As a metalhead myself Dreamcatcher is basically the only kpop group I listen to. I can listen to a few songs here and there, but DC is the only group in my life.
Okay, so do yourself a little favor. There is a Girl Band (NOT just a Girl Group, but an ACTUAL BAND) called Rolling Quartz. Their Drummer is Han Dong's drum teacher. They are actually an all-girl Metal band. I am sure you will at least appreciate their cover of DreamCatcher's song Good Night. Rolling Quartz is AMAZING. This is just to get you started, they have lots of other cool stuff too but are obviously largely ignored (undeservedly so). ruclips.net/video/6ZMwFjO2yvY/видео.html&ab_channel=ROLLINGQUARTZofficial
- *"Scream"* #1 in a trilogy, talks about being bullied to the point of wanting to scream - *"Boca"* #2 talks about speaking out against bullying (Boca Spanish for mouth) - *"Odd Eye"* #3 is about searching for a utopia with no bullying and not finding it *DREAMCATCHER* has a huge following outside Korea, mainly Europe because for some reason rock is NOT very popular in Korea. Their songs are about social and environmental issues.
"...for some reason rock is NOT very popular in Korea." Before we get into this, you need to understand that in many ways South Korea very conservative. In some ways, as a society, they're kind of stuck in the 50's. Some years ago a South Korean rock group exposed themselves on stage. To put it bluntly, they danced around on stage with their schlongs hanging out. This caused a HUGE scandal at the time and ever since then rock music has had a huge stigma attached to it in South Korea. Anything and everything associated with rock was also associated with the scandal, so for a while rock was pretty much persona non grata in South Korea. This is why rock is, or to be more accurate, was NOT popular in South Korea. It was not only unpopular, it was unwanted by the majority of South Koreans. Thanks to groups like Dreamcatcher, and some other groups, SK has become more receptive to rock and metal.
@@keithcraig506Thanks for that, YES there have been more rock bands or rock concept groups come out more. - Pink Fantasy- rock concept group - UNI - debuted last week, girl band - Rolling Quarz - female band - The Rose - male band ....etc etc
When one tells you Dreamcatcher is so underrated considering reading the achievement list below which shows Dreamcatcher has already achieved a lot but definitely not to the point they really deserve. They should be at least like BTS or Blackpink level famous and invited to every TV shows for live performance. Here are some of their achievements: - In 2017 Dreamcatcher (debut year) achieved: 1) First EP album 'Prequel,' reached top (#1) US iTunes K-Pop Top 100 Chart, debuted #5 on the Billboard World Albums Chart and #3 on Billboard's Best New K-Pop Acts. 2) Nominated for Melon Music Awards (New Artist of the Year) and Mnet Asian Music Awards (Best New Female Artist). - In 2018 Dreamcatcher achieved: 3) First K-pop girl group to complete a tour of major European cities. 4) Second EP album 'Escape the Era,' reached #1 Hanteo's album chart, #1 China's Yinyuetai, #3 on Gaon reached and debuted #7 Billboard World Albums Chart. 5) Latin American tour in South America. 6) Won the Keum Yeong Star Awards (Promising Idol). 7) Nominated for Korean Brand of the Year (Female Idol of the Year). - In 2019 Dreamcatcher achieved: 8) Second European tour and 1st US tour. - In 2020 Dreamcatcher achieved: 9) 5th EP album, 'Dystopia: Lose Myself,' #3 best selling album on Hanteo among girl groups / female soloists for August 2020, beating group or soloist such as Red Velvet (Monster), Blackpink (How You Like That, and Kill This Love), Twice (More & More), GFriend (Song of the Sirens), Hwasa (Maria), Jennie (Solo), April (Hello Sumer), Rocket Punch (Blue Punch) and just behind Itzy (Not Shy) and (G)I-DLE (Dumdi Dumdi) at #3. 10) Won the Ten Asia Global Ten Ten Awards (Best Artist). 11) Nominated for Soribada Best K-Music Awards (Popularity Award). - In 2021 Dreamcatcher achieved: 12) DC became first K-Pop girl group to reach #1 Billboard's Next Big Sound chart 13) Sixth EP Album 'Dystopia: Road to Utopia,' reached top (#1) iTunes Worldwidie Album chart in 16 countries, #2 in Netherland, and top 10 in 35 countries 14) Dami & Siyeon's OST for the drama Black Hole debuted #1 K-OST's chart 15) Nominated for Brand Customer Loyalty Awards (Hot Trend Female Idol Group) and Asia Artists Awards (Female Idol Group Popularity). - In 2022 Dreamcatcher achieved: 16) First & second music show win with Maison on MBC M's Show Champion and SBS MTV's The Show respectively. 17) First K-Pop group/artist invited to Primavera European Music Festival in 2022 18) Second US tour 19) Won the K Global Heart Dream Awards (Best Music Video). 20) 3rd European tour in November. Dreamcatcher really has no bad songs and many if not all of their B-sides can be title tracks! So don't sleep on them or you would be missing out of this great legendary group.
