It's for the shots. If he did that a lot of the mud would wash off and you wouldn't get the camera shots of removing the thick mud, which is the point of this video.

Wantedly created mud on a new car and washing.
From top to bottom water to be sprayed and cleaned. If you clean below (bottom) then bannet will not mud comes down. No idea

For me its better to start from top.
Genious, when you clean a vehicle you always start at the top and work down because the water always goes down to the ground. When you start at the top, the water runs down over the rest of the vehicle acting as a presoak and making it easier to clean the rest of the vehicle.
First basketful of sticky mud on the car to look it like a muddy mould. Spray water from below the car so as to drip more dirty from above. Good.

Why doesn't anybody start these washes with first spraying the car all over and under to soak, while they attack each part? You will use less water, and the job will go quicker. Also, START FROM THE TOP, WORK YOUR WAY DOWN, NOT THE OTHERWAY AROUND!!!!! WHEN WASHING THE HOOD, FOR INSTANCE, YOU START FROM THE SPOT CLOSEST TO YOU AND WORK YOUR WAY TO THE OTHER END OF THE HOOD.
BUT ALL OF THAT MAKES TOO MUCH SENSE, AND IS MUCH LESS DRAMATIC WHICH IS NOT WHAT YOU GUYS ARE AFTER........ NOT IMPRESSED
