i think roy had the best plan out of any of the koopalings. steal marios main source to fight and steal any way to let him recover it then use that main source to damage him.
Oxman 7077 Well it was still possible to recover the paint by getting an 1-up mushroom in the Battle Spin which makes the fight quite a bit easier (I think)
InfernoHazard Not sure how Huey missed that. They were facing the sides in such a way that we couldn’t see it, but at that angle, they should have seen them. Because they were looking right at their flat sides.
sorry to be so offtopic but does anyone know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost the account password. I love any tips you can give me
Browser Junior Yep, and that’s the Paper Counterpart of him. Roy still has his moments of dumb and smart in Minion Quest and Bowser Jr’s Journey, and I wonder what it will be like when Roy teams up with his Paper Counterpart (twitter.com/wilyg9/status/1127625550011322368)
Roy is so interesting in this game. You have no paint to strengthen your attacks, so he essentially strips you of the power that you need, already making him smarter than REGULAR MARIO BOSSES. Additionally, he uses it against you for a few debuffs and damage for extra chaos.
I think the best Mario bosses are the ones who take your strongest asset and just rip it away from you, or even use it against you. One of the reasons why I think King Boo is the best boss in Paper Jam.
I used the frog suit in this fight to dodge several of Roy's colour attacks, so he only ended up hitting me with Red and Yellow. Also, when he coloured the whole place black, I managed to hurt him several times using the spike helmet before using the washing machine. You can be pretty creative in this game, people just don't realise it.
Well that's primarily because the game doesn't *reward* you for creativity. The bosses basically REQUIRE you use the correct Thing at the correct time, and otherwise just, spam your strongest cards. Sure there's some changes to the mix such as using the Tanuki power to deflect Ludwig's cannon balls or covering for the Conductor Toad in Larry's boss fight but at the end of the day, the game is still putting you in a situation where you usually only have one option and doesn't remotely hint at any others, so why bother trying to look the option you already have works just fine?
0:09 Don't ever say that. Don't ever say "No one could have survived that," "That's the last we'll see of them," and especially don't say "I think we're safe."
I bet some of you are wondering what are all of roys status effects. Here you go then. Blue: sad- only wants to use blue cards Red:angry- attacks are harder to time Yellow:DANCE PARTY- can't use blue cards Purple:poison- takes damage at the beginning of attack, end of attack and middle. Orange:self conscious- only able to use cards that were painted when it was found Green:lazy- attacks last shorter than usual I hope this was helpful.
This may be the most hardcore Mario boss ever. First of all, he takes away your color to *_shoot it at you_* Then, he takes away your 1 ups! That's insane!
Ludwig & Lemmy in paper jam are something too, they make your cards debuff you, so you can't use that broken in game gimmick, in another fight they straight up use dark cards to mess with you, they're the only opponent to be aware of the cards
Roy is one of the most unique battles of all this game. You think you have dealt with all the koopalings and Bowsers the only boss left. You fall through a trapped door and Roy appears and your like “OH SHIT I FORGOT ABOUT THAT ONE!!” Also Roy outright steals all your paint.
It was at this point in the game I thought “Derr I’ll just buy the white cards. I have a lot of paint so I’ll just be saving money.” And then Roy came along.
Roy is the best boss in the game... i mean, He steals your paint, and uses it against you! thats awesome! my favorite paint effect, music-wise, is red, or yellow. yes, i know, red just speeds the music up, but i like stuff that's fast.
It could have something to do with the fact that the paint that possessed bowser was from the fountain connected to the paint stars while Roy’s was just paint
Dobadobadooo why do you think its bad tho i mean yea thr game is meant for kids and there are like 10 bosses in the game but i think this is the best one
XD Dutchman Because pretty much every boss from the original trilogy looks more fun than this. It just gives me the impression that the standard of quality in this game is abysmal, if this boring battle is the best it has to offer. Besides, the original trilogy was fun for kids AND adults. It's weird that Nintendo suddenly wants to appeal to a much smaller fanbase.
+Dobadobadoooo Original Paper Mario Final Boss: Bowser using the Power of Wishes who got stopped by Peach's and the Star's Wishing Power. This Paper Mario: Bowser being straight up possessed by a Black Paint being stopped by Mario and Huey's actual power alone. Man.
While Color Splash has more unique battles, Paper Jam's are still better. Mainly because they don't get interrupted by some stupid event where you're required to use a specific card. And still, it's not like Paper Jam didn't have original concepts. Ludwig and Larry having their own Battle Cards was pretty cool. Also Paper Jam is the only game so far to have the Koopalings actually interact with each other.
Daniel Thomas Indeed, I loved their interactions, and their unique battle styles were very enjoyable, though I'll admit I found them incredibly difficult, especially Ludwig and Larry. Not that difficulty is a bad thing mind you.
Did you know that when you battle with Roy in Black Bowser's Castle. If you equip a Frog Suit card, you can jump over the paint blobs the are fired from Roy's cannon? Also if you have enough coins, you can get a 1-Up Mushroom from the battle spinner. When you start the battle, The slurp guys will steal all of your paint and your 1-Up Mushroom cards. When Roy mixes all the paint to create Black Paint and blacks out the screen. You use The Washing Machine to clean it all away.
