Their Japanese track tend to be heavier than their Korean tracks...the Korean audience really not into Metal genre, but lean more to Pop Rock...understandable choice, because DC need to promote themselves to domestic K-Pop fans too in order to stay longer in K-Pop industry...
"No More" and "Don't Light My Fire" go hard as well. "No More" is along the same vibe as "Endless Night" but it's even harder. "Don't Light My Fire" is a classic hair metal song. They get to fully lean into the metal and rock with the Japanese releases because that sound is very popular there. 😊
@Matthew Riddle that's fair. I've heard it called hair metal several times and it does remind of that era. I don't get too caught up on genre because it's so subjective
Just to be clear on what Dreamcatcher is and what it is not. Dreamcatcher is a K-Pop Vocal group with 7 really good vocalists (One main and two lead rappers). They come from a small company and they have creative freedom and writing credits, and they experiment a lot. My favorite quote is: The genre of Dreamcatcher is K-Whatever_the_hell_we_want_to_do. It IS true that all their TITLE tracks mix in Rock and Metal elements, but it does not make them a Rock or Metal group and they do not have a fixed band but a really good production team. But honestly this is why I love them because their discography is insane versatile. They even have pure Jazz, reggae, trap, EDM, R&B songs and all their songs - Including the B-Sides that we just call A sides - have great production and vocal level. The primary difference between a Dreamcatcher Title track and B side is a title track must have Rock and Metal mixed in and they are normally part of a story ark and come with an M/V while a B-side does not have this genre restriction/visual advantage. But it is just natural that everyone has a musical preference which also depends on their mood, so not every song is for everyone or for every occasion. Fortunately there are a LOT to select from and there is no such a thing as a bad Dreamcatcher song, maybe not for one's taste or occasion. Having said that what you are looking for are the heavier Dreamcatcher songs, so what you must check out: No More M/V (Probably their hardest, Japanese title track) Break The Wall Live Showcase (1080P) (harder ROCK, strong rap, insane good live ) Bon Voyage M/V (NOT a heavy song, but beautiful with nice rock parts and beautiful visuals) This got them 2 wins last month Don't light my Fire - Color Coded (symphonic metal not a well known song, but top all time 3 for me) Propose Color Coded (My personal favorite Dreamcatcher song, showcase what 7 good vocalists and a strong production team can achieve, best song of 2023 for me so far) Odd Eye M/V (3rd from Dystopia trilogy after Scream and Boca and the hardest) Demian Color Codes (also from this year, one of the strongest Dreamcatcher rap in their discography) Honorable mention: Reason, this is their 6th anniversary song for InSomnia, surprisingly one of their hardest rap and vocal song. I love it but being InSomnia I am biased so hard to judge from external viewpoint. All above are on the harder side of them and I guarantee you will like all. Have fun really understanding who they are, they deserve it!
Very well stated! Reason... such an amazing and heartwarming song for InSomnia yet has that tremendous Guitar! My #1 Deukae song! I would also add Mayday and Tension to this list of heavier tracks as well!
This song was written, composed, and produced by Kuboty from the Japanese metal band Totalfat. He also played guitar and base on the song. Drums were played by Katsuma from Japanese post hardcore band (I don't know what that is but you probably do) Coldrain. Dreamcatcher's dedicated writing/production team had nothing to do with this song, which is why it's way more metal than their other rock tracks. Sadly, Dreamcatcher's activities in Japan were ended by Covid so we probably won't get any more songs like Endless Night. Savor the few that exist.
Dreamcatcher almost always goes harder with their Japanese tracks compared to their Korean tracks. Other songs on the same levels, if not higher/harder, will be "No More" & "Don't Light My Fire". Both are Japanese songs. As for Korean songs, "Piri" & "Vision" will be a great songs. For a totally different side of Dreamcatcher, showcasing the range of genre in their discography, I'm recommending "Black or White", "Fairytale" & "Red Sun". All three songs are their B-sides.