@@Veronica.1371hm but they're not that popular. Of course we have to see that rock bands are not as popular as idol rock groups but I would even say that no other group could do what Dreamcatcher did too. I have no proof since there's no one out there that does it but to me this lack of a competition for Dreamcatcher shows to me that it's just not worth the risk. I mean it's hard to say bc we're in a difficult situation. The big 3 could just make a group like Dreamcatcher but they don't, they rather do even more riskier things like AI or this mix concept that Nmixx has. So either it's not popular enough, they don't wanna be accused of copying Dreamcatcher (I don't think it would bother big 3 but could be a reason), or the market is just fine with one rock idol group. Again, this is very difficult to say. We saw that fans eat everything up, some groups had a massive success this year with a rock title track, even though it didn't fit their concept. But that was just a trend. So my opinion is that while rock isn't as "edgy" anymore, it remains a genre which is not as popular as the other genres with the general public and only resurfaces every few years if it's trendy again. And that's also why Dreamcatcher satisfies the general demand, while fans that want more rock turn to the bands, which are not as "mainstream". (I wouldn't consider Dreamcatcher mainstream at all but if a kpop fan wants to get in touch with heavier stuff it's probably first through them, since they're also way more in the public eye and growing massively in success the last years.) Sorry this was just a brain dump I hope it makes sense.
In my opinion I think you will like "Endless Night", "No More", "Eclipse", "Sahara" a lot. It's their most metal-laden songs. And the Masterpiece "Deja Vu".
I don't see anyone mentionning 'Endless night', it's one of their japanese songs and i think it's their heaviest one so far (or just my favorite one lol) Also, 'YOU AND I' from their korean discography : a masterpiece 🤌🏼🤌🏼
Dreamcatcher is dark angels of kpop . They are also known as " face of rock in kpop" they do genere blending I.E. thrir signature sound is rock fused with different genere only girl group consistently doing it without ever changing their genere styles since their debut. Makes their rock sound unique and new in the industry. For hardest rock you can check out their japanese single: 1.Endless Night 2.Breaking out Anime opening : 1. Eclipse (Kings raid op 2.) Their early days was pure j rock You can check out : 1.Chase me 2.Good night 3.fly high 4.you and i 5.what 6.Piri
Dreamcatcher isn't just into rock or metal side of Kpop, maybe just more so for their title tracks. Don't make a mistake trying to put a box on them or you will be missing out of these great talents. They are so all rounded from Jazz (Jazz Bar, For), Reggae (July 7th), Disney style music (In the Frozen), 80s music (Starlight, Locked Inside A Door), OST like music (Entrancing), you name it they can deliver with greatness! They are the best GG someone can ever find. When you dig deeper into them, you would know there's no other GG can even come close to compare to Dreamcatcher and I've been listening to Kpop over a decade. Go search for their recent Primevera concert. You will get some idea of what they are like and many of their great songs weren't even performed and they have many great songs. Almost all of their b-sides are title tracks worthy and maybe should be title tracks lol...
Because dreamcatcher is from a small company they're often discredited and overshadowed when people talk about metal & rock in kpop. I'm glad there's still people reacting and finding them thru their rock sound.
Welcome to the dreamworld! I am a metalhead too, since I was 16 years old. Now I am 34 years old and I never tought I'd discover a new group that I would love so much! And after a hundreds of metal and rock concert I can say that the Dreamcatcher's concert that I saw in Warsaw last month was one of the best of my life. These girls are awesome (Dami expecially is a beast live, I was mesmerized)
It upset me there are actually people sleeping on these great talents or put a box on them with just one or two title tracks listen. Many people can't distinguish being popular doesn't equal to true talents. And in Korea, if you are from the big three companies you are almost guarantee to have millions/billions of views right away (I won't say which groups) and many listeners just are missing out great talents from smaller companies by just assuming that as a "standard" of greatness...
People will always recommend Dreamcatcher for people into rock and metal. They do have songs that lean heavier into those themes. But they also experiment with adding other genres into a rock style theme. Scream and the songs that come after it lean more to the experimental sound with synth then the more rock heavy style. While their earlier work and Japanese work lean into the heavier style. There are a ton of songs they have which may scratch that itch you feel. But just keep in mind they are still kpop and you’ll always have that kpop feel. They borrow metal and rock to influence their tracks but never really go all in. But these songs should be the closes they have. Recommend: Korean songs: Goodnight You& I What Piri Tension Break the wall Japanese songs: Endless Night No More Don’t light my Fire (more nightwish style symphonic metal type)
"Please I don't want to scream" and the last chorus "I just wanna make you scream". DC lyrics are superb as are videos. There are youtube channels explaining all the little details of DC videos - and there are plenty. Cool reaction! Please do more DC and also all girl bands such as power metal group Lovebites (Holy War live at Zepp Divervity) and metalcore Hanabie (We Love Sweets). Electrocore groups such as PassCode (Taking You Out) brings something new to table!
