Digging this 2-team approach. Having you guys separate the footage and tests between the garage and outside, with different testers, was awesome. Gives some nice variety to the video, and lets every presenter get some lines in.
Agreed. I liked having Jeremiah and Justin doing that side project.
Agreed! Very well done video.
Concur
Yeah, that's very cool, but I don't like that Nolan is alone in Lo-Team
I can’t help but feel it was an effort to make it feel like a series of 5 min videos to get people to stay engaged for the whole video despite the era of youtube shorts
Jimmy's really going above and beyond for the job lmao
You could say...he really flew at the chance to helpm.
A moment of silence please for the two other interns that were used before Jimmy.
If Jimmy dies can I be the next donut intern?
Really diving into it
Jimmy the ̶i̶n̶t̶e̶r̶n̶ salaried employee really giving the channel that extra bit of shine
I really appreciate the Hi-Team/Lo-Team/Sketchy-team breakdown this episode. It's a nice way to show how "too Lo" is dangerous and not worth it.
Especially the helmet. Like, do you trust your brain in a $70 piece of plastic filled with packing paper? Lol
I wish they do middle of the road more often
@IHateMyAccountName just saying that's not how gforces work like at all they all would have experienced the same amount of gs from the same highth with the same weight the fact they said the test showed wildly different numbers was a scare tactic to keep people from buying a helmet that was cheap but still did the job just fine
@@JamesJones-tu4pq well, a heavier helmet would have more energy to injure your neck and back in an accident. I paid an extra $200 for the same model helmet in carbon for snow-machining because it was in my mind safer. It also came with a fidlock chin strap which was probably worth it alone
@@natec599 In Donut's drop test, all helmets would have the same energy at impact because they would all be travelling at the same speed. The difference is how the lining absorbs and disperses the energy at the time of impact. This test by Donut is utterly useless since most helmets will never be subjected to such circumstances. The same goes for driving a vehicle over the helmet. Quite honestly, if you fall on your head from a height of 10ft+, that helmet is not going to save your life.
Lighter helmets generally mean less structural integrity. In other words, less safe. If you're truly worried about neck injuries, you should be wearing a neck brace. Whether it's something as cheap as a simple foam donut style neck brace or a HANS device doesn't really matter. A proper neck brace will help support the weight of the helmet, as well as prevent the types of movement that typically result in neck injuries.
I laughed so hard during the helmet segment. Jimmy in the wheelchair at the end was perfect 🤌
Some people really don’t realize how high quality these shows are. The editing and pacing. The green screen and lighting work. The effects. Awesome!
I wish you guys did the final wrap-up shots from the last 2 hi/lo series. Like "yeah, Hi team won, but is it REALLY worth that much more money?" When James and Nolan would sit outside the shop and break down the price-to-performance. It's nice to hear which one is definitively better, but is it $1,000+ better?
I wanted to comment this. I miss it.
It’s the definitive part of the show, IMO.
I don't want to detract from this episode being way better than the last couple, but I do agree that brining this back would be one of only a couple ways to improve this current hi/low series.
Still though, I want to say this episode was a cut above the last one.
Right especially on an episode like this. Wonder why they stopped? This would’ve been perfect for it.
Putting Jimmy in the wheelchair after the helmet test was funny af 😂😂😂
For real lmao.
🤣😅😅
i burst out laughing lmaooo
Thanks for the spoiler
@@MikoOhneHose the vid premiered 4 hours ago. Why would you read the comments before watching?
One safety comment, on removing seats. I'm sure you guys are aware but you didn't mention it at least not so far in the video, some seats have airbags built in. Disconnect your battery and let it discharge before you go fiddling around with those unless you feel like having one explode in your face.
Was just going to write this. The airbag system is really sensetive, and disconnecting parts of the system without having the battery disconnected can make them blow.
Actually. Airbags are not that sensitive..
@@MrWaarden on some cars they are and other's their not
This is an 06 wrx
I can't believe this wasn't mentioned.
And regardless if the seat has an airbag in it, all cars within the last 20 years have occupancy sensors to disable the airbags if no one is sitting in the seat. Disconnecting these will cause an airbag light and potentially not deploy the airbag in a collision.
On the track you don't want airbags, because of cages and helmets etc, but most people watching these videos are going to drive both on the street an track, this is a big miss in my opinion.
