool🤗
WHAT A COINCIDENCE! Joseph is also a friend of mine😂😂 we had spent some memorable time in Shanghai back into 2019🎉🎉
I'm sure it's a Chinese green screen movie.

I am Chinese. We welcome every foreign friend who likes China to visit our country.
欢迎来成都看大熊猫😂
China is one of my favorite Asian country just next to Japan. Love the culture and advanced service everywhere. Shanghai is on my top 3 favorite cities around my traveling history around the world.
99% of Japanese culture can find its roots in China. For example, the kimono that represents the image of their country is the costume of the Wu Kingdom during the Three Kingdoms period of China. Their kimono shop now uses Chinese characters for "Five Blessings" and the clogs worn on the feet. There are already cherry blossom trees, wait, South Korea is like this too。
China > Japan 100%
@anglohan5428在夢裡什麼都有😂
Japanese culture originated from China, as did South Korea and many Southeast Asian countries. Chinese culture has a particularly great influence in East Asia.
欢迎再来!可以来苏州玩玩!有充满古典韵味的园林建筑~
Shanghai is really a mega-city. And the city is particularly advanced and clean. I want to go again😂❤❤❤
建议你换个城市,因为穷尽一生都无法走完中国😊,建议下次到小城镇走走,包括发达的、不发达的小城镇,各有其特色。
Wow ...I want visit China thanks for sharing 👍
Welcome to travel to China! Welcome to book your itinerary with me!
Thank you for your video. I miss Shanghai so much. My favoriate city in the world.
Ken Thanks for you vedio with fantastic and amazing contents
Fun to watch these, I've been living in Beijing for nine years. In Shanghai to visit my wife's family at Chinese New Year, I advise everyone avoid Shanghai during this period, it is packed with people.
春节期间,大城市的人很少,因为很多居住在大城市的人回到了家乡和家人团聚。
You are certainly professional in your filming and editing Ken. You can ride a bike and keep on with your narration as you go. Always a splendid trip along with you providing information all along the way.
I remember being in the building across from the tallest building there and the tallest building was being built at that time. Certainly an unbelievable site. Thanks Ken.
Thank you 🙏
你的视频很棒,让我从外国人的视角来看待自己的国家,非常感谢!
Great job! Peace and love from Siberia.
When you don't waste your time figuring out how many genders there are, it gives you time to focus on building public transportation that works.
Lol
Tbh I’m quite open minded with gender identification and homosexuality stuff but the political correctness in the western countries collectively (more or less ) has become out of control for sure.
@@jinniwind Exactly, keep government out of people's bedrooms.
In the past twenty years,German cars are very popular in China. Audi Benz BMW .Now they all face the challenge of EV. Germany and China need to cooperate together.
Hi Ken, 好吃 haochi means tastes good for solid foods while 好喝 haohe means tastes good for liquids (what Joseph said) 😊
Great video Ken. Keep them coming.
China is an amazing country that will continue to improve and open up to the world. Amazing progress in the last 30 years compared to when I was a kid. My late Father got to see how China changed from when he was a kid during World War II in Hong Kong.
This is the first and only video of yours that I have watched so far and it's also the first video of yours that appeared in my feed. This video is of excellent quality and is also an entertaining one.
Thanks for watching 🙏
Tolle Menschen, tolle Stadt. Die Menschen dort können wirklich stolz darauf sein was sie erschaffen haben.
Wenn man das auch noch mit Europa vergleicht. Omg wir sind Barbaren 😂
Great and interesting content. I enjoyed watching it and loved it once again. Thank you Ken.👍👍👍😍😍😍
China is a wonderful place to visit absolutely love visiting there. So much more advanced than anyplace else on earth that I have visited and I have been almost everywhere.
Thanks for sharing the amazing view
Ohhhhhh my stomach turned when you were on the tower. 🤢 what a fantastic view…if your tummy can handle it. 😮
I saw my brother’s apartment when you were biking lol! I lived nearby too haha! I am happy you like Shanghai and hope you have more local foods here😮❤enjoy ur time 🎉
I miss Shanghai, I am from Indonesia and lived there from 2009 to 2012 and almost every year I still have chance to visited friends before I went to Yiwu for business. And I haven't been there since 2019. Plan to go to Shanghai again this June.
Welcome to Shanghai!😘😘👍👍
Can’t wait for the new vids😊
I will love to visit the country soon ❤
Shanghai definitely modern and beautiful city
So glad you come to visit and experience another side of Asia. Love your video and your presentation! Look forward to see your trips to different parts of China. Once again, welcome Ken!
Shanghai is really amazing, its a great video and very impressive to me, I am looking forward to your next video about China
Thank you for your video, it reminds me of the wonderful memories of my visit to Shanghai 10 years ago :)
There are lots of expat and Chinese vlogs on RUclips which are worth following for you to understand China in-depth. (eg, Luca and Michele, Barrett, Jerry Grey, Katherine’s Journey to the East, Blondie In China, Daniel Dumbrill, Reportefy Media).
Even state-owned media outlets like CCTV/CGTN, Xinhua News Agency, Shanghai Media Group (Shanghai Eye, Dragon TV, Yicai, ICS Shanghai, BesTV), GRTN, Shenzhen Daily, Shanghai Daily, Rednet/Hunan Times, Global Times, Hunan Television, Phoenix Television, Beijing TV, China Daily, People’s Daily and Sixth Tone as an outreach to the international audiences
Amazing! 😢What a fantastic development China has made since the late forties of the last century! It is really a super power in the world.
Nice video! So many tall buildings! Ken would also stand out in Shanghai for being tall!
Yeah... I do remember your Chinese friend.....He did appear in some of your vlogs before...... Always a good feeling to meet up with friendly face when you're travelling. Probably might be visiting Shanghai somewhere in the near future..... As always, stay safe and take care on the travels on there... Cheers mate!
You as an OG viewer have seen him before yeah 😎
Welcome to my familiar city Shanghai, and let more foreigners know Shanghai culture. And it’s my pleasure to be your china guider if you will travel to other cities in the future 😊
The tower views would have been even more spectacular at night I'll bet. That's quite a massive city. Makes our cities in Canada look small.
Amazing. Btw the Shard is in London. Its tall by European standards but only half the height of that one you went to.