Woot! Another Dreamcatcher reaction! If you're looking for like sounding songs then I definitely recommend Sahara, Vision, PIRI, and Break the Wall (plus the videos for Sahara and Break the Wall are hilarious). Love you guys, keep up the awesome work!
I've been waiting for you guys to do Endless Night. As others have said, Dreamcatcher isn't just a rock/metal k-pop group, they incorporate dozens of genres and sub-genres, and they execute them all at a really high level. You'll also find that a lot of the discography falls into two broad categories, talking about social issues or songs of encouragement. Hope you guys check out more soon!
glad i randomly discovered them when i was just playing kpop songs on amazon music, and all of the sudden there'd be this anime/j-metal sounding kpop song and i'm like WTF is this? and look at my phone and it says dreamcatcher. i hear korean lyrics, but it sounds like j-rock. then i fell into the rabbit hole. so cool there's actually a kpop group that is heavily rock-based. it's like, why hasn't anyone thought of this before? (well, granted, the "first" moden kpop group (seotaiji & boys) was heavy on rock too, but lately it's mostly hiphop and EDM-based. so whoever came up with the brilliant idea of, "what if we put together a kpop girl group that dances to ROCK??" crazy enough to work. thank you for some variety. i listen to kpop in spurts, cos they kinda sound all the same and i get tired of it. so now i'm in the "on" phase and thanks to this group.
Thanks for reacting to my patreon request again Eric and Kyle, really appreciate it and glad you liked this one so much. It is up there for one of my favorites as well! Cheers!
Oh, like you guys, I’ve had Dreamcatcher recommended as a metal kpop group, and heard songs that just didn’t sound like metal. This is what I had expected and hadn’t found. I’m glad you guys got this one, it was fabulous to be introduced to this and have it live up to the expectation. Thanks for the reaction as always.
This was great guy! You always make me laugh with your reactions. If you’re looking for K-Pop metal with screaming, I’d recommend Poison by Pink Fantasy. As far as Dreamcatcher, No More, Don’t Light my Fire, and Vision all go hard. Their new album is also totally fire! Bonus: Stray Kids God’s DDU-DU DDU-DU (Stray Kids mixing the Blackpink song into their own for an epic live performance!!)
dreamcatcher \:D/ while dreamcatcher does have some songs on the heavier side, that's not what they are about. what sets them apart is that they take all aspects of music and combine them in different ways such that no two of their songs sound alike. yes they do infuse many sub-genres of metal into their title tracks but the end result isn't metal as western metalheads call it. when you hear enough of their discography you will understand what they are about. they just released a new album with title track 'bon voyage' so give that a try.
Dreamcatcher released a full album and many EPs in Japan in a collab with Pony Canyon, the company behind Band Maid. They have released many of their songs in Japanese, and also made original J-Rock-Metal songs. Endless Night is one of them, released as an EP in 2020 in Japan. No More, Light My Fire and Eclipse all fall into the category of original J-Rock Dreamcatcher songs. So yeah, Dreamcatcher have done so many things with music. But their soul is always Rock. Their latest successful returns to their source sound, proves this. Demian and Propose are awsome Rock songs. In three days, Dreamcatcher will return to Japan for the first time in years, and appear at Saitama Super Arena for the 2023 Dream Concert with other artists. One of Siyeon's biggest dreams was to appear at Tokyo Dome. Now she will appear at an even bigger venue.
Nice reaction! I think the early days of Dreamcatcher will be your liking. Their debut song Chase me, you guys should react to this. You will not be disappointed 😊
Maybe it's not metal but I really like the duet first version of 'Shadow' (rock version) ---- OST of K-drama 'Dark Hole'. Both the singers are from this K-pop girl group, Siyeon and Dami. And the great contrast, there is a fairly soft ballad, one of my favourites, 'Dear'. The first time I heard a song from them that actually drove my tears o.O Have fun discovering their discography ;) Oh, anyway the first phase main title track they made are quite heavy on rock? Not sure whether it's metal or not but the title tracks of the first saga is like 'Nightmare series'. Enjoy ;)
NO MORE is possibly their hardest, closest to metal kind of song up to this date. And yes, that's another Japanese release. Their latest Korean release BONVOYAGE was a good heavier kind of pop-rock if you're interested in that kind of stuff too.