Yes! Every color Means a Emoction Effect on Mario. Blue hes Sad, Red hes VERY ANGRY!!!!, Yellow he got Very Happy and Hyped, Green hes a Slowpoke, and more...
Augh, looking back, after pretty much seeing how clear it is that a majority of the Koopalings are shorter than Mario (just not counting Iggy, Roy, and Morton) the sizes of the Koopalings in Color Splash being the only exception to this rule bothers me so much, the gigantic Koopalings look so cursed looking back at it, I mean, yeah, Roy is one of the bigger Koopalings, and one of the three who are usually depicted as taller than Mario with the rest being depicted as shorter than Mario, but the level of gigantic in Color Splash is just so weird and I don't get that design choice... Also 1:39 Roy goes to Night School, lol, but I guess this proves once and for all that the Koopalings are all (or mostly) adults (which I wasn't really on the side of, but I'm really starting to believe makes the most sense) since Night School is adult education classes held at evening hours at middle or high school campuses, and Roy goes to Night School (lol), which, again, education classes held for adults, and Ludwig is the oldest Koopaling, which makes both Roy and Ludwig adults... but then why did Roy call Mario "Old Man" if Mario is supposed to be like 24 or 26 years old, aren't they not that different in age in this case? let alone their age gap from Bowser not being that different as well since they are no longer Bowser's kids? oh, and in Bowser Junior's Journey, they seem to act like adults in there... But at the same time they're really little compared to a for sure adult of the same/similar species, that for sure adult being Bowser, and their builds look like Bowser Junior's rather than Bowser's, which makes them not look very adult... I am really over-thinking this, aren't I?
Honestly, I highly doubt they are adults. In most games they are not much bigger than Bowser Jr., and based on what Baby Bowser looked like in previous games, that proves Bowser Jr. Will grow up to look like Bowser. This also means the koopalings are most likely going to grow up to look somewhat like Bowser, but since they are adopted probably not much but definitely different. Also, the night schools could be by Kamek himself, there is no evidence how school systems work for the koopalings. And Roy is depicted as a jerkish teen like kinda guy, so I'd assume they aren't older than maybe eighteen at most.
@@tpr5921 Yeah, I kinda feel the same way, actually, Roy seems to act like a teenager (Ludwig could possibly be grown up, but again, they look more like Junior, and I said the same thing to someone else and they were arguing against me trying to guess their ages as being between 8 or 10 to 16 or 18... then again, same dip was claiming Mario was 5'01" because of that dumb 155cm Mario statue and because the meter counts say so despite the fact the game developers are merely just coding in an easy measurement count for a mini game using 100 units as 1 meter because it was convenient, and if Mario's model were a different height, the meters would change, as well as saying that my calculations that say otherwise make no sense) Also, Bowser Junior's Journey kinda confirmed that they aren't adopted, but rather, just work for Bowser, which is the main thing that makes me question their ages. Does Bowser have child-workers that (for whatever reason) act more mature (and refer to Bowser Junior with words such as "the Kid" or something) or are the Koopalings just a bunch of little adults? (Which, is a thing by the way, though the Koopalings could also be a smaller and weaker species of what Bowser and Bowser Junior are as well, considering they lack horns on their heads, their shells are smooth, though then again, Koopas wear shells in Mario, so eh, their heads are more oval shaped. Kinda like how Boom Boom is like an ordinary Koopa Troopa but more bigger and stupid. having giant gorilla arms, but at the same time, having a shell more similar to a Koopa Troopa's... eh, stupid reasons to imply the Koopalings are a sub-species actually) The person I was having a (rather stupid) discussion with was saying the Koopalings were teens and adults because of that Night School quote and for whatever reason, I didn't argue against that one...
@@larrykoopa64dshacker64 If I had to bet on someone being an adult it'd be Ludwig, though his cockiness is a bit immature, it could just be narcissism. I find it strange that in the show, Lemmy was six. It's not canon, but still. But Lemmy is theoretised to be the second oldest by many, due to the order you fight them in. That's always seemed strange to me, but it does seem to be implied that is how they are aged. I also find their names to be quite interesting as well, the Koopalings, ling meaning underling. Not that that is on topic but yeah. One last random thing, I find it weird Mortons full name is Morton Koopa Jr., Based on what we know, Bowser Jr. Is obviously young. I'd think though Morton is big, he may be young. Not eight or ten young but maybe sixteen? Also, if the koopalings are directly related, I'd think maybe Bowser might know their parents perhaps? I find it weird all seven of them would join Bowser's army and be elite members if Bowser knew nothing about them. This further believes me to believe they aren't kids, but I can at least except Ludwig as an adult, but Roy is one I'm debating. I highly doubt Larry is an adult. Or Iggy. Wendy would also be a stretch. Morton is a 50/50 kind of situation. Though Lemmy seems like a kid, him being second oldest would be ironically funny. So I could get behind that lmao. And lastly, What is Boom Boom? Is he just a random member? I haven't done any research on him but eh. I can't apply judgement to a kids series, I just like theorising.