Dreamcatcher is really one of the most incredible group ever ! if u want more music u can react too : Déjà-Vu, Boca, BEcause, PIRI, You and I? Good Night and Chase Me 😄
You know What Dear? If you were going to sleep on these legendary talents like this even you got a Lullaby, you better Wake Up instead of saying Good Night. Or You & I must have a talk before Wind Blows me away while my 4 Memory still up. If we don't get that talk, I will Break the Wall to find you even if you were hiding in a big Maison or Sahara with a big Red Sun without Rainy Day. There will be no Mayday to save you Always BEcause the Curse of the Spider Together with my BOCA power during Full Moon Over the Sky under Starlight with a Diamond scepter pointing towards Polaris will create Endless Night of Emotion that will Trap you and make you Locked Inside A Door during a Silent Night In the Frozen. Your can't Whistle your way out either with your Piri or trying to Scream or Chase Me on July 7th. There will be no Daybreak, no Daydream to help you Breaking Out until And There Was No One Left. It's just Black Or White like this, no Poison Love, no Tension, no Scar, no Rose Blue & no New Days. I Fly High with my Odd Eye and only you know Which a Star I was at to defeat me. Hold up... This is like a Deja Vu I have before when I was at a Jazz Bar that I remember reading comment like this and I Can't Get You Out Of My Mind until I provide you with a Vision with Fairytale in a Wonderland. So please give Some Love to Dreamcatcher, they are Entrancing, Beauty Full and like Angel 2 Me when their magic Switch to Me. I know they are not like Cherry a Real Miracle, but they are Really Really amazing with No Dot or period; For like you would experience Paradise in a Playground with no Ping Pong table during a beautiful Winter with your favorite Dessert. P.S. And yes that's my DC playlist :)
if you're looking for more of their metal side, check out their older music. their tracks like "chase me" and "good night" really lean into the metal sound and are a lot darker. their newest song "vision" also has a lot of rock and metal elements that are really cool
Uh oh. Setting the bar high here with Dreamcatcher. Once you start going their discography, you'll find anything you could possibly want. For strait rock, check out the live version of "break the wall". (They have a goofy self made video too, but for the actual rock anthem concert feel, watch the live version)
Welcome to the Dreamworld! Dreamcatcher are very unique. They are the dark angels of Kpop and the only girl group who consistently incorporate Rock and Metal in their title tracks, fusing that with Kpop into something that basically is a new genre. They also are drenched in horror and social criticism, which again is special. Plus, they are massively talented, all of them. And while the girls look like they could rip out your spine when they are on stage, off stage they are adorable crackheads. 😉 Scream is part 1 of the Dystopia trilogy, which is about cyber-bullying, hateful comments and people losing themselves in the (fake) online world. It is mostly showing the victim's perspective of (cyber)bullying, comparing it to a medieval witch hunt and a burning at the stake. The tree is the tree of language, and it grows black fruit for every hurtful thing people say. Note also the hand gesture, it is the devil's horns introduced by Ronnie James Dio as a symbol for metal, but it originally was a gesture in the middle ages to ward off the evil eye, tying into the witch hunt theme. I really enjoy the music, it's rock mixed with EDM. Dreamcatcher are always very creative, and they are in their own genre by this point. They have songs that are a lot heavier. Keep exploring! 😊
A fundamental feature of k-pop is fusing genres, usually pop or R&B + rap, but Dreamcatcher is the first idol group to make rock/metal fusion their identity (more than a song or two). Five of the members had been in a cute concept group before, but never got noticed among every other group doing the same thing, flipped the script and started doing what NO ONE else was. Rock was an adaptation for survival, they're all great vocalists which shows especially well in their b-sides of cheerful songs and emotional ballads. Scream deals with bullying, while Boca and Odd Eye talk about hateful comments and social media respectively. I'll leave this quick name pronunciation guide here if you want to tape it on the wall for future reference: the vowels are ee, oo, or ah and SI is pronounced "she". JiU *** jee-yoo SuA*** soo-ah Siyeon *** she-yawn Handong *** hahn-dong Yoohyeon *** yoo-hyawn ('yawn' with an H in front, easy to get used to in a few tries) Dami *** dah-mee Gahyeon *** gah-hyawn (identical ending as Yoohyeon)
Finally! I’m so happy that you guys have finally checked out Dreamcatcher You might not get a lot of views since Dreamcatcher is not in the big 3 companies. But talent wise, they are top notch. Please continue reacting to more Dreamcatcher. Don’t worry about views it’s about good music ❤
I'm also a metalhead, but Dreamcatcher really opened the door into the K-Pop world for me, they kinda showed me that there's more to it than just singing and dancing and that it can be musically interesting. 'Scream' is a great entry point, being the start of the 'Dystopia Trilogy' followed by 'Boca' and finally 'Odd Eye'. It's not my favourite song of theirs, but it still does enough to be an interesting listen. Aside from Dreamcatcher, I've found there's some really stellar girl groups that do darker music styles and concepts, Pixy (I recommend starting with 'Wings' as it's the beginning point of all their lore, but you literally cannot miss with this group), Purple Kiss (I recommend starting with 'Ponzona'), Craxy (either 'Undercover' or 'Poison Rose', both are excellent. And yes it's spelled like that 🤣) and Pink Fantasy ('Poison' is the most metal K-Pop song that isn't Dreamcatcher, or 'Tales Of The Unusual' because it's just plain strange and I love it). They're all absolutely worth checking out and changed my expectations of K-Pop, so I hope you guys will do that in the future. Peace, Love and Metal my dudes 👍🤟
Yessssss I love Dreamcatcher, they are so good and yes they are essentially the heavy kpop group, also you need to see Babymetal-Road of Resistance live
thanks for checking out dreamcatcher \:D/ if the recommendation for 'scream' noted it is metal, it's from a kpop fan who doesn't listen to metal ;) dreamcatcher has a diverse fan base because their discography is probably the most diverse I've heard from a single artist. dreamcatcher uses rock/metal instrumentation in many of their songs, but it's still on the pop-rock side; some of their japanese releases are harder and are metal from an instrumentation standpoint. nevertheless, many of their songs are musically interesting enough to even convert metalheads who don't venture into the realm of pop. scream is their take on rock/edm and as you continue through their discography you will find every song uses different genres from various eras such that very few of their songs are similar. scream is part 1 of their 'dystopia' trilogy which is a criticism of the internet/social media. boca is part 2 and odd eye is part 3. the dystopia trilogy is a bit more on the edm side compared to their other releases. dreamcatcher is currently on a new 'apocalypse' trilogy which exposes mankind's destructive nature; maison is part 1 and their newest release vision is part 2.
