@@glennchartrand5411 Yeah, using modern factory-built planes, a proven technology, that he does safety checks himself and has full control over. This was comparably a one-off slapdash system that he had 1% control over, and once past that ramp, zero control.

I love how May is afraid of height but he's also a plane pilot.
Sometimes fear of heights is like that. I have no problem being in a plane because it feels secure, but if I'm in something like a ski lift, it is not a fun experience.

@@matthewmuir8884 I'm the same. I've no problem looking out at the ground from a plane a few miles up, or looking over the edge from the top of a skyscraper. Glass floors with a few hundred feet drop below don't bother me. Give me what I feel is a secure place to stand and I'm fine. The platforms that window cleaners on skyscrapers work from, for example, look terrifying though.

I turned my mom on to the show several years back when she was about 87 at the time. She laughed uncontrollably at their antics and was an instant fan. She finally passed 96 years Young and was a Rosie the riveter when she was 18.

@@aircommandslipperz it’s different, I studied aerospace engineering and perfectly comfortable with flying. But I am still afraid of height because I am not in an airplane all the time.
@@AaronShenghao That makes no sense. I'm not afraid of heights, I'm afraid of falling, as most people supposedly afraid of heights are. As long as there is something to keep me from falling, I love being up high. Being in a flying vessel would mean if something goes wrong, there's nothing beneath me to keep me from falling if the vessel falls. So I would be far more afraid of heights in something that flies than in or on something that doesn't.

Here is the problem with watching Hammond, May, and Clarkson... they are so good at entertaining and talking automotive that it sets the bar incredibly high for any other broadcasters. That means... since no other show compares to these guys, we need more content more often!

Don't know, I used to be a pilot too, till they took my medical, and I have a fear of heights too, only of heights, not of altitudes, whatever the difference is!

Fear of heights can be like that. I myself have no problem being in a plane (I'm not a pilot, but still), but I do have a problem when in something like a ski lift.

That was the real Jeremy Clarkson, first I know it was him, you can see his features, but also Andy Wilman the producer was asked about this very scene in an interview, and Andy confirmed it was 100% real, they did cross over themselves. However he did point out, there were teams of medics and technical support behind the cameras, and also the wires used were very strong, tested and actually tried out by production team members before the trio did their journey on them. The trio said they would only do the journey, if three members of the team did it before them, including Mr Wilman, who called it the most horrible ride of his life.
The unholy Trinity always fun, but dangerous sometimes 😅😅😅