@@tpr5921 Larry was the one that seemed 8 or 10 young to me, though he seems to act older than 8 or 10 (I believe, maybe, I'm not quite sure, he seems to behave more teen like) though that guess was only based on his adorable voice and cute short and little design. (second shortest, I believe Larry is in the RPGs, while he's the third shortest in other things) And yeah, I kinda agree that 16 sounds kinda right for Morton, honestly. Also, Boom Boom is an overused (as in used multiple times in one game to an annoying degree) annoying boss character in Super Mario 3D Land and World (and was used in Super Mario Bros 3 and New Super Mario Bros U)
Something with these partners in Paper Mario love jinxing themselves. Olivia in Paper Mario The Origami King (In the Earth Vellumental Temple) says that they haven’t seen folded soldier in a while. Then folded Koopa Troopas appear….
The only way to kill Roy is to make him splat paint onto you, when he gets the paint into his bill launcher, his paint is drained a bit, the normal damage isn't enough
They do, though I'm not entirely sure about Yellow and Orange (the former because I don't recall ever getting hit by it, while the latter I was too distracted by the animation). Blue: sad and slow action commands Green: lack of motivation, super slow action commands Red: angry, super fast action commands Purple: sick, poisoned Yellow: dance fever, doesn't seem to affect action commands (based on the video) Orange: flustered, can't recall it affecting action commands P.S. In case you've yet to see the orange paint in a video, it limits your card choice to pre-painted only.
Yellow doesn't allow you to use blue cards. Happy cards only! Also Blue is kind of the opposite of Yellow, where you can only use blue cards. Doesn't affect your attack speed though.
Okay, I've got it: Red makes him attack faster Blue only lets him use blue cards Yellow prevents him from using blue cards Green makes him attack slower Purple poisons him Orange limits him to pre-painted cards

I love how Roy just fades in the background until near the very end of the journey, he truly left an unexpected impression.
Circle up, Shy Guys! with Lyrics -*Come everybody, dance with me! We will find the color source in the Bucket's Lid!*
Well at least we're not surrounded by bad guys!
*several straw shy guys and Roy appear*
My favourite part of this game is the fact that the fire extinguisher is a Godzilla reference.
3:30 Me for the past ten months.
I swear 1:28 sounds like Raining Blood
But at least we are not surrounded by bad guys
Five seconds later:
Surrounded. By bad guys.
So what does the blackout do exactly? Does it prevent you from attacking Roy?
Everest Liu yee
Something with these partners in Paper Mario love jinxing themselves. Olivia in Paper Mario The Origami King (In the Earth Vellumental Temple) says that they haven’t seen folded soldier in a while. Then folded Koopa Troopas appear….
THIS WHOLE FREAKING BATTLE IS A BOP!!!!!
Roy is my 2nd favorite Koopaling favorite being Ludwig and this is my 2nd favorite Koopaling theme 1st being Wendy's theme
my favorite is lemmey
I like how the music changes when Roy spotsy with paint
Of course, you can cheese the fight with a battle spin.
6:12 am I the only dirty minded one?
Nah I thought the same 🙄 (Roy x Cannon is non canon)
The only way to kill Roy is to make him splat paint onto you, when he gets the paint into his bill launcher, his paint is drained a bit, the normal damage isn't enough
"Roy will betray bowser"
Is there actually a name for the jingle before the battle when they dance around Mario?
I really liked the introduction
So... aside from limiting his card choice for the next turn, do those paint shots do anything to Mario?
They do, though I'm not entirely sure about Yellow and Orange (the former because I don't recall ever getting hit by it, while the latter I was too distracted by the animation).
Blue: sad and slow action commands
Green: lack of motivation, super slow action commands
Red: angry, super fast action commands
Purple: sick, poisoned
Yellow: dance fever, doesn't seem to affect action commands (based on the video)
Orange: flustered, can't recall it affecting action commands
Okay, I've got it:
Red makes him attack faster
Blue only lets him use blue cards
Yellow prevents him from using blue cards
Green makes him attack slower
Purple poisons him
Orange limits him to pre-painted cards
They need to port this game to the switch.
I dance every time I watch this to the dance
omg this music is by far my favorite
Witherslayer532 //MCPE I like lemmy's music
That has to be a ROYal rumble
easily the best part: the dance at the beginning
These paint moods would be nice for the game.If they were SIX BOSSES EARLY!!!
ROY DANCED THE SUCCDANCE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This was a very creative Boss fight because how the it changes
#Roy my boy
1:27 Raining Blood by Slayer
What happens if Roy runs out of paint?
5:59 wasn't the paint mixed already?
1:27 sounds like raining blood - slayer
I tried to trick the fight by getting one-ups through the battle spin. Didn't work.
I guess you could say its a ROYal rumble😀
This is a castle... but it’s not Roy’s one
1:25 .... am i crazy or it sounds a awful lot like Slayer - "Raining Blood" ?!
