As a Welshman I think it’s a shame that so many think the Irish anthem is Ireland’s Call. It’s not. It’s a rugby song because Ireland competes as a whole island in the 6 nations and I suspect NI Ireland players would not sing the national anthem of the republic. The actual national anthem is very beautiful, and is sung in Gaelic.

Ireland's Call has been the Anthem of Ireland when it is represented in Rugby. The reason behind that is because 6 counties in Ulster belong to the United Kingdom, another country with a different National Anthem. Ireland's Call has been played outside of Ireland and it represents all 4 provinces of Ireland. The Irish National Anthem "Amhran Na Bhfainn" is not played at all outside of the Republic of Ireland, even within Ulster which mostly sits in the UK. All Rugby Union teams know that, even the United States.
I have never been to a rugby match where the chids get hurt. Only once my Dad took me to a football match... And my Mum gave him hell cos some idiot pushed me. I was about 9. J. X