Kyle's reaction to the start of the song was literally my first reaction to Dreamcatcher. THANK YOU! I grew up on nu-metal and heavier music, and while I love Treasure to bits, Kpop in general just doesn't have enough impact for me. But sitting down to listen to Dreamcatcher gave me exactly what I was looking for in this scene.
Endless Night is part of their japanese releases, where they usually went way harder than in korea (probably trying to appeal to J-rock fans) Other remarkable releases in Japan are Eclipse, No More and Don't Light My Fire. In main Korean releases, the metal sound is always tamed a bit, they're more into rock/pop-rock in there. Still, my personal recommendations would be Reason, Bon Voyage, Vision, Piri, Good Night and b-sides Sahara, Mayday, Break the Wall, New Days and Propose
I think you guys will like their newest song BONVOYAGE, it's not metal like Endless Night but I have a feeling that it's also right up your alley. and also the bass guitar in BONVOYAGE is absolutely incredible.
Thank you guys, I really like your kpop reactions. Dreamcatcher is in my top 3 favorite groups. I think that put dreamcatcher as metal is a little too much. They have rock and metal influences and uses eletric guittars, but it's still kpop. Their songs can't go too hard because, even though the international public is more open, the korean public don't like metal too much (at least the korean kpop public), so it would be too risky (dreamcatcher still was kind of a blacksheep and struggled the way it is). BUT the japanese public is more open and that's why some of their japanese tracks are heavier. Metal or not, they have a pretty good discography. If you wanna listen to them singing a slow song, I would recommend Jazz Bar.
Thank you for reacting to Dreamcatcher. I'm a little late to seeing this lol. Just wanted to add that if you want to see more metal / rock representation, within K-Pop, Idk if they count cus they aren't idol bands exactly because they use instruments but you could check out: Rolling Quartz - a Korean rock girl group, who also covered Dreamcatcher's good night. Ft. Island - A male Korean rock band - I've only just recently started listening to their music. N.Flying - Another male Korean rock band - more of a softer? sound I guess. Onewe - Male Korean rock band - similar to N.Flying. Lucy - Also similar to both Onewe and N.Flying. Bursters - a male Korean metal band - a good first song to listen to would be Barriers. Xdinary Heroes - A male Korean rock band - they have quite a versatile sound, some are softer ballads like Dear H. and Good enough and others are more hard-hitting like Love and Fear. The Rose - Male Korean rock band. Anyway, once again thanks for reacting to Dreamcatcher, I like watching people react to Dreamcatcher and seeing them enjoy the music. Just thought I would give some other recs in case you want some other artists to react to as well. (Not trying to take attention away from Dreamcatcher though.)
The Korean market doesn't love rock/metal, especially from female groups, so there are some Dreamcatcher songs that dabble in a harder sound but no Korean release is close to their Japanese releases, which this one is. Japan is much more receptive to rock/metal so they can expand a little there.
AWESOME! I have been waiting for this reaction! All of DC's Japanese releases are harder than their Korean releases. Japan LOVES Rock and Metal while Korea is stuck in what equates to America's late 40's/ early 50's. DreamCatcher is ahead of their time, the Black Sheep of Korean music and 'The Face Of Rock In Korea' according to Korea's Rolling Stone Magazine. The idea is catching on more lately in Korea, as other groups are finally starting to incorporate guitars into their music (especially the more daring groups like (G)I-DLE). Most of DC's Japanese stuff is on that same channel, Pony Canyon, but they are no longer connected. Their later Japanese stuff is on their own channel or other places. LOADS of people have mentioned that DreamCatcher reminds them of Japanese Anime openings, and the group and company took that and ran with it. They actually have made an Anime Opening song now. It is called 'Eclipse' and is for the Animated show, Kings Raid. The Video Game Company made it into an Anime! Since DreamCatcher had already done a song ('Deja Vu') for Kings Raid the Video Game (and done it SO WELL), they were invited back to do an Anime Opening song. :)
As others have said, listen to Don't Light My Fire, it just has more of a melodramatic sound, but it's still really good. I also recommend Vision, Wake Up and Break The Wall; not metal, but i think they fit to dive deeper into the group and have a better understanding of how they play with different rock genres/sub-genres elements.
