    I’m fortunate to own a Leica M and I genuinely think this is a very nice alternative! I especially like that lens. Cool bag too. And Bobby, what a thorough, well-structured, well-explained and considerate review, including local tips! One of your best reviews in my opinion! Thanks for putting time and effort into this video!

    It’s interesting you mention wanting a larger, softer eyecup for the viewfinder, as I did the opposite with my XT2 - the standard one is big and soft and comfortable, but I found it kept getting caught on my bag when I pulled it out or put it in, so I replaced it with a smaller, harder one that slides in and out much easier. For a camera as small and potentially pocketable as the X100 series, I think the low-profile eyecup makes more sense - I certainly appreciate(d - I don’t shoot with it much any more) it on my first-gen X100.
    Regarding Raw file size, the only reason to shoot uncompressed is if your software doesn’t support compressed; it’s lossless compression so there’s no image quality difference between the two.

  • @SlowDescentToWild

    Great review! I love that you pointed out how much extra info there is in the RAW files. A lot of people are just shooting jpegs with this camera and I get why, but they're missing out on a ton of RAW data. Love the lens hood as well... gotta get that! PS. Zhuyun Crane M2 gimbal works brilliantly with the X100v.... using the gimbal with 4x slo mo 1080p is just amazing.

    Informative review that not only mentions the specs, but also how the camera _feels_ and operates. One thing that isn't (explicitely) mentioned is the very silent leaf shutter. If I had money to burn I would buy it immediately, but for the moment I will stay at my X-T2 and 23mm f/2 and 35 mm f/2 for street photography.

I have fitted the adapter and protection filter to weather proof the system. To front the filter I have fitted a Gobe lens cap. Very nice review! I do have a question since you just did a review on the A7C. If you are heading out to walk around the city and do some street photography capturing split second photos of people moving or while you are walking which camera would you take that would perform excellent in the AF department.....The X100V or the A7C?
    I have the X100V but coming from an A7III and A6600 I feel the X100V is not up to par with the AF and I have had multiple shots with failed focus.

    • @TECH360TV
      @TECH360TV  3 года назад

      Hi Jorge thanks for watching. Good question! It’s hard for me to compare both cameras due to one being an interchangeable lens and the other with a fix lens. To me the Sony has better AF for sure so if that’s your main priority then the Sony wins. However the size of both cameras is different. The X100V is small and compact. The A7c while being small and compact for full frame is still larger.

    • @alexauga
      @alexauga 2 года назад

      FWIW owning the A7iii and X100V, the beauty of the X100V is it fits into your daily life effortlessly, for me to take my A7iii with a 35mm prime it's somewhat a chore to take everywhere with you, whereas the X100V does not have that problem.

  • @stephenelliott7071

    With that lens hood it really does look like a very small and beautiful camera - it just needs a leather strap now. Image quality has always been there, but with the new lens upgrade even close subjects are sharp (a weakness of previous models)...For me a future Fuji to add to the collection for everyday and travel use. Cool video.

    Funny...I think the opposite...you say "with OVF you're guessing".... I say with EVF you're guessing....sure you have a more representative image in the viewfinder regarding exposure...but composition wise, the OVF wins every time...that's why the majority of pro sports photographers use DSLR....
    Been using the x100v for a week now, haven't touched the EVF... sometimes use the focus peaking option...but rarely.
    Side note... interesting to see that Pentax has it's feet firmly planted in the DSLR camp.... Can't help thinking that electronic viewfinders will become sidelined....and replaced by more complex optical viewfinders with more expansive overlays...
    all the best....

    • @SideshowBob44
      @SideshowBob44 3 года назад +1

      With the EVF your seeing 100% the composition of the final image, while with the OVF the frame lines have the possibility to be slightly off (and often are, especially when close).

    • @jsurfin1
      @jsurfin1 3 года назад +1

      One benefit with OVF is that there is no 'blackout' at shutter-release. Useful for street photography or even with panning shots.

    • @kubowich
      @kubowich 3 года назад +2

      I think he will not answer, but I will...I have had my V since April, been happy with it since day one. Then I started to be poised by the Q2 and eventually swapped with my friend...after a week asked him to switch back. I was lucky he was willing to switch back.
      1. Q2 is a slow camera. The buffer is ridiculously small - given that the files are so big.
      2. Files are so big. So big, you will need to upgrade your PC setup. So big you can forget your old SD cards and have to buy new UHS-II only (those are like 250USD for a 64gb)
      3. Batteries are like 300 USD
      4. 47mpix sensor means the high ISO will look like swiss cheese. And it does. Low light performance is very weak compared to V.
      5. Autofocus is contrast based...which is worse than fuji phase AF - especially in low light.
      6. Manual focus, of course, is way better than with fuji.
      7. Jpeg SOOC in V is best there ever was. Leica is nowhere near.

      Size is not an issue as I’m used to it with the S1R. Finally I will keep my Leica TL2 with its tiny 18mm. Ok it’s not as powerful as the Fuji I guess but as I have it I will continue to use it and try to get the best out of it. Colors are stunning and I can switch from the 18 (28mm equivalent) to the 35 1.5 (50mm equivalent). Without cropping but just by changing the lens... I’m not yet ready for the one fix lens camera.

      I would compare the X100v to the CL or TL2 vs the Q. First off full frame vs APS-C. Second the lens on the Q is superior to the fujifilm in every way.

    What about the overheating and grinding when changing aperture all the forums are talking about?

    • @TastyLootGaming
      @TastyLootGaming 3 года назад

      I haven't experienced overheating with it. The "grind" varies I guess. Mine feels slightly "textured" but still smooth. Kinda odd... lol

      @TECH360TV  3 года назад

      Haven’t experienced that.

    • @Holl.Mvrk.
      @Holl.Mvrk. 3 года назад

      I’ve had no overheating issues and the “grinding” is on the focus ring in on spot but I barely notice it since I rarely am shooting manual. Hones
      Try I think the only overheating issues are when recording 4K for long periods of time which is understandable considering the size and lack of space for heat dispersion. This isn’t meant for long videos, or really many videos at that. I use it here and there for a quick video of my daughter or if I’m out and about and see something I want to snag. Usually less than 3-5 mins

    X-t30 is much better in many ways, smaller, more compact, perfect for traveling and street photography has much better grip, bigger viewfinder, more practical because u can change lenses, not fixed lens! Yes it's not weather sealed but got same sensor and processor as 100v. X-t30 is cheaper even if you add two f2 prime lens to the price