It’s mostly with their earlier songs like: Chase Me, Good Night, Fly High, You and I, What, Piri, Deja Vu that you get to hear more of that heavier rock sound. With their newer songs, it still incorporates rock, but they mostly added some other type of genre. But the thing that I love the most is when you hear a song, you just know it’s a “Dreamcatcher song” some say the genre they use is the Dreamcatcher genre 🤣 Also, not only do their title tracks have rock, but some of their bsides also contain that rockish sound: Mayday, Scar, Diamond, Tension, Sahara, Break the wall, New Days If you want to hear something other than rock, they are also a group who can do different genres, so some of their songs are different genres as well
DREAMCATCHER my first k pop group that became my favorite with their song BOCA.they are a group of seven girls and they all have great voices . their current song called VISION
Ive been an recent insomnia’s for less than a year and I just realized that Siyeon’s bridge is giving evanescence type of sound. Just got tingles all over my body ❤️
So Dreamcatcher is still what is considered typical KPOP. A group of 7 girls who sing and have choreographed dances. Their sound and style are on the darker side with rock and metal inspired music. It's a good halfway point between the poppy bubbly side of K Pop that is the usual sound you would hear, and rock and metal music. Now, I am extremely biased when I say this, but these girls are so underrated and deserve more recognition for breaking away from the norms of the industry. I can't wait for more reactions to dreamcatcher from you guys. I found this channel from watching electric callboy reactions and love their Falling in Reverse reactions. You guys keep your roots and are not solely doing K Pop reactions just for the views like a lot of other channels is why I am a huge fan of this channel. Keep it up!
Been waiting for this one. I heard of Dreamcatcher when I went to one of the BLACKPINK shows in Atlanta this year and instantly fell in love with them. They’re on my list to go see now. SuA is even pushing Rosé as my ultimate bias. Was also introduced to Twice around the same time and sure they’ll appear on your channel before too long. Right now my rankings are 1) BLACKPINK 2) Dreamcatcher 3) Twice With Babymetal above all far as Asian groups go
Just so you know anything on their official channel or their older stuff on Happyface Entertainment channel is safe to react to without having to flip or do screen covers.
Not only are the songs catchy but they also tackle important subjects like BREAK THE WALL is about overcoming depression and obstacles in life and breaking down those walls we build around ourselves when we're sad. Other songs are about the (dis)illusion of the internet, cyber bullying, taking care of the planet and standing up for what you believe in. All of their songs could be considered power anthems.
Thank you so much for reacting to my suggestion on Patreon, appreciate it so much! I know you probably had an idea in your head of what this might sound like based on people describing it as metal, but they have a very varied and diverse discography. I always describe Dreamcatcher to people as a Kpop group that utilizes rarer elements of rock and metal, while still enjoying the genre bending and switching up mid-song of other Kpop groups. I think you should definitely continue to check them out, as you will both find things you love with a group like Dreamcatcher. For Kyle, if you want to check out something a bit closer to what you were maybe imagining Dreamcatcher as, you can look into "Endless Night", "No More", "Breaking Out", or "Break the Wall". At the very least, you can always enjoy Dreamcatcher's very cinematic music videos, great choreography, darker vibes, and more mature themes. Plus the girls are all an absolute delight and are clearly very talented. Appreciate the reaction nonetheless! The 'To Be Continued' next video would be "Boca" and then "Odd Eye", in this three title track trilogy. Cheers, mates!
Thanks for suggesting them, a lot of us can't pay for Patreon and it's always great to see other InSomnia pushing them onto the reaction channels for us.
@Moon Girl Of course, no problem! I don't usually get reaction channels patreons to make requests, but I thought they would really appreciate Dreamcatcher after I saw how they enjoyed Blackpink. Blackpink was my gateway drug into Kpop and now my favorite group is Dreamcatcher lol.
@@mtgshinycapn4060 it was definitely a good idea🤔I think I got recommended a Red Velvet video by RUclips and then just went head first into Scream. Idk I was so lost at the beginning when you come from Western pop it's almost a culture shock😂and then the first things you see are Dreamcatcher haha
the best thing about Dreamcatcher is that they have songs of almost every genre, but if you like the more Rock side of them you should definetly check out these songs: Chase Me (amazing debut song), Goodnight (sequel of chase me), Sahara, BOCA, What, Break The Wall, Odd Eye, Wind Blows, You and I, No Dot (SuA's solo) and Vision (their latest comeback). You don't have to react to all of these songs, but i really hope you'll listen to them cause they are incredibly talented and deserve a lot. They are also famous for their covers (i recommend the Bang Bang Bang by BigBang cover, where Dami, the main rapper, wrote her beautiful rap part). If you give them a chance you won't regret it,but remember to always have the subtitles on because their lyrics are very deep and meaningful. Bye :)
Subbed for more Dreamcatcher videos. They have more Metal songs, but Scream seems to be the best song as an introduction both for non metal and metal heads.
Dreamcatcher is so talented in every way. I have no words to describe their music, it's just another level. As a BP fan in the past, they don't similar at all. Exited for more!
Dreamcatcher have so many different kinds of songs and mix genres in a truly genius way, to produce their own unique Pop-Rock-Metal sound. Each song has it's own style. Their live rock band concerts and their live concerts in general are always fire! They're talented performers, singers and dancers, some of the best in the industry. And when they get off stage they're these funny, down to earth, amazing dorks, who love what they do, their art and each other. You can't get more Rock n Roll than this.
Oh yes. These ladies are it for real. Also kind of hilarious that you guys said it's like an anime come to life when alot of people says that dreamcatcher songs sound like an anime opening and that this particular one is one of the least anime-ish 😂
If you really want to hear their heavier music, a lot of their Japanese songs are much heavier than their Korean songs and their vocals match it so well. Songs like "No More" "Don't Light My Fire" and "Endless Night" feel much heavier than any of their Korean songs. Personally, I like "No More" the best. In fact, "No More" has an awesome guitar solo too.
