    he made our first family balsa board, stood behind the counter in Dana Point....showed us his first mold for the Hobie Cat....tested it later at San Onofre....great person....innovator and family man....icon of the surfing sport / sailing world....thanks to him for all his contributions...

    listening to a surfer "talk shop" on how to build boards gave me giddy goosebumps like I was in the water.

    Wow....... just like, WOW! How cool, Only met the man once in person, but talked on the phone a few times - his other great invention and thing of beauty was his R/C sailplane, the Hobe Hawk. Very collectable today and still the prettiest r/c plane in the sky if you ask me! Check out HobieHawk.com for more.