As others have said, Dreamcatcher is NOT a metal Kpop group, but they’ll incorporate harder rock sounds than most rock groups. But given this up your alley, I’d very much recommend other DC songs - No More, Reason, Break the Wall, Sahara, Eclipse, Vision, Demian, Tension.. I think you’d also like Deja Vu but it isn’t metal, but it is epic especially if you appreciate excellent vocals. If you’re curious about a “softer” side of DC, I’d recommend Bon Voyage (elements of prog rock, folk), Starlight, Jazz Bar, Fairytale. Red Sun is pure sexy rnb-ish. Black or White and Locked Inside a Door are funky. ROSE blue is pretty emotional but rock-ish. If you want just pure hype… Silent Night, Wind Blows, In The Frozen.
They have a new album out and while it might not have the real metal like this one, all songs on it are really good (To. you is a rock balad, all others can be qualified as different kinds of rock and some say one even could be classified as new-metal)
Good Night is awesome. But if you want to hear great metal guitar, listen to its Intro song My Toys. In addition to the other songs suggested in comments, I also think Maison would be a good one to react to because it has that 80s harder techno rock sound.
And this isn't even their heaviest song, which is "No More". 😉 But they are really going into Babymetal territory here. The lyrics speak about their struggles as Minx and how happy they are to be Dreamcatcher now!
Great reaction! Eric, you play air guitar masterfully, Kyle can take some pointers from you🤣🤣 Also, off the success of Cocaine Bear, there’s gonna be a movie about a raccoon getting into some synthetic drugs, called something like Crackoon. So this one will tear more than your face off
If you want to get into Dreamcatcher the right than I suggest watch their debut Nightmare series: Chase Me. From there you'll listen to Dreamcatcher and why they are *DREAMCATCHER*
It's not surprising that their Japanese discography is a lot heavier, since Metal is pretty popular in Japan. Some of my absolute fave Metal bands are Japanese.
No more is the hardest track I myself a metalhead. Eluveitie is my favourite. If you want a nightwish vibe song. Listen, don't light my fire. My metalband I love ELUVEITIE HALESTORM NIGHTWISH BEAST IN BLACK MARKO HIETALA (NIGHTWISH) INSOMNIUM BABYMETAL ( THEY ARE CUTE) THE HU NOVASONIC BAND MAID
Glad you like Endless Night. Good news is their last 3 japanese song is worthy of checking out too. Eclipse is an actual anime opening theme song. No More is a proper 7 string low A metal song. Don't Light My Fire is a chugging symphonic metal number.
Love this reaction! 4:45 has me on the floor with how you both reacted to the guitar 😂 Endless Night is definitely one of my top, if not THE top Japanese track of theirs cause it's soooo metal and raw and amazing!
welcome to our dream land :))) thanks for checking our dreamcatcher their japanese tracks are more rock heavy comparee to their korean songs probably coz japanese music fans are more open to rockier songs than korean audiences...jpop and more heavy rock bands are popular.. they have that rock fesr called budokai
Love your dreamcatcher reactions 😭 i think you should follow with ‘odd eye’ since it is the title of the trilogy that is left!!! And I totally reccommend the japanese tracks for you!!!
i would honestly adore to see you guys react to Red Velvet - Bad Boy/RBB/Zoom/WILDSIDE Lady Gaga - Honestly her entire discography would be amazing but i think you'll like Mary Jane Holland/Judas/Gypsy/Replay/Telephone/Speechless/John Wayne/Angel Down/A-YO/Perfect Illusion Ariana Grande - Dangerous Woman/Bad Idea/My Hair/Touch It/Fake Smile Melanie Martinez - Portals Album Madison Beer - Life Support Album i always get so excited and happy with your reactions these would for sure be amazing
New subscriber here! :) Do ya'll take suggestions? Please react to Taka's cover of "Hello" by Adele. He's the main singer of this Japanese rock band called ONE OK ROCK.