"It's almost like an anime come to life" -- literally could describe just about every Dreamcatcher title track (and most of their songs in general!) They have so much hype to their music but without going overboard. My favorite female group by far.
Very unique, ultimate underdog group. This group has fought and clawed their way towards viability. In my opinion, they should be a top 5 group based on discography and stage performance, unfortunately the S. Korean public feels differently. They’re just a really skilled, talented, and funny group. Their fan base isn’t huge, but they’re fanatical. So they keep the group going through lots of international touring. Check out Deja Vu sometime, it’s a beautiful song/music video.
I wasn't expecting this reaction this soon. Thank you for the reaction and being open to check out different things. The special thing here is that they produce this type of music since 2017 and it is quite far way from the average KPOP sound (lately more groups head into this direction). While the title track are more on the heavier side, the B sides cover different genres which makes it more interesting (at least for me). The Japanese tracks are more on the heavy side (some titles have been showing up in the comments here already) but there is only a limited set of songs and at the moment it's unclear if/when we get more (the contract with the Japanese label has not been extended).
Dreamcatcher has the best fandom, InSomnia, and they feed us with so much content. And the fandom president of fanmade content, Insomnicsy, as well makes so much content
I highly suggest Endless Night, Vision, Deja Vu and No more. Endless Night and No more are in Japanese, they're the heaviest ones and metalheads favorites. Deja Vu is a classical, mixes rock, kpop and ballad beautifully with amazing vocals and lyrics... probably insomnia's favorite (you'll find out why when you listen to it). And Vision is the latest release, you can hear the mix of kpop and rock well just like Scream.
tbh this is the song when they started to diverge more from rock and metal and start mixing it way more with other types of genres like, for example, edm in this song; if you listen to their prior stuff you'll be able to listen to a heavier influence of rock and metal! try listening to my ultimate favorite "deja vu" is like a rock symphonic ballad and try smth like "you and I" too or even "endless night", a japanese title track with more of a heavy metal meets kpop sound
Watching Kyle bop to the song then both Kyle and Eric go " Ohhhh" when the beat hit got me lol Just became a fan and now i gotta check out the other reactions.\ *Side note I saw that you had a reaction video to Baby Mental and Dreamcatcher takes inspiration from them as well.
cant wait for more dreamcatcher reactions. if you're talking about diversity then oh boy you'll love what's coming! dreamcatcher really loves fusing genres!
I'm just getting into Dreamcatcher myself because among all the kpop I listen to, Dreamcatcher's sound really stands out. Fun fact: their leader is a big fan of Babymetal and I can definitely see the influence there
As much as i love scream i wouldnt say it is the typical dreamcatcher sound so i cant wait for you guys to check out more songs from them and fall in love with them as much as we all have
Hm I kinda get you but also not. I think it's the EDM chorus? I think the song itself is very Dreamcatcher but instead of the usual rock chorus they have an EDM drop or what you call it. It's kinda unusual but also not completely, the Raid of Dream album had a few of those (or think of Sleepwalking maybe?).
@@moongirl8807 ya i guess when i think dreamcatcher i think more of their older stuff as that is kinda their signature however they have definately made this sound their own as well and they have been leaning back into the less edm more rock stuff in the apocalypse trilogy too. Dont get me wrong though i love everything they put out and their bsides are some of the best in kpop
@@Izzacca03 yes of course everyone has their favourite tt or track but that just shows how diverse their songs are😊I would agree that Scream is an outlier from the other title tracks but at the same time very Dreamcatcher. For me the most Dreamcatcher Comeback to date is BEcause, not only because of the sound but also because of the mv and the little story around it.
Dream catcher are so popular internationally but not as recognised in SK. It’s only very recently they got their first ever award/win for their song Maison
Actually, Scream is one of the most electronic-influenced title tracks of theirs, so don't feel afraid of diving into their discography! They really do offer everything but they're title tracks are primarilly rock influenced ;)
Rolling Quartz are a korean band they are huge Dreamcatcher fans and they covered "good night" a while ago. You guys should give them a listen the vocalist has a really strong voice I love her. Also, DC's japanese songs are a bit more heavy than their korean title tracks, so I highly recommend those!!
Welcome to the Fandom (Insomnias) and Merry Christmas. Next up is Boca (Spanish for Mouth) Scream is the beginning of the Dystopia Trilogy. It deals with online bullying and Hate comments. This was Hear No Evil. Boca is Speak no Evil, and the third is Odd Eye (See no Evil) I've been listening to Rock for over 50 years. These Ladies and Producers hit hard. Keep going guys, you won't regret it. They have also just renewed their Contracts, which is kind of rare for Groups in SK.
I saw them live recently at Halloween and let me tell you they ROCK irl as well!!! I wouldn't necessarily call Dreamcatcher Metal in the sense that dont go for hardcore metal but that is actually one thing I love about them that they have great melodies followed up by super catchy drops. They are definitely one of the most unique K-Pop groups out their and in my personal top 5! I love the whole "scream" album and I hope you check out more of their stuff. A few suggestions would be Deja Vu or their early stuff like Goodnight! Thanks for the great reaction :D
recommend Dreamcatcher , 'Endless night', 'No more', and 'Don’t light my fire' are straight up fire metal songs. 'Don't Light My Fire' Dreamcatcher sample the Halloween theme song.
Dreamcatcher literally have a song for everyone. Their discography is just THAT legendary. If this left you wanting more, they have even more intense songs.
Yes it's probably the closest to metal you can get, other than that I don't think Dreamcatcher is really metal but more rock. Or is there a track that I missed that also has "real" metal in it? I'm not a metalhead so I don't know what counts as metal.
