When I watched it the first thing I was thinking is this looks dangerous. Then May absolutely bins the Evo into the wall. It was pretty much a certainty that one of them was going to crash doing that.

I was genuinely ecstatic for James when the Evo made it at the end! Loved how they rehashed the same line "but I wasn't driving it" from Botswana special when Jeremy's Lancia made it to the end
botswana special is mega nostalgic and one of my favorites
ngl i did cry at the end of the Scandi Flick. The fact that Jeremy was the one to praise the EVO for its accomplishments was the cherry on top.
You kinda have to praise the EVO, it lived through being banged into a wall and falling into a lake.

I never stopped laughing when they were pretending to hunt animal poachers and then they pranked Hammond bad 😂
That Evo was like the youngest brother of 3 struggling to keep up, with his epic brothers, only to find he was the strongest of them all.
I'm still hoping and praying that we get a new season of the show.
They filmed another special before A Scandi Flick, set in Eastern Europe. Rumors are saying it'll be released in Q2 of 23. Apparently Richard has another crash in it.

for that nissan, i wasn't suprised, becaus eof you can see the drag tyres and my knowledge of custom cars in the UAE.
@@HesmiyuMC that specific car is so famous in uae. it have got a r32 engine swap. there are videos all over YT about that car

@@FlashoftheBlades Nope, since rocket fuel essentially is diesel (=kerosene) i´d rather say 130 octane avgas. ;-)

Not only was the fact that James May crashed and got out completely unscathed, a miracle in itself.
But the fact that the Evo survived two deaths and got back up like it was the car equivalent of Rock Balboa is just incredible.
Thats why Rally bred cars are the greatest cars ever built. Truly built to go fast anywhere and last longer then the people who built it and drive it.
Japaneese cars are special. I once owned a Mazda 323F BG. One Winter i crshed it, but it was no problem, replaced the plastic and had it 3 more years. One day, i missjudged the braking point of the car infront. I looked to the dashboard during the impact.....49 kmh. When i got out, the car was standing on both lanes and EVERYTHING infront of the frontaxle was gone. Engine and gratbox been crushed into the car at least a couple inches.
Other cars tried to pass on the grass, it was a dangerous situation. So i got back in and i was like "Come on, fire up....just one more time!" I turned the key and it sprung to life. So i tried the gearbox... it worked, so i drove it to the near by parkinglane.... well the police didnt like it, because of "destroing evidence"

It may of survived the 2 incidents but it wasn't road legal after the 1st crash, its chassis was bent well beyond repair/being road legal, its mentioned in one of the behind the scenes/after show videos they do from a producer iirc.
@@thomasnieswandt8805Only problem the police didn't realize is that you're supposed to pull your vehicle out of the road if you can still drive it, evidence be damned.
Also james wasn't unscathed if I remember correctly, i am pretty sure he had a broke rib
These guys have the absolute best job, but it is a bit of a miracle they're all still alive
My favorite moment (other than Richard and James playing Battleship with cars) has to be when the 100% Electric Rimack Concept One just fucks off down the runway when they do the drag race in the Swiss Alps xD
What a bunch of legends all nutters in there own way pulled together for pure brilliance just what top gears missing 🤣 we need more

The indestructible Mitsubishi Evo is what shocked me the most. It took a massive whack with a wall then fell into an icy lake yet still didn't die. Forget about the Toyota pick up truck being indestructible I think the Evo is the new king
I like to imagine that, where ever the toyota wound up, you could stick the key in it and it'll just fire right up.

I remember legit laughing (not really in a humorous way but in a “oh shi- way) when James crashed into the wall. However I wasn’t surprised when the Evo was still running after the ice broke since the engine was never totally submerged in the water 🤷♂️ although no matter what I knew it was some how going to be fixed 😂

One of my cars is a 2004 Passat B5.5 with the beloved 1.8T AWM engine, 4motion (Quattro-Torsen) all wheel drive and 5 speed manual so I have the Audi's close cousin. With a tune, guys have gotten 500+ hp out of my engine. I have 117k miles and it's 20 years old. I still love my car. VWAG rally heritage.

I remember when the Lancer Evo came out... was after FF2 came out and that's probably what did it for the Evo. Of course, the Lancer didn't live on much longer after that and was discontinued a few years later I believe.
Uh, seeing that Lancer throughout that special hurt me inside.
Seeing such an icon be so damaged but still limping on brings me emotional pain.

It’s similar to Botswana Special when May & Clarkson anticipated/hoped Hammond would be in a Beetle after accident with Oliver(Opel Cadett). However, both were wrong when Hammond arrived in a fully functional Oliver.

I'm still surprised that the Evo's engine was able to start. It was almost completely submerged in water and then the water froze. How did he get it to start?
Well, the Grand Tour had some great mechanics!
@@Juggernaut30 even so, a waterboarded engine isn't so easy to fix. Not only that but a lot of the water probably froze inside the engine. But idk maybe James was just really lucky and the damage wasn't too bad so the mechanics could fix it.
You should do a BIGGER than EVER before episode, just go balls to the wall, make it ludicrous!
