Thank you for sharing this video. I am 2 weeks into an HR Generalist position and your videos have helped me begin to understand in this role. I appreciate you sharing your experience.
I really appreciate this video! I’m brand new to HR - my background is in social work. It’s fun to see the similarities in these two professions! But I really want to sink my teeth into HR and I’m trying to navigate that. Gosh I wish I could pick your brain!!
Hey, Tamika! Thank you for your video. I'm from Philippines. I'm doing an internship now with HR and later on will be absorbed as an HR Generalist. I'm happy with your video. It will really help me. ❤️🙌 Thank you

Hi, I’ve currently been an HR Coordinator for little over a year and is looking to move up to HR Generalist. I found your videos recently and signed up for your newsletters. Looking to gain as much pointers as I can. Also, I’ll be taking my PHR exam in October. Love your videos.
Hello Timeka. I discovered your videos this week and you provide a lot of helpful information. I wish I would have found you sooner. Are your audios available in podcasts ?
This is amazing tips, queen. I was exposed to talent acquisition, engagement, employee benefits, and little bit of talent development. I am starting my HR Generalist position next month and I have zero background in employee relations (labor law). What is your advise for me to shine on this new role?
Labor law changes on regular so you’ll be learning with the rest of us! Lol Sign up for auto emails from employment law attorneys & SHRM. Attend seminars, webinars, etc. Sign up for alerts from my channel & you’ll be fine! Congrats on the new role!
Timeka, I am just watching this one, thank you! My goal is move into an HR Generalist position…I truly believe I have the experience to pivot. I purchased your notes to study for the SHRM-CP….🤗🤗
Hey Tori! This is one of my videos about HRISs. Let me know your opinion of this one. I’m sure there’s more I can add. ruclips.net/video/Hc7Q8RJl6b4/видео.html
I am trying to hard into the HR department of any company, but all I have is my GED, is it possible to get in with that and then work my way up? or what certificate should I get started with, I am loosing hope and I really dont want to give up
You can absolutely start as a HR assistant or coordinator with a GED. Feel free to remove the GED from your resume. Showing your education on your resume isn't a "Requirement". Sounds like you really use a resume review too. Here's the link: hello.dubsado.com/public/form/view/638fe3cd4c44e67ff49ba0d6
Hey Tamika! Great video as usual.. lol. I wonder if you could clear some of confusion of where to go next in my career step. I have 10+ Retail operations management, MBA, Recruiter experience but no HR certifications. I’m very interested in becoming a HR manager or HR generalist. I’ve been suggested to go for HR Generalist or HR Specialist., I wondered if I should go lower like HR assistant or Coordinator before trying for Generalist.. my concern is I don’t know if Generalist position is too advanced-or with my experience is HR Generalist a good next step? I thank you in advance!
Heyyy! Thank you!! I would suggest your next role to be a HR Generalist role. That will give you the full HR experience before diving into a manager role. Seek an organization that will pay for your certification and study material, then get certified while in the role. I offer Career strategy calls. Click here to get on my schedule: heyyyhr.com/work-with-me/
This is a really great video thank you so much! I’ve been struggling where I should start because I have so much related experience and volunteer experience.
I’m an HR generalist with BS in Business Administration and looking into HR management degrees. Which universities do you recommend? I fell into HR after a VP mentored me and taught me everything she knew. Working in HR was never a goal but I’ve been doing it for 10 years now and want to move to the next level. Studying for my SHRM certificate and want to get the masters degree.
I graduated from Webster University, but when I was in grad school there were VERY FEW options. Before doing research to find the right program, contact your employer to see if they will offer tuition reimbursements or education stipends. If I had to do it all over, I would definitely have had my employer pay for it. In my opinion, the knowledge we consume is for work use, not personal use.
Yayyy! Consider it done. If you want, you can join my email list bc I’ll have it on next month’s calendar & I’ll email the calendar to those on my email list.
Hey Timeka, thank you so much for your input! I have a Bachelors Degree in Policing, love working in a stressful environment and am really passionate about helping people. Is it possible to become a generalist right away and to take an online course or something similar in advance? Or would you always recommend to take an assistance role, when you don’t have any HR related experience?
Hello Timeka, Just like @strugglesandsarah, I have a bachelor degree in Educational Management and Economics and I am passionate about pursuing a career in Human resource but I don't have any experience.. I am really grateful for your reply😊
This is amazing advice!!! I’ve been trying to transfer into this role and have been doing so blindly. Do you provide mentorship? I’m finishing my masters. Thanks so much!
Right now, I don’t provide mentorship but it’s definitely something that may come up in the future. Do you think that doing more Q&A’s Live on YT & IG would help?
@@HeyyyHR yes Columbia, SC. I was in Chas, lived in Summerville. That could help actually! I just need some direction. Have a BA in HR management, and it’s been difficult. I don’t think I anticipated that as much lol.
@@Lenore116 wow! We’re practically neighbors! Lol Ok… I’m going to add more into next month’s YT schedule & do some pop up ones on IG. Are we connected on IG too?