@@Aqua1515I think they're fully J-Rock (in Korean lol) since their CEO had something to do with the genre and that inspired him to redebut them with this particular sound. But again no metalhead, so no idea. There could definitely be metal elements in there
@@moongirl8807 I'd say the most metal song from them is No More but that's only on the instrumental part because their vocals don't really fit the metal genre (except for Siyeon because she has that kind of "grit" in her voice that usually found in a female-fronted rock band). But then again, it's hard to tell if a song really falls under metal because there are so many subgenres under it. Take symphonic metal for example; combining operatic singing with heavy instrumentation. Or nu metal that incorporates the elements of hip hop (raps and turntables)
Dreamcatcher is one of the underrated groups out there. Scream is one of my favorite songs. But if you guys like this. Then try to check out their debut "Chase Me" or "Deja Vu". Scream is talking about online bullying, "Boca" Which is the second mv of this trilogy goes into the online bullying more. I really recommend on getting into this group. You can be a part of the Insomnia (their fandoms name) family
Incoming, The face of Rock in kpop, Dreamcatcher - Endless Night MV or No More MV 🤟. Btw, Scream was part 1 of Distopia Trilogy with part 2 BOCA and 3 Odd Eye.
They have actual metal releases like "no more" or like their symphonic metal song "don't light my fire." Just letting you know Dreamcatchers goal is to mix as many genres with rock as they can. Their earlier releases were more rock and pop rock but even they were experimental too. I think you guys would love to check out their earlier releases such as "chase me" "good night" or "you and I." For more relevant and popular songs I'd suggest "Boca" "Maison" or "BEcause." I think for personal listening you might enjoy their alt rock song "endless night."
BlackPink got me into K-pop, Dreamcatcher kept me there with their music and their personalities. They have a very diverse discography, with all their title tracks being pop with rock/metal elements; some more than others. With rock not being very popular in South Korea, their heavier songs are their Japanese releases like No More and Eclipse. The B-sides range from more rock, to jazz, EDM, drum 'n bass and everything in between. If you ever want to see a low-production K-pop video, I highly recommend Dreamcatcher's Sahara. Since Dreamcatcher Company isn't a big company, they just don't have the budget of a YG or JYP, fortunately they allow the girls to get creative, with great results. Thanks for reacting to Dreamcatcher and I'm hoping you're willing to react to more of their songs.
Dreamcatcher's earlier songs Chase Me, Goodnight, Fly High, You and I (These Songs are all part of what is know as the Nightmare Series Storyline), along with Break The Wall (which is a B side off of the Dystopia Lose Myself; which includes the Title Track Boca someothers have mentioned in the comments already), What along with their Japanese Tracks like Breaking Out, No More have more of the Rock/Metal Vibe where their Later Title Tracks including scream Are more of a mix of Music Genre's (Rock, EDM, Hip Hop/Rap, Montoban) as Dreamcatcher has Developed their Own Unique Sound over the years. No Matter if its Their Older or Newer Tracks they're all Distinctly Dreamcatcher in Sound. Dreamcatcher's Sound is in fact Now Basicly pretty much considered it's own (Sub) Genre/Concept of K-Pop.
FINALLY!!!!! I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS. As a metal head and a kpop stan. This is my all time ultimate favorite group. This is an interesting start cuz one of the members was absent filming a show in China
There are actually Korean Metal bands as well. My favourites being Diablo, Madmans Esprit and Bursters. I'd highly recommend Diablo's song Sorrow ruclips.net/video/Kl18V2E5WZg/видео.html Bursters' Lost Child ruclips.net/video/wk5HW1fkBvE/видео.html Madman's Esprit ruclips.net/video/9F2lLU4nLsU/видео.html
If you wanna hear what they're capable of when it comes to rock, metal and subgenres, then listen to "Don't Light my Fire", "No More", "Endless Night", "Sahara", etc. They're versatile. Their title tracks are usually directed to catch the general public's attention, more directed to the "kpop side" because they're a kpop group, not a rock band. BUT they're different from any kpop group. You will always recognize their sound because it's unique in the kpop industry.
They actually cover various subgenre of Rock & Metal, they never stick to one specific Rock/ Metal genre and always sound different from other tracks...Scream is EDM Rock...Boca and Odd Eye is the next track of Dystopia Trilogy & it sound different from Scream.
Dreamcatcher are unique in kpop. The one and only face of rock in kpop, their title tracks all have rock and metal influences, and their b-sides are a variety diversity of genres, all songs absolutely bops by the way 😉. I really enjoyed your reaction to them, I hope to see more of you guys reacting to Dreamcatcher soon. You won't regret it.
For your info. Dreamcatcher Co & Happy face Entertainment (same Company, different times) are quite will to be reviewed. So, you don't need to flip or mask their videos.
As a metalhead myself Dreamcatcher is basically the only kpop group I listen to. I can listen to a few songs here and there, but DC is the only group in my life.
I'm the same way. I can't get into other groups

*DREAMCATCHER* has a huge following outside Korea, mainly Europe because for some reason rock is NOT very popular in Korea. Their songs are about social and environmental issues.
"...for some reason rock is NOT very popular in Korea."
Before we get into this, you need to understand that in many ways South Korea very conservative.

(I wouldn't consider Dreamcatcher mainstream at all but if a kpop fan wants to get in touch with heavier stuff it's probably first through them, since they're also way more in the public eye and growing massively in success the last years.)
Sorry this was just a brain dump I hope it makes sense.
