If it wasn't for Rider being an alien prison trying to escape I feel him and Edge would get along very well. Practice sparring and everything. Just based on the fight and how Edge treats him.
My personal theory is that he’s another person of rider’s race. Think about it, he’s the last true guardian, his suit glows, his sword looks the same, he’s got that long hair; it’s pretty cool if it’s true.
the trick is that his timing and the speed of the waves still throw people off, his waves also 2-3tap you, so its more psychological pressure rather than actual predictability
Maybe that's the point? He says that practice makes perfect so he probably practices some very specific attacks and moves to great level. So he becomes predictable so he goes to pick up anchor to make himself "more" unpredictable ?
This song gives me such a strong image of two cool-guys staring each other down across a wasteland, knowing that after all their struggles, only one of them can leave alive, and then them dueling it out.

for me, this is the hardest and most enjoyable boss, his basic but fast attacks makes his moves unpredictable, not talking about the amount of damage we take from his attacks... the overall fight was fun and challenging
He's the only boss to actively have fake outs for the timing of parts of his attacks. He deliberately faints in at least three ways. I had to stop watching his movements and listen for the audio cue to parry, which made parrying the weird melee attacks of the Star much easier, but God above his fight was brutal on me.
Hey man, I love the work you're doing, keep it up! Could you, by chance, do one of these for the Bernard DLC Fight with the Remixed Danger Tracks once you get there? Thanks!
As far as I know, there is no remix there. Maybe upon closer inspection I'll find something, but as of right now it sounds to me as just a mashup of 6:24 and 8:02. I did have something ELSE in mind relating to Bernard though, but that won't be until after I finish the Star. Stay tuned.
I think the edge is also like rider, like the same species. I guess this because, Edge uses a similar blade, Edge can Charge up like Rider can, showed in the final phase of the fight. They're hair is the same, Edge just has his in a bun. Edge has the same outfit just no cape. And when he charges up he says "you have more strength then you know, try and stay me through this." Implying he knows we have more power like he does. He knows rider has more power because they are of the same species/race
That's actually a really cool theory! And would be very fitting of the last Jailer to be a Rider. I know. The Beat comes after The Edge. But according to The Voice, The Beat was naive, and shouldn't be there in the first place. Barely a challenge. So, the last true challenge in combat being another Rider who has reformed is oddly poetic. However, their outfits aren't totally the same, and "I know you're stronger than this" could simply be because he knows the Rider's strength. After all, he's a Jailer who has had an eternity to train for this very fight. Personally though, really like this theory.
Cool theory. I don’t think it’s true, however, as the devs said the Edge was basically a human who defeated all challenges set before him, and who decided fighting rider would be the greatest thing he could do ever.
I think The Edge studied The Rider and tried to mimic the things he can do in order to essentially become him. That way he can find a way to beat him, since The Rider can't be killed by any of them. That's why he looks and fights similar to him. Again, that's just what I think.
everyones just ignoring the fact the edge is clearly a clone/android/whatever rider is aswell? perhaps an older or newer or advanced or changed model, the similarities are obvious, the armor, the neon, the hair color and hair size etc etc
I know this comment is old but, if we take into consideration the introduction given to him “what would you do if you had an eternity to wait”. It seems to indicate to me that unlike the others, he’s been there a long, long time. That, Plus the peaceful temple that irradiates from Him aswell as from Ryder, he might have been one of the invaders, and the jail might’ve be used for him in the past. But after giving up his mission he offered to be the last jailer
Nothing screams absolute power, when Edge switches from an actual weapon to a wooden oar.

The edge probably isn't even a guardian to protect his planet, but just so that one day he can have the greatest fight of his life.
@@logicnorespond7100 Three years later and people still talking about this. Feels good
Only man to get scarier when he picks up the oar
Well it actually would be Musashi Miyamoto. The oar was a reference to the battle he had with another swordsman.
Rider's version of Jetstream Sam.
That's literally what I've been thinking since I started fighting him.
*LET'S DANCE!*
Show me a good time Rider!
I mean, their respective boss fights punish you if you don’t parry