I am really diggin the production value going into these episodes! practical camera and blocking work, convincing prop comedy, it's awesome! I hope jimmy is okay tho...
Get well soon jimmy
Hey, hey, enough of that.
He signed up for the job, walk it off Jimmy! You sissy 😆
The best part of Hi Low for me has always been seeing everyone at Donut getting to interact with each other in the same video, I love the relationship these guys have
Donut's slowly turning into mythbusters and I'm not complaining 👍
i feel like it’s just cheaper vs expensive
@@Chris-pf4pk No they do this in other videos too
Not really but cool concept
yeah with the different plot lines and such it'd great!
The Jeremy Clarkson “meanwhile” at 7:50 was pure gold.
Came here to make sure someone else noticed that.
Turns out I’m a total knob because Nolan also did this in the last season of Hi-Low and I just never noticed 😅
I died laughing xDD that was pure gold
@Dark Helmet he's been doing that for a very long time now... especially in first season of hi low a few years ago.
Came here to post the same. "Oh no...... Anyway."
i love watching donut videos where there's the whole team in it. they're just awesome. such cool guys
Poor Jimmy… that was a sick jump tho
I’m really impressed you all found those pellets after that impact test. I need you guys when I lose my keys lol
This was one of the best Donut videos I have seen. The cuts between the work on the car and testing were amazing.
The AMC joke caught me off guard 😂😂😂
I rewinded to hear it again just to make sure.
But it's not a joke 😂
AMC TO THE MOON!
This is the way
Yeah, not what I was expected to be reminded of when watching a car channel 😂 It'll pay off eventually
Same here! Instantly got the Ape smile :). To the mooooon! Diamond hands!
Awesome to see Justin finally in this series.
Yeah, but i was really hoping aaron would come back too
@@jauzaafaishalahmadpadmadis3846 Yeah I miss seeing Aaron
@@jauzaafaishalahmadpadmadis3846 I too miss A-A-Ron.
I know! I love him and Nolan together working on Low Car, and Jeremiah just like calls him over to help break stuff
@@jauzaafaishalahmadpadmadis3846 whatever happened to Aaron? He seemed to just disappear from the shop after the last season.
This is one of my favorite donut videos I’ve see in awhile, it was very informative as always, pretty funny, and the different segments and usage of everyone of in this one was super nice, like with Jeremiah and Justin on the experiment stuff outside.
The way you guys just enjoy each other’s company and have fun makes this so much better . All you need are real homies to live a fulfilling life
😂the guy leaping off the building had me cracking up so bad🤣
Landing a full head plant without raising his arms to brace impact; that's a true professional, there!
😂😂
Pretending to throw Jimmy off the roof and a deez nuts joke within 2 minutes of each other is the greatest Donut Media moment of all time
I absolutely love Hi Low coming back, I know they take a lot of time, effort and money to pull off but it's truly one of the greatest things on the internet. You guys rock, thank you!
I love this season of hi lo so much. I love especially how this season has incorporated everyone into one show. I didn’t even realize until today that that’s the reason I think I like this season so much. You basically have all the hosts from all the shows and a lot of people that we don’t get to see normally all together in one video and I think it’s awesome.
Shout out to Justin for his outstanding display of trigger discipline!
3:48
The editing in this channel is so slick. I love it
I absolutely love the establishing shots for the new Hi Low videos 🔥
So RaceQuip looks like solid gear for the money, and ideal for those of us just starting out with our race cars. Sparco is what I'd get with fat sponsor dollars but I'm totally impressed with what Low Car is getting this series.
Sparco also has the most budget friendly option in seats, the Sprint. It's about $400, FIA approved, and one of the narrowest seats available. It was the only one I could find the fit in my Z3, also really popular for Miatas for the same reason.
@@FireCat005 cheap is good, but narrow is not for my fat ass 😀
Not sure how the sparco suit won their test. it had holes burnt in it and the racequip did not have holes.
@@enigma9789 18:16 they both actually had holes. However, I'd still buy the Racequip
@@enigma9789 idk but im assuming the suit is meant to burn and absorb the temperature vs your body taking the temps.
Sick episode, guys! Really digging the enhanced production value and the camera work gets better with literally every upload. Having the breakouts with Jerry and Justin also just hit a sweet spot for me, really feels like one of the old n gold car shows like Top Gear!