In my opinion I think you will like "Endless Night", "No More", "Eclipse", "Sahara" a lot. It's their most metal-laden songs. And the Masterpiece "Deja Vu".
Break the Wall
And Vision too

I always try to mention it on videos. But insomnia really seem to forget abou this one, sadly, cause it's one of the best.
No More is definitely heavier but they need to see both!
I think many aren't mentioning it because half the fandom like lighter rock than Endless Night but yes, one of their best songs imo
I also love suggesting their most heavy songs, "don't light my fire" and "no more."
Yesssss!! Endless night is one of my favorite ones from them!!
Don't judge them by one song. These ladies tell stories through music and they are amazing.

In The Frozen being described as Disney is blowing my mind 🤣🤣
In the frozen is more dark techno I guess?? Never heard of it being described as Disney I'm crying , 😂😂
yess another jazz bar enthusiast, also another disney og movie type songs is beauty full (dami's solo)
I'm seeing them for the first time in March, and I am SO EXICTED!

@@violent___serenity Amazing! I can’t wait to see them again!
@Allie T. I saw them in NY and Reading, they kill it live. Reason slaps hard when you're yelling along with the crowd.
Their MV Deja Vu is absolutely amazing. So happy you guys found DREAMCATCHER. Their catalog is huge.
they're a very diverse group, not only in rock/metal but they explore lots of genres in their songs
Recommend:
Korean songs:
Goodnight
You& I
What
Piri
Tension
Break the wall
Japanese songs:
Endless Night
No More
Don’t light my Fire (more nightwish style symphonic metal type)
"Please I don't want to scream" and the last chorus "I just wanna make you scream". DC lyrics are superb as are videos. There are youtube channels explaining all the little details of DC videos - and there are plenty.
Cool reaction! Please do more DC and also all girl bands such as power metal group Lovebites (Holy War live at Zepp Divervity) and metalcore Hanabie (We Love Sweets). Electrocore groups such as PassCode (Taking You Out) brings something new to table!
I'd said dreamcatcher is in their own league fr. No other kpop girlgroup like them basically.
the most underrated group in Kpop, their music is art.
Dreamcatcher is really one of the most incredible group ever ! if u want more music u can react too :
Déjà-Vu, Boca, BEcause, PIRI, You and I? Good Night and Chase Me 😄
As a metal head, I’d add “endless night” to the top of that list for Kyle
Scream is part 1 of the Dystopia trilogy, which is about cyber-bullying, hateful comments and people losing themselves in the (fake) online world.
Man, it is incredible that you are aways present in Dreamcatcher reaction videos! You are like their herald. Keep doing this!

Finally! I’m so happy that you guys have finally checked out Dreamcatcher
You might not get a lot of views since Dreamcatcher is not in the big 3 companies.
How could anyone not love Tales of the Unusual!
Pink Fantasy's "Poison" kicks ass!
One of the members Handong wasn't in the mv cause she was contestant in chinese group survival show called youth with you where Lisa was dance mentor
Yessssss I love Dreamcatcher, they are so good and yes they are essentially the heavy kpop group, also you need to see Babymetal-Road of Resistance live
thanks for checking out dreamcatcher \:D/
if the recommendation for 'scream' noted it is metal, it's from a kpop fan who doesn't listen to metal ;)
dreamcatcher has a diverse fan base because their discography is probably the most diverse I've heard from a single artist. dreamcatcher uses rock/metal instrumentation in many of their songs, but it's still on the pop-rock side; some of their japanese releases are harder and are metal from an instrumentation standpoint. nevertheless, many of their songs are musically interesting enough to even convert metalheads who don't venture into the realm of pop. scream is their take on rock/edm and as you continue through their discography you will find every song uses different genres from various eras such that very few of their songs are similar.
scream is part 1 of their 'dystopia' trilogy which is a criticism of the internet/social media. boca is part 2 and odd eye is part 3. the dystopia trilogy is a bit more on the edm side compared to their other releases. dreamcatcher is currently on a new 'apocalypse' trilogy which exposes mankind's destructive nature; maison is part 1 and their newest release vision is part 2.
It’s mostly with their earlier songs like:
Chase Me, Good Night, Fly High, You and I, What, Piri, Deja Vu
that you get to hear more of that heavier rock sound. With their newer songs, it still incorporates rock, but they mostly added some other type of genre. But the thing that I love the most is when you hear a song, you just know it’s a “Dreamcatcher song” some say the genre they use is the Dreamcatcher genre 🤣 Also, not only do their title tracks have rock, but some of their bsides also contain that rockish sound:
Mayday, Scar, Diamond, Tension, Sahara, Break the wall, New Days
If you want to hear something other than rock, they are also a group who can do different genres, so some of their songs are different genres as well
DREAMCATCHER my first k pop group that became my favorite with their song BOCA.they are a group of seven girls and they all have great voices . their current song called VISION
Keep it up!
your impressions is going to change the more you listen to their other tracks. these girls cover the full spectrum
Right now my rankings are
1) BLACKPINK
2) Dreamcatcher
3) Twice
With Babymetal above all far as Asian groups go
Just so you know anything on their official channel or their older stuff on Happyface Entertainment channel is safe to react to without having to flip or do screen covers.
Yes you should watch Deja Vu next. I went to a Dreamcatcher concert last month and to Blackpink concert this week :) Everglow is also really good.
the best thing about Dreamcatcher is that they have songs of almost every genre, but if you like the more Rock side of them you should definetly check out these songs: Chase Me (amazing debut song), Goodnight (sequel of chase me), Sahara, BOCA, What, Break The Wall, Odd Eye, Wind Blows, You and I, No Dot (SuA's solo) and Vision (their latest comeback).
