I had some "mild salt" Doritos from Japan once. They're essentially just unflavored Doritos tortilla chips with a little salt. They were shockingly good. They sounded super boring but it really made me appreciate how good the base Doritos tortilla chip is.

Sweet chilly in general is great if balanced a bit by some saltiness to give it depth. There was a store-brand sweet chilly tortilla chips variety that I would just wolf down whenever I had a bag. It was also very acidic, leaving my lips stinging, but fuck man was it tasty.
Best thing I ever had was this thing called Late Night Cheeseburger. My friend randomly had a bit bag one day when we were hanging out and I housed the whole thing.

Where?? Grew up in Boston, literally I only saw Nacho and Cool Ranch. That's it. Maybe the last 2-3 years I've seen the Flamin Hot variants (Limon and just normal Flamin Hot), and Sweet Spicy Chili. For whatever reason, whenever I get the smaller bags of doritos, there is always SOOO much more seasoning on them. It's actually that way for most of the bags of chips i've gotten. Not sure why, but I generally go for the smaller bags for that exact reason.
Here in France we have a "Sizzling Salsa" flavour and it's one of the most delicious snacks I've had. It taste exactly like if you dunked a basic Doritos in a salsa, but it saves you the hassle of actually getting a bowl of salsa I guess. It has a respectable heat, nothing too much but if you heat several of them it's definitely there, and it has a really nice tomato-based salsa taste. These are my go-to in terms of "chip based" snacks ahead of any Pringles or potato chips. I think you would have really liked it.
It comes to North America from time to time. I had some last year, I believe, but haven't found it for a whole now. I just wish I knew when the release them so I can stock up
I'm old enough to remember when there were only two varieties of Dorito's: Nacho Cheese and Plain. The Plain was just the corn chip, with no other added flavor.
I'm up in Canada, and I was wholly unaware you didn't have those varieties of Doritos south of the border. It's usually the other way around! You're right that those BBQ ones are very addictive and tasty. The natural sweetness of the corn chip pairs really well with the smoky tangy barbeque sauce flavor.
Everyone from outside DFW looks at me crazy when I tell them there is an Original Doritos flavor, which is literally just a salted corn chip. Goes great with picante dip.
I didn't realise American Doritos were so different to Australia's. The standard red bag ones are called Cheese Supreme here, Nacho Cheese comes in a yellow bag and tastes more like how he described Canada's zesty cheese. We also have plain salted (only good for making nachos) and Mexicana which is a really mild spicy cheese flavour. And Cool Ranch is a limited edition flavour that we see very rarely.

Sweet chilly in general is great if balanced a bit by some saltiness to give it depth. There was a store-brand sweet chilly tortilla chips variety that I would just wolf down whenever I had a bag. It was also very acidic, leaving my lips stinging, but fuck man was it tasty.

For whatever reason, whenever I get the smaller bags of doritos, there is always SOOO much more seasoning on them. It's actually that way for most of the bags of chips i've gotten. Not sure why, but I generally go for the smaller bags for that exact reason.

Here in France we have a "Sizzling Salsa" flavour and it's one of the most delicious snacks I've had. It taste exactly like if you dunked a basic Doritos in a salsa, but it saves you the hassle of actually getting a bowl of salsa I guess. It has a respectable heat, nothing too much but if you heat several of them it's definitely there, and it has a really nice tomato-based salsa taste. These are my go-to in terms of "chip based" snacks ahead of any Pringles or potato chips. I think you would have really liked it.
It comes to North America from time to time. I had some last year, I believe, but haven't found it for a whole now. I just wish I knew when the release them so I can stock up

You're right that those BBQ ones are very addictive and tasty. The natural sweetness of the corn chip pairs really well with the smoky tangy barbeque sauce flavor.

I didn't realise American Doritos were so different to Australia's. The standard red bag ones are called Cheese Supreme here, Nacho Cheese comes in a yellow bag and tastes more like how he described Canada's zesty cheese. We also have plain salted (only good for making nachos) and Mexicana which is a really mild spicy cheese flavour. And Cool Ranch is a limited edition flavour that we see very rarely.