This was one of the best ever episodes. So good.
Personally I think it would have been good info to share that those yellow plugs that were disconnected were part of the airbag/srs system(s). Any yellow connectors or wires are for those systems. They may be passenger occupancy sensors or seatbelt squibs. Occupancy sensors tell the vehicle to deploy the airbag/seatbelt squib when an impact is detected and it senses an occupant in the seat. If nobody is in the seat it’ll prevent the passenger airbag(s) and squib from deploying. The seatbelt squib tightens the seatbelt when an impact is detected. Since the topic of the day is driver/occupant safety it would have been good to cover those topics informing anyone who doesn’t know that they’re disabling the whole airbag system by disconnecting even one of those components.
Phenomenal episode, gents. The pacing, edits, multiple kinds of reviews going on, the banter and camaraderie... chefs kiss.
the high and low series always impress us!
Yo this is my favorite episode. And y’all got a lot! The moments where it was just both Teams, hanging out and making jokes, was the most genuine thing I have seen. Dope episode!
6:56 had me crying LOLLL
Jerry’s really got his Kia boy technique down @ 1:39
Finally!!! I absolutely love when you include mid-level option too!
I like how the sparco suit burned all the way through and still won
that's what I thought... I was like wtf are you guys on??? maybe it has 3 layers but they burned through .
@@USEC3 the cheaper one was definitely better in my opinion
Agreed
Agreed, also seemed like in the video they found the racequip were more “luxurious “(comfortable) but less supportive. But bride was awarded both comfort and support
@@danielshackleton2027 i mean it's gotta be from sponsorship things right? Thought donut was pretty reliable for opinions but now I'm not so sure
this feels like a mythbusters episode and I love it
Fridays are for Donut! 🔥🔥🔥
Facts!
Oh, snap! You just reminded me that today is doughnut day at work!
I better go in early before the good ones are gone.
This was really cool of you guys to dedicate an episode with pure safety gear and proper FIA and SNELL approved gear.
"Its not a hot dog, is it? 'Cause I've seen that TikTok." is the best line in the whole show. Thanks for the fun, informative video Team Donut!
The edits have been so much better lately, good job guys 👏
d00d this is exactly the type of content I've come to expect from you guys and I have to admit, you guys do an above and beyond job on these things, informative yet educational. Something worth watching. Much respect.
Could be a real contender if/when Hi-Car and Lo-Car blow up again.
Donut is getting better and better every episode I’ve been here for a while and this is one of the most packed videos I’ve seen love it
If you guys do another low-high series you should keep a stock version of the car for a control group to see how much the car changes after all the mods.
one thing to note on HiCar's harnesses- the 2" harness is only rated for use in combination with a HANS device. Using them without will do some serious damage if you're in a crash. Be safe guys
Definitely something to think about. My project car is getting a cage and racing harness, but the car was built in the 70s where all you had was a lap belt so that is probably still a safety upgrade. On a newer car I wouldnt remove the airbags and factory belts
In actual use, the 3” harness is way more comfortable over the 2” … low car for the win this time around
A Deftones shirt is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen on Donut!
Wow! 4:46 was all one shot! The editing has also been fantastic this episode.
I just realized its an episode about seats but we also get harness, helmet and suit content. Thats a WW. The editing is on fire in this one too!
It would be fun to watch you guys accept all product offers for a few weeks and test them. I’m sure you get people all the time asking you to try their car towels and car accessories, it would be cool to see you test a bunch of them like the wish series. Always love for Hi Low
Yeahhh
Ok, but there is a problem, if they are advertising a product, there is fine print in them contracts that say you have to say certain things About the product. If you buy the product, instead of accepting the ad contract, you can say whatever you want. That's why they buy products, so they can tell the truth.
Yeah free advertisement
sponsor = you need to say good thing about their stuff
personally, i would just skip that video. who wants a full video about advertisement lol.
@@ryurc3033 a lot of companies will just out free items. Not all of them are paid sponsorships.
Honestly don’t agree with the burn test. The racequip didn’t seem to have literal holes burned through it during the burn test, sparco however did
Gotta remember they did admit to using a direct flame that was 3x the heat you’d find in your car just to over exaggerate it. Who knows what would’ve happened had they turned the temp down a notch.