First time for me listening to Dream Catcher, tho I am Korean living in Seoul…. They sound nice, thanks for your reaction as always!
You mean the one played by Pontus of Hammerfall? ;)
"It's almost like an anime come to life" -- literally could describe just about every Dreamcatcher title track (and most of their songs in general!) They have so much hype to their music but without going overboard. My favorite female group by far.
Welcome to the dreamworld. You're in for a wild ride.
Dreamcatcher are one of the kpop groups where they have more international fans than korean fans. Loona and Ateez also fall in this category as well.
their earlier stuff are more to metal side than now they have been more experimental with their sound but still got that dreamcatcher rock sound
There is far more to dreamcatcher than just music, the songs/videos tell a in depth story. Watch them in order and welcome to the Dreamworld.
dreamcatcher always give me goosebumps. yall just missed them this past summer during their us tour.
even though i listen to scream - dreamcatcher almost everyday, i still got goosebumps lol
Actually they have a complete story through their mvs. You may be intrested in their horror concepts
Watching Kyle bop to the song then both Kyle and Eric go " Ohhhh" when the beat hit got me lol Just became a fan and now i gotta check out the other reactions.\
*Side note I saw that you had a reaction video to Baby Mental and Dreamcatcher takes inspiration from them as well.
cant wait for more dreamcatcher reactions. if you're talking about diversity then oh boy you'll love what's coming!
dreamcatcher really loves fusing genres!
I'm just getting into Dreamcatcher myself because among all the kpop I listen to, Dreamcatcher's sound really stands out. Fun fact: their leader is a big fan of Babymetal and I can definitely see the influence there
Scream is one of their most Kpop sound... Endless night is their most Metal sound and they pulled it off really well
As much as i love scream i wouldnt say it is the typical dreamcatcher sound so i cant wait for you guys to check out more songs from them and fall in love with them as much as we all have
Hm I kinda get you but also not.
@@moongirl8807 agreed
You want a metal, then "Endless Night" is the one.
Queen of rock in k-pop
Dreamcatcher 💕
We need more reactions on dreamcatcher 🙏
Underated Dark Queens of K-pop.
Dream catcher are so popular internationally but not as recognised in SK. It’s only very recently they got their first ever award/win for their song Maison
Finally you are checking out Dreamcatcher! You are gonna love their stuff :D
Dreamcatcher is my top favorite K-pop group. Thanks.
Dreamcatcher is super underrated and I wish more people listened to them
Dreamcatcher is so good. I love them so much. They rock the Nightmare/horror concept.
recommend Dreamcatcher , 'Endless night', 'No more', and 'Don’t light my fire' are straight up fire metal songs. 'Don't Light My Fire' Dreamcatcher sample the Halloween theme song.
Dreamcatcher literally have a song for everyone. Their discography is just THAT legendary. If this left you wanting more, they have even more intense songs.
No other group in korea is like Dreamcatcher. They are in the top highest selling girl groups of korea. Huge internationally.
Dreamcatcher introduced me to metal 🤘
If you want more of a metal feel, you should totally listen to ''Endless night'' It's one of their japanese releases.
Even chase me and good night have a more metal feel too
Yes it's probably the closest to metal you can get, other than that I don't think Dreamcatcher is really metal but more rock.
There could definitely be metal elements in there
@@Aqua1515 those are just hard rock
They went kinda for an industrial metal influence there.
(Just watched til the end and you got that vibe too.)
Glad to see you reacting to dreamcatcher =)
They have actual metal releases like "no more" or like their symphonic metal song "don't light my fire." Just letting you know Dreamcatchers goal is to mix as many genres with rock as they can. Their earlier releases were more rock and pop rock but even they were experimental too. I think you guys would love to check out their earlier releases such as "chase me" "good night" or "you and I." For more relevant and popular songs I'd suggest "Boca" "Maison" or "BEcause." I think for personal listening you might enjoy their alt rock song "endless night."
Dreamcatcher is the reason I got into k-pop. Love them so much, their music is the best for me 💜
드림캐쳐는 컨셉이 정말 확실해서 좋음
Dreamcatcher's Sound is in fact Now Basicly pretty much considered it's own (Sub) Genre/Concept of K-Pop.
dreamcatcher is definitely unique in their game
FINALLY!!!!! I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS. As a metal head and a kpop stan. This is my all time ultimate favorite group. This is an interesting start cuz one of the members was absent filming a show in China
Fyi, their company allowed to make mv reactions, so don't worry about copyright 😁
There are actually Korean Metal bands as well.
My favourites being Diablo, Madmans Esprit and Bursters.
I'd highly recommend Diablo's song Sorrow ruclips.net/video/Kl18V2E5WZg/видео.html
Bursters' Lost Child ruclips.net/video/wk5HW1fkBvE/видео.html
Madman's Esprit ruclips.net/video/9F2lLU4nLsU/видео.html
Welcome to the rabbit hole that is Dreamcatcher. Welcome in! do check out Deja Vu, Piri & Goodnight :)
Looking forward to see you guys react to Endless Night!
Dreamcatchers are special in K-pop. For years. You are not boring. My favorites. And - they have their new comeback on May 24th.
I need more Dreamcatcher reactions!!!!
So, you don't need to flip or mask their videos.
being a metalhead my whole life but also a kpop lover I find DreamCatcher as my daily blend 👌🏼
Dreamcatcher are live Queens and performances Goddesses 👍🏻🔥❤️
All their songs are so great and they are even more amazing on stage
React to Good Night,Boca,Endless Night,Odd Eye,Break the wall, tension, and vision these have like the heavy rock sound