Now you guys need to check out the group Pixy... they have a dark concept as well. If you like Dreamcatcher, you'll enjoy Pixy as well. Their debut song is called Wings
As much as I love Ronnie and been a fan of Falling in Reverse since their debut. These girls sound so much better live than he does. Both groups work hard at what they do and deserve recognition of that. If you can't do that, then you are pathetic and a miserable waste of air.
Do you really need to call it trash just because YOU don't like it? Wake up dude, there's 40 more genres and more than 300 subgenres other than metal. This is awesome and it can be a good introduction for kpop stans to get into metal.
"Don't Light My Fire" isn't Hair Metal. It's Gothic Metal.
Fortunately there are a LOT to select from and there is no such a thing as a bad Dreamcatcher song, maybe not for one's taste or occasion.
Having said that what you are looking for are the heavier Dreamcatcher songs, so what you must check out:
No More M/V (Probably their hardest, Japanese title track)
Break The Wall Live Showcase (1080P) (harder ROCK, strong rap, insane good live )
Bon Voyage M/V (NOT a heavy song, but beautiful with nice rock parts and beautiful visuals) This got them 2 wins last month
Don't light my Fire - Color Coded (symphonic metal not a well known song, but top all time 3 for me)
Propose Color Coded (My personal favorite Dreamcatcher song, showcase what 7 good vocalists and a strong production team can achieve, best song of 2023 for me so far)
Odd Eye M/V (3rd from Dystopia trilogy after Scream and Boca and the hardest)
Demian Color Codes (also from this year, one of the strongest Dreamcatcher rap in their discography)
Honorable mention: Reason, this is their 6th anniversary song for InSomnia, surprisingly one of their hardest rap and vocal song. I love it but being InSomnia I am biased so hard to judge from external viewpoint.
All above are on the harder side of them and I guarantee you will like all. Have fun really understanding who they are, they deserve it!
This is what I came here to say. Their diversity is insane.
True
Don't forget about SuA she can rap too.
@@joc.4992 I did not. I wrote One main and two lead, referring to Dami and SuA+Gahyeon.
Very well stated!

Their cover of BTOB - pray(I'll be your man) is absolutely incredible
The drummer of Coldrain played the drums for the songs. It's a jrock/metal band. If you haven't checked them out yet, you should.
dreamcatcher \:D/

The drummer in this song i believe from Coldrain.

Maybe it's not metal but I really like the duet first version of 'Shadow' (rock version) ---- OST of K-drama 'Dark Hole'.

Dreamcatcher's No More should be the song for you, even harder than this one and has Pontus Norgen ( Hammerfall ) on the guitar.
👍💖
You want more Dreamcatcher metal side listen to Eclipse album No More is heavy metal.

Dreamcatcher is a fantastic group !!!!
WOO FINALLYY I LOVE THIS
And this isn't even their heaviest song, which is "No More". 😉 But they are really going into Babymetal territory here. The lyrics speak about their struggles as Minx and how happy they are to be Dreamcatcher now!
👍👍👍👍👍👍

A great track that's rock is Break The Wall. Watch the live one, just the girls with mic stands.
Glad you like Endless Night. Good news is their last 3 japanese song is worthy of checking out too.
Eclipse is an actual anime opening theme song. No More is a proper 7 string low A metal song. Don't Light My Fire is a chugging symphonic metal number.

이쁜거도 아닌데
아직 이해 못하는게 몸에 낙서는 왜하세요?
Don't like
Dont let Ronnie catch you guys listening to this trash
We'll be fine.
These are the types of comments that are not needed.
This is awesome and it can be a good introduction for kpop stans to get into metal.
owh this trash can sing better than most of other artist
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
