Damn it's like you guys knew I was looking at Bride seats just now....
Never wear a harness without a helmet and hans device. Your neck will thank you for using the stock seatbelt if you crash
I think it was proven that stock seat belts are more safe than racing harnesses unless you have a roll cage or something like that
Edit: just watched the video, i was right lol
Harness with no helmet and HANS is a recipe for a basilar skull fracture A.K.A what kill Dale Earnhardt
Read your post on 86 track cars page. Nice to see that you transferred some of that info into your video. Keep up the good work.
According to those people I'm going to die 😅
Same set up as me, except I have the Bride Zeta iii.
My Buddy club rails had to be super lubed up when installing. Sliding took a bit of force, but once lubed it's pretty good. I just used white lithium grease.
Also PRO TIP should mention the bolts holding the seat to the floor need to be 100% aligned or you won't be able to slide at all.
Even though aftermarket seats sure look cool and all, it's important to remind the viewer about some safety concerns:
1) Aftermarket seats don't have side airbags, which compromises the driver's safety in case of a side impact.
2) Some people consider fixed-back seats unsafe without a roll bar / roll cage / half cage in the event of a rollover if the roof crumples. You are likely to not pass tech inspection with certain track organizations.
3) Safety components in a car are designed to work in a system. A popular opinion is that either keep everything OEM, or go "all in" (bucket seat, 5+ point harness, HANS, roll bar / half cage / full cage).
Isnt the side airbag mounted to the side of car and not on the seat? I was looking to do this on my gr86 but if i have to disable a certain airbag, then im not doing it.
@@gee6395 They have both, a curtain airbag system but also airbags in the seats too
@@OhhRusethey do not
Nice i was ironically talking about putting these seats in my car a few hours ago. This is gonna be my guide vid 🤟🏼
They’re listening to you
@@henryrivera47 they’re in the trees
Okay so i have a 2013 FRS with those pain in the ass bolts as soon as i started i knew it was gonna be difficult because i only had a socket and wrench handy no gun,so to anybody struggling to get those bolts out i used a torch put the flame really low and held it right on top of it for about 1 minute or so until it loosened it didnt burn the carpet much at all and it worked like a charm for both seats just wanted to share this with those of you with an early model frs/86/brz like me cheers guys enjoy your new bucket seat!
I guess as a precaution you could cover the floor in tinfoil. Also probably use a spray bottle on the carpet so it doesn't get burnt
Love these videos
thank you for the video.. i wanted to remove my seat and check out the underside because the bozo that owned my frs before me drove it in the winter and was a very messy person..
Where can I get a resistors that works for my Toyota 86 I have aftermarket seats but the airbag light still on and I installed some 3.3 ohms and still doesn’t work anybody can help out before I decide to go back to stock seats
Really wanna see what you guys think of the 2022 GR86
Which seat belt extender did you use
Can someone still get to the back seat since it's not reclinable? & Did it affect the legroom in the backseat at all?
Hi, would you be able to add where you found the seatbelt extension?
Does this seat sit lower than the OEM seat and give you more headroom?
Hi there. Could someone tell me where I can get the tool to remove the 12mm bolt? (4:05)
So when's the rollover cage video?
That's cool. Can I have the bottom seat cover off of your OEM seat? Mine has a small tear....not the whole thing mind you. Just the bottom seat cover. Thanks!!
How much difficult to get out of the car with Recaro Pole Position?
I was interested in purchasing the spec d headlights but they sold out and the stimmy code didnt work for me 💔. I email ya twice no answer so far
My chair came with steel slabs that say recaro do I use that to install my chair or do I need a vehicle specific mount?
Is it ok to loose airbag?
I wish I would have watched this before rounding this bolt on my 2016 brz. Now I'm stuck fighting it to come out
can i have the driver seat?
i want to install some after market seats. does anyone know what i should/ could do with the stock seats besides attempting to sell them or pawning them off on my friends?
You could use them for a sim racing rig?
Always keep OEM parts just in case you decide on selling your car later down the line. This will allow you to part out your car, thus allowing you to make a bit more cash from all aftermarket parts you remove.
how can you fix the seatbelt chime
Earplugs
The resister.
Where do I get 3.3 ohm resistors?
any electrical parts store
Hey what about transferring the seat heating elements?
My car doesn't have heated seats so I wasn't able to get into that. I haven't really looked into it much because I don't see the use for heated bucket seats, but I'm sure there's something you can do to transfer them over.
@@KevinVo heated seats, regardless of type, are essential here in the great white north.
@@BahbaYaga that's exactly what is stopping me from upgrading
@@romariosmith422 I think the answer is “because racecar” and you just accept the loss of comfort. I saw “B is for Build” transfer them over in a video a while back. It can be done if you are ok with ripping up your old seats to take it out and ripping up new seats to slide it in..
Maybe buy some used seat heaters or grab some from a junkyard?
Is there any difference with the resistor for the airbag on 17+ facelifted cars?
nah i put a bride in my 17 86 and there was no issue. mad easy to do
@@nuri768 cheers man. I assume you had battery disconnected when you put the resistor in?
@@po_playz4356 id disconnect the battery anytime you work with airbags. rn im running no resistor on my bride seat with plm seat rails and ive had no issues at all, just a light on the dash.
@@nuri768 yea true true. I've already got two brides in my car just need to do the resistor to get rid of the stupid msg on the display haha
@@nuri768 I’m debating on plm or buddyclub seat rails how do you like yours
do u have more foot room behide the seat ?
The rear seats in these cars are pretty much useless.
Was the seat weighed with the seat rails?
Yes, both seats were weighed with everything installed.
What wheels are those?
Looks like they are APEX RACE PARTS ARC-8 Wheels
First :D