@@kevincrenshaw9588 fair point but even then, with that high temp the racequip still had no holes burned through it handle the high temp better so it’ll likely handle the lower temp better
Not gonna lie guys, you are killin it! Loving the shows, they have a Mythbuster vibe and its nice!
This is the new standard for how a high low episode is done. This was a fun video. Loved it.
The production is amazing guys ❤️🔥
I love the super accurate science behind these safety tests 😂😂😂😂

The SFX when they were comparing High and Low teams gear at the 5 minute mark had me looking around for Killer Queen from JoJo 😭😭😭
Laughed a dozen times out loud... you guys have really hit it with this season of hi/low. Loving it! Keep up the great work.
Have you ever considered testing your fully built High and Low cars in a series of challenges then building a 'Mid' car out of the two that is made of your recommended parts over the series and testing that?
Please this needs more likes 😅
Love high/low so much but b2b is something i really miss
You guys are great, awesome energy
Your synergy eclipses the chemistry of Clarkson and his crew.
Consider doing a pilot for a mass appeal series of car programs
Not even close to eclipsing, but great no doubt
The editor really loves the killer queen sound effect 😂
Seat are great modifications, help with handling your vehicle, less weight, more safe, and they look cooler than stock seats. It's a win win all around.
Jimmy jumping off the roof was the funniest thing I've seen in a while🤣
Poor Nolan. Dude is gonna quit if he has to do another Lo car 😂
That helmet test was the best :DD OMG i am laughing so hard! :DD
the production value in these skyrocketed, loving it
Love the work, blood, sweat, and tears in making these recent videos.
wait... they actually all look soo good in those suits😍
Compliments to all the subtle writing details on this one. Also props to Justin for his excellent trigger discipline. Dude's been around a rifle.
If Jeremiah is in the video, you know it's going to be a good one!
Doing ads WHILE showing off the point of the video is SUPER smart and definitely one of the best things about your guys channel
I am loving the recent ad strategy on the videos with action still happening in the background while y'all give us a relevant ad read. I'm actually not skipping through the ads for once
Why is James so mean to Nolan😞
fathers have to humble their children
17:46 that Mario laugh / scream is so on point 😂😂😂
“All my money is tied up in AMC” 😂😂😂 Too The Moooooooooon!!!! 🦍🌕
Years ago, actually, decades back, I was a parts manager at a Honda motorcycle shop and yes, he had our own race team. On the wall, near our helmet display, for all the budget minded folks, we had a poster that said, "if you have a $10 head, buy a $10 helmet"..... We sold a whole lot of expensive helmets.
0:57 This may be a low-quality animal sound for everyone else but since I'm weird asf and I like old games, for me, it's a piece of art.
Guys, your new hangout style of editing and shooting is awesome. 10:10 would recommend.
so much fun to watch thank you
Love that Doom death noise paired with a good ole Jimmy burn
Donut your lucky to have the crew you have, especially Zach and Jerimiah.
That video was loaded!! loved it very informational.
I was smiling the whole time, this is the donut i love.
Once again, the helmet testing just shows your money for safety equipment is NEVER ill spent.
Can we talk about the fact the Donut merch doesnt immediately combust with that flamethrower? Was kinda impressed, not going to lie...
I love how no corners were cut making this video. Keep up the good work Donut!
Hands down the best series on RUclips
Jerry is the only person who's ads I don't skip. Legend.
that deadman test just gave them all mini concussions.
One of my favourite series on youtube, average people modifying average cars to make them raceable! What else can we ask so entertaining to watch !
I'm a firefighter that does drag racing sometimes. Those racequips saved me from a methanol fire after my vehicle rolled over from stupid me forgetting to put the right weights up front. I told the pit crew that the car is on fire but they never listened, the staff were incompetent, lets say I never went to that strip again, 3 of them had severe burns
Love the Deftones Shirt! 👍🏽😎
You guys are fun, I would be sad without you
Jimmy jumping off the roof got me good hahahahaha
Hi-Low has been the best series in Donut's history. Love every minute of it. And not just because it has Subaru the greatest affordable car ever.
One of the best episodes, thank you Donut
Nolan’s Jeremy Clarkson’s “meanwhile” impersonation is top notch
This series is starting to give me OG Top Gear vibes.
You guys have mastered ad reads. First time I've ever not been annoyed by ads
Said it before. This is the best series on the channel
I LOVE the Jimmy skits so much
